  • On this Fall 2021 trip to the Cherokee National Forest, I spent a morning checking out the Citico Creek area and the Jake Best campground to use as a base camp for some future fly fishing and backpacking in the Citico Creek Wilderness

    Boy that was absolutely beautiful. The water in the creek looked so clear and I love that fall color. Thank you for taking us along 😊. Nice campground area too. I like the puppy on the dashboard.

      Thanks Nicole! That drive is highly recommended and has a lot of boondocking opportunities along it. I did get lucky with the 2021 Fall colors, even if the weather didn't always cooperate. There are a couple more videos of my Fall trip that also highlights the colors. And that's Ivan on the dashboard in memory of the rescue Husky we used to have until he passed away from old age.

      It was, just a few potholes here and there, better than expected. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Enjoyed the video, John. That road took you to some nice spots with some great scenery along the way. Good to see Ivan riding along on the dash providing you with some good directions, no doubt. 😁

      Thanks Carl! A section of that road borders the Citico Creek Wilderness and I'm looking forward to going back up soon to try out the trails and the fly fishing. Couldn't leave my navigator, Ivan, behind and besides, he's low maintenance. Working on a few more videos highlighting the Fall colors and the hiking and backpacking.

    Can you fly fish for Trout there...?

    • @DrJohn493
      @DrJohn493  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it's a popular trout stream. Be aware though that March through October each year it is closed to fishing on Thursdays and Fridays due to the stocking schedule. And a daily permit is required in addition to the fishing license to fish both Citico Creek and the nearby Tellico River. But both areas have plenty of tribs that can be fished 7 days a week. Thanks for watching.
