A year ago I saw miso in several vegan recipes I wanted to try, so I ordered two different kinds from far away, because I'm in a small village in rural east Croatia where nobody ever heard of miso and then I totally forgot which those recipes were. Time passed and I didn't come across any recipes with miso. Weird. I know I can add it to stews and I know miso soup exists, but the only one I ever tasted wasn't vegan and from a sushi restaurant. I hated it. I haven't found any interesting recipes for it either, but today I made this simple dish. Tasty! Useful!👍And my meat-loving husband stole some tofu from the pan and put the sauce on a piece of bread when I wasn't watching. I had actual mortadella, smoked turkey ham and sausage in the fridge but my husband spontaneously ate tofu that he never tasted before during my three years as a vegan. I asked him if he really thought it was good. Yes. He didn't find it strange in any way. They love their meat in this part of the world and they love to make huge pork roasts and eat the salty and fat juices from them with bread. This is what he was doing. He was eating "meat" and its salty juices. 😆 So my vegan food is normal and a part of the household cuisine now, just as much as their dear pork? I'm in shock.
I love it! I use my miso paste mostly to make spicy noodle soup. The only 'weird' ingredients are miso and kombu or kelp-powder. I use a local vegetable broth, local vegetables and spicy sauce. Very different from populair ramen recipes you'd find here on yt but more accessable :) and delicious!
That’s so awesome to hear! I have eaten a nut cheese fr a store that has miso paste in it and I found it added such great flavour to it! If you want to look up cashew cheese recipes and try adding miso to it :)

I never marinate my tofu and tempeh for hours. I find it absorbes a marinate much better if its fried first. Actually, if you marinate tempeh or tofu for hours and then fry, you can never get it crispy enough or the marinate will just get burned!

Can you substitute the ½ tbsp of maple syrup with granulated sugar and water? If so, how much sugar and how much water? I only ask because maple syrup is yummy but pricey, it is where I live anyway! I bet in Canada, the land of maple syrup, it's a bit cheaper 😅

hmm I can't remember the brand but it's a standard non-stick pan! I recommend getting a good non-stick pan :)

You sure you just aren’t gaining weight? Maybe too many carbs? Maybe hormones are getting abnormal from genetics as you’ve aged? I’d see your doctor.
