Ray Stevens, Roy Clark, Crystal Gayle, Chet Atkins, BJ Thomas George Lindsay, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings in the audience. GOATS of Old Country Music.
@@heather6668 Just to be sure to avoid any confusion, "Country Boy" is the song with the lyric, "Country boy, you've got your feet in L.A. but your mind's on Tennessee." Some could think of the John Denver song, "Thank God I'm a Country Boy."
Glen is a true legend. A session guitar player with a bunch of guys called the wrecking Crew. Played on everyone from Frank Sinatra, Elvis to the Monkees and the Beach Boys. Toured briefly as a Beach Boy filling in for Brian Wilson, before going solo. He was a major hit, had his own extremely popular music TV show.
Glen Campbell was just one of the greatest of all time and couldn't read a note of music ! Just raw natural talent ! A member of the famous session group - "The Wrecking Crew "
When you see how all the great artists on stage with him were mesmerized by him, you can see why Glen Campbell was so huge in the 60's and 70's. Right off I recognized Waylon Jennings, Roy Clark, Willie Nelson, and Ray Stevens (the man he talked to while playing). Graham Brown, Ralph Emery, Janie Fricke, Barbara Fairchild, Larry Gatlin, Crystal Gayle, Geezinslaw Brother, Ferlin Husky, Dan Seals, T.G. Sheppard, B.J. Thomas, Ricky Van Shelton, Porter Wagoner, and Gene Watson. Some more great songs are "By the Time I Get to Phoenix", "Southern Nights", "Rhinestone Cowboy", "Wichita Lineman", "Galveston", and his cover of "Yesterday, When I Was Young"
Audience was a who's who of country music. Glenn was one of the best guitarists ever. Got his start on the Wrecking Crew and he even covered for Brian Wilson for a year or so on the Beach Boys. Amazing talent.
This is the correct video... Haha. Glen was one of the greatest guitar player ever. Glen and a guy named Roy Clark paved the way for guitarists. Glad you picked this video Glen is surrounded by some of Country's best.. Roy Clark, Woman in Blue is Crystal Gayle, Willie Nelson and others that i can't remember

Glenn had early onset alzheimer disease and was able to do a nearly 2 year international Goodbye Tour using muscle memory. He started playing guitar at age 4 and was on the radio by age 6. His last recording honoring alzheimer was I Won't Miss You and was nominated and received several awards.
This was some of country's best talent... I saw Bobby Baer, Roy Clark, Chet Atkins, Ray Stevens, Crystal Gayle, Willie Nelson... There were more for sure... Glen was quite a talent... He actually toured with the beach boys in 1965... In 1967 or 68 he had the Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour which we watched as a family for a couple of years... Glenn started as a studio musician for artists like Elvis Presley and many more... Definitely a heck of a guitar player too... Great reaction guys... Keep being awesome !!!...
One of greatest guitarists ever. He was once a beach boy and a member of the wrecking crew. Wrecking crew were session musicians out of LA that played on many many hits.
One of the greatest guitarists ever. He started as a session musician, playing for numerous country greats, when they recorded music in a Nashville studio.
Glen Campbell was also part of the "Wrecking Crew" which was a group of session musicians that played for all of the top groups in the 60s and 70s. There are TH-cam videos you might want to take a look at. Nice reaction.
My father used to play guitar with him at the world's famous Palomino Club in North Hollywood. Every legend on that stage likely played there too. He once told me "If you ever see Willie Nelson, tell him you're my son.' I regret I never had the opportunity to do so.
What you guys may not realize is that Glen's audience in that video is filled with country music icons. Glen is considered one of the all time greatest guitar player and performers. Your next venture with Glen must be Wichita Lineman. Enjoy!
Glen is a legend. Did a lot of session work with the Wrecking Crew, before he became a household name..Incredible guitarist. Had to be if you played with those people!
His "audience" is full of Country Greats in their own right and they are captivated by his performance. "Galveston", "Wichita Lineman", "By the Time I Get to Phoenix", "Rhinestone Cowboy", "The William Tell Overture"
Glen was a session player of many of the greatest hits of the 60s. They were called the Wrecking Crew. One of the most versatile of the great guitarists.
I grew up watching Glen on his TV show. He had many great hits, beautiful music. The whole world loved Glen Campbell. He truly was one of the greats in music.
That beautiful woman in blue on his right is Crystal Gayle, Loretta Lynn's little sister. That stage is covered with country music legends and every one of them is sitting back quietly giving himthe spotlight while deeply loving every note... that should tell you where Glen Campbell fits into the picture. He literally shut up Waylon & Willie, something most people thought impossible. Arguably the single greatest guitarist to ever hit the stage, although Roy Clark (black shirt, curly hair) could give him a run for his money even on a bad day. I have seen them perform together on stage and it was nothing short of miraculous.
Glenn is a country icon, his guitar skills were second to none. And his final years were lost to Alzheimer’s. He ended up having to stop performing, but the early stages of it being onstage brought his memory back! RIP Glenn, and hopefully there is a place where all these lost Icons are jamming together. Like in Rock and roll heaven by the righteous brothers!
Glen Campbell first sang this years before this video was recorded and all those around him were famous country singer & musicians. His other big hit were, "Wichita Lineman", "Galveston", "Rhinestone Cowboy", "Southern Nights".
My mom took me to see Glenn at Starlight Musicals Butler University in Indianapolis when I was fourteen. He was amazing. As you might tell with a name like Campbell he was of Scottish heritage. I am also of Scottish heritage. At the end of the show he played Amazing Grace on the bagpipes. The man blew me away. Not a dry eye in the house. When he passed it broke my heart.
It's amazing to see Glen Campbell play CLASSICAL GAS on guitar. He does such a great job on it. You should watch that. Also in the 70s, he had his own show, filled with stars making cameos.
Glen started out as a session musician with L.A.’s Wrecking Crew before achieving solo success. His catalog is amazing. He developed Alzheimer’s around 2011 but played and sung flawlessly until his death.

Glen is AMAZING ... kid of the era, from Toronto .. born in 66 hes one of my earliest music memories...as a teen got into Rush , Ozzy , AC/DC ... metal .. classic rock ... but I still remember Glen & country ... Glen Kicks ... Arse
Seeing Roy Clark reminded me of when he did Dueling Banjos with Buck Trent. Worth a look if you want a smile on your face - both sheer talent and comedy is quite a mix.
Glenn Campbell - an icon and legend. Self-taught, can't read music, hears it and plays it and will add his own touches and guitar styles. A very good soft and easy voice too. His first hit: "By the time I get to Phoenix" (slow, heartfelt song of broken relationship). After this hit, he went on and recorded: Wichita Lineman and Galveston and Try a little Kindness - just to name a few. Fell on hard times, then made a nice revival in 75/76 with hits: Rhinestone Cowboy and Southern Nights. Began career as a sessions guitarist and vocalist with The Wrecking Crew. Requested by many big timers, including Frank Sinatra. One of the greatest guitarists of all times, although those talents were appreciated/recognized until his later years. Several rock guitarists sought lessons from him - including Alice Cooper and Van Halen. To get the true understanding of his talents with a guitar, check out a video from Wings of Pegasus site of Glenn playing a 12-string guitar to the tune of The Lone Ranger theme. Simply amazing. RIP Mr Campbell.
Born in 1960, i grew up listening and watching everyone of these Amazing Artists ❤ One of my all time favorite movies is True Grit with John Wayne and Glen Campbell ❤ ❤❤ I had the best musical childhood 🥰🥰🥰
I just love Glen Campbell! I’ve listened to him all my life!! So many wonderful musicians with him there on stage! Chet Atkins, Roy Clark, Willie Nelson, Crystal Gayle… and sitting right behind him is another one of my VERY favorite musicians, Gene Watson… check him out! He is still performing, my husband and I saw him a couple of years ago in Waco. Love these guys! ❤️
This was the most played song ever at one time, Glen did not write this song, but he made it a greatest hit for sure! This song was written by John Hartford as a fiddle tune, give John a listen when you have time. 😎
Those were great times ~ I still had offices on Music Row but~ Opry Mills became the centralized Mecca ~ for the Opry ~ The Nashville Network ~ which broadcast television shows focused on bringing legends of country in a variety of settings ~ around the complex ~ The audience was themselves all topnotch performers & musicians
I definately noticed B J Thomas (Raindrops are falling on my head), & Willy Nelson. Didn't know the rest. Just loved Glenn Campell, what a beautiful country music song. 💝💝💝
When Elvis was putting together his band for his vegas years he asked around for the best guitar player. He was told Glen Campbell and James Burton. Glen had his own career so Elvis went with Burton.
The group on stage with him included Willie Nelson, Roy Clark, Chet Atkins and seated next to him Crystal Gayle (country singer and sister of Loretta Lynn) among others.
Never had a lesson and yet, was one of the most recognized and respected guitarists who could play any genre (like Roy Clark who was sitting there too). Glen played for The Wrecking Crew, a loosely organized, rotating group of session musicians who play on just about everyone who was anyone's recordings in the 60's. In fact, he was the guitarist on many Beach Boys songs and even toured with them from time-to-time. Glen was a virtuoso by all measures and standards.
Glen was truly one of the greatest musicians of his time. He played in studio on recording for many, many artists including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, The Beach Boys, Sammy Davis, Jr., Elvis and many others. He struggled with alcoholism and had a very severe cocaine addiction in the 1970s. In the late 1960s and early 1970s he hosted his own weekly television variety show "The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour" that I remember watching each week. Sadly, in the 2010s he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and suffered with the disease until his 2017 passing.
This became the theme song to his popular The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour TV variety show (1969-1972). However, it was played all the way through only once in a memorable episode. Usually it cut off for the MC to announce the guest stars for each show.
That is a room full of country music icons! Glen is a natural gifted guitar player. Check out some stuff he did with Roy Clark (who was in that group)! Thanks
Part of the attraction of Glen Campbell is his presence and stature. I recommend you react to his "Try a Little Kindness" live in Sioux Falls. You'll get another over-the-top guitar solo, and our world could stand to be reminded of the lyrics. Blessings....
Wow, never thought i'd see this on a reaction video, the legendary guitar player, Mr. Glen Travis Campbell. Here's how great he was, Alice Cooper and Glen were very close friends/families. Eddie Van Halen asked Alice to see if Glen would give him guitar lessons, true story.
Glen bridged country and pop music in the 1960s and '70s as well as anyone ever has. I strongly recommend these 3 songs: "Wichita Lineman", "Galveston" (about a Vietnam war soldier who misses his town and the girl he left behind and wonders if he'll ever reunite with either of them again) and "By The Time I Get To Phoenix" (a heartbreaking account of a man who finally leaves a relationship after trying to do many times). A+

Mark toured with Ringo's All star band for 2 years & at 76 in still going strong & still singing in the same keys. I played at least 12 of their songs from 1975 in Spain till cancer cut my music career & any other career short in 93. But I proved every Dr & specialist wrong & continue to. I'm too mean for cancer to have a chance. Lol! It was my 9 & 12 year old son's & my wife who stayed sober for 33 years & my research. I found the treatment protocol & Oncologist to beat stage 3 Melanoma @ the base of my neck 36 square CM's removed by a hack general surgeon who used a cauterizer, instead of calling in the plastic surgeon like he promised if he removed anything larger than a thumb around. Never mentioned King Kong~ But I'm here & have my home studio which keeps me semi sane. Lol! Love your channel & know just about every artist you do. I played everything from the 50's to 90's my oldest loved Hip hop & Rap & my youngest hard rock. 90's till 2005. 2015 I lost my oldest son he was first an Insane clown Posse fan then Tech 9. He was allowed back stage with them anytime they were in the Phoenix Valley. But he had his Dad's songs on his playlist as well. There's nothing in life harder than losing a child. Don't think you guys are there yet, but never let them leave without a hug & an I love you. My only solace in life. Doesn't hurt to do the same with each of you. Didn't have any effect on my marriage, it was a family curse that his her in her early 50's. Luckily I met her in Spain at 16 when I was 17. Life goes on or you get your ass runover~ I think that was Ed Sullivan Lol!
Glen is AMAZING ... kid of the era, from Toronto .. born in 66 hes one of my earliest music memories...as a teen got into Rush , Ozzy , AC/DC ... metal .. classic rock ... but I still remember Glen & country ... Glen Kicks ... Arse
This is a beautiful live version of this song. You can see the faces of all the legends sitting around him and they are all happy to watch this👍🏼
Seeing Roy Clark reminded me of when he did Dueling Banjos with Buck Trent. Worth a look if you want a smile on your face - both sheer talent and comedy is quite a mix.
One of the best to ever do it.
A guitarist’s guitarist! He was in “the wrecking crew.” Great voice too! Charismatic and charming! Thx!
Wrecking Crew. One of the best guitarists EVER.
He was such a gifted artist.
Some serious talent on that stage!!
Roomful of talent right there
Glen was one of the first to pioneer the Ovation guitar.
RIP John Hartford. Writer of this song. RIP Glen.
No question my favorite Glen Campbell song!
So many awesome country artists in this clip. Chet Atkins (Mr. Guitar) Ray Steven's, Merle Hagard, Willie Nelson. To name a few.
Surrounded by greatness
This was the most played song ever at one time, Glen did not write this song, but he made it a greatest hit for sure! This song was written by John Hartford as a fiddle tune, give John a listen when you have time. 😎
Willie Nelson, Crystal Gayle & the older man playing guitar is Chet Atkins, one of the greatest guitarist. Roy Clark too.
Wichita Lineman is a great song by Glen.
When Elvis was putting together his band for his vegas years he asked around for the best guitar player. He was told Glen Campbell and James Burton. Glen had his own career so Elvis went with Burton.
Loved this song since I was lil' bitty!! :) SO MANY GREATS sitting in this group!! ENJOY, YA'LL!!! HUGS from TEXAS!!
wow that room is full of ICONS
Glen and SRV are the two best guitarists I have ever seen live. Started as a world-renowned session musician. Roy Clark is up there, too.
The group on stage with him included Willie Nelson, Roy Clark, Chet Atkins and seated next to him Crystal Gayle (country singer and sister of Loretta Lynn) among others.
Iconic Legend
Brilliant artist, absolutely loved him.👌🏻
Never had a lesson and yet, was one of the most recognized and respected guitarists who could play any genre (like Roy Clark who was sitting there too).
Huge stars on that stage!
My very first concert was Johnny Cash at the Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles 1967… the opening act was a young Glen Campbell (with John Hartford).
He had quite a few hits. He also had his own TV show for a while and also was in the movies.
Super stars surrounding him as you know. This is an iconic room. Roy Acuff! Willie Nelson!, Chet Atkins !!) On and on....what a room!!! WAYLON!!
Wow all those musicians together!!! Roy-Willie so many
Such legends here - Chet Atkins, Roy Clark, Willie Nelson, Crystal Gayle,
David Lee Roth, and Ray Stevens, Waylon Jennings, BJ Thomas…
The person talking to him was Ray Stevens and Willie Nelson was in the group.
lyrical masterpiece one of my all time favorites
Legendary status required to enter the building that night.
