This fight was a great example of why you must, if you want to train and fight in this style of Boxing, do those same drills that you are doing daily. Those drills are the foundation of this style of Boxing.

As an absolute idol and a man who had his life saved too many times thanks to Tyson's life story and wisdom, I came with Siberia from nothing and built an an elite amateur record in SOCAL, and a student of everything I could learn about his life, I've been following and sharing his story for years. You know this BEST, my man, obviously-after my probation is done, I can’t wait to get to Catskill and train. Your video was perfect; I was saying it throughout all those training clips. Watching his right knee (the push-off knee, as you know more than all of us in this comment section) and the way he closed the distance was a key point. He had that cyst on his rear leg and wore a brace, and he could not close the distance during his recovery time after surgery. It was a heartbreaker to see, but also a lesson.
The real issue started when they knew about his knee injury and his history of being misled after Jim Jacobs and the team around him. Why, then, would these bodybuilders get his upper body to 229 lbs when he was always optimal at 217-220? To add all that lean mass to his upper body while knowing about his knee injury just showed me early on that he wouldn't be able to close the distance in the same way.
However, as you point out in your videos, there are levels to this. I'm just happy Mike showed us that he resorted to the very basic fundamentals to survive-keeping range and distance when he finally realized his legs were no longer the same. It’s a true testament to his adaptability. He didn’t have to overcomplicate things, and that’s something we should all learn from.
As for the female commentator-while I get what you were trying to say, hahaha, it’s New York, and we have to keep it PC-but you know best. Mike was an incredible sponge, learning from Cus D'Amato, Rooney, and Teddy Atlas. His first lessons were to keep his hands up by biting them, something the commentator didn’t even catch. She was asking, “Is it a mouthpiece thing, is it an oxygen thing?” C’mon! What was she even being paid for? She clearly had no clue about Mike’s history. She missed the fact that Mike bit his gloves while in the pocket because unlike the Roy fight he wouldn't even go in a high guard if necessary, just kept trying to slip with shaky legs. Mike realized early on that he had to protect his chin after the first or second round when he got hit. And as you know, the more you get hit, the harder it is to keep your arms up, especially when you’re carrying 200+ lbs of upper body mass.
From then on, Mike played it the safe way, thankfully. The key now is to get that leg taken care of-don’t just recover for three weeks, but take the proper time to heal. Maybe even switch to 10 oz gloves so a 60-year-old can at least have some leeway in endurance to hold his arms up after being tagged. And, for the sake of safety, sanction the rounds to 3 minutes to TLDR: "its not the style but the moral of the intention behind the style". Something jake doesn't have and never will. Honestly, I don’t know why they ever used 14 oz gloves-he’s not a high guard guy, never was. As you know, his style was all about arms tucked in, hands right below the cheekbones and DRILLING DRILLING DRILLING (levels as you talk about in your incredible videos) until he was a ghost who would hit you with refrigerators. Closing the distance, slipping punches, creating angles, and throwing with bad intentions.
I do think Mike could still have pulled it off with 3-minute rounds. He always found a way to win in most of his fights, except for against Evander Holyfield or shall we say Evan Fields AHEM AHEM lol, of course. But I have to say this: Don’t fight again, Mike. Not for the sake of your legacy, but for us kids who come from nothing-addiction, gangs, violence. You saved us all, and we don’t want to see you go out like this. You are the greatest fighter of all time. At 5'10" and 220 lbs of pure technique and explosion, with the second shortest reach and second shortest heavyweight undisputed champion height, you defined greatness.
And yes, I believe in the Norlin fight, Norlin twisted Mike's knee, not Mike himself. If Mike ever fights again, my advice would be to fully recover, get back to Catskill, and train with guys who learned from the masters of Cus D'Amato's Peek-a-Boo style-like Teddy and everyone who grew up around him and passed on that knowledge to you. They weren’t just groupies like post Jim Jacobs, Teddy, and esp Rooney, and ofc the legend Constantine D' Amato. Like Mike’s MMA coach who kept saying, “Perfect Mike, beautiful, amazing, wooooo!” Mike never liked that. EVER, hated it, even in that sparring KO clips weeks ago "DONT F W E MAN HOW DID I DO DONT BS ME MAN" for a "PERFECT MIKE OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW AAAAAAAAAAMAZING MIKE AMAZING THATS IT JAKE IS OVER DONE"...... I’ll never forget an interview with Pamela, months after Mike beat Berwick, where she mentioned that Mike would come to Pamela feeling depressed because everyone would tell him how great he was doing-but Cus would always find something wrong to fix as there has never been a boxing scientific genius like Cus nor will there probably ever be. Nothing was ever perfect for Cus, and Mike missed that and NEEDED that. That young Mike with the lack of any ego made him who he was and everyone around him and the drugs and the Don Kings of the world and etc etc.... Remembering that moment was hard for me.

Mike did great the first two rounds.
Then he stayed outside and ate Jake's straight punches for remaining 6.
The head slipping helps him evade the first couple of punches but after he done slipping, he could not close the distance or counterpunch effectively.
Also, the more he slipped, the more his stamina got drain.
I think Mike is shoehorned into the Cus style. The lack of static blocking and mobility got Mike into trouble when he stop slipping and Jake still continued to throw his combos e.g: the triple left hook.
Mike just chewed his gloves the entire fight. I mean come on Mike, what are you doing?
This fight really hurts the perception of the Cus style. It was excruciating to see him like this.

Tyson's footwork was the problem. I see it that way too. He also had a stamina problem, probably due to his years of drug and alcohol problems. But his reflexes were still there and so was his fighting heart, just like his quick hands. Tyson wanted to counter him because he realized that he couldn't cut off the ring and put him on the ropes. But Paul was too smart to just run into a Tyson counterattack. I'm also a big Tyson fan and I'm still proud of what he achieved at that age.

@@peekabooboxingacademy 100% agree, Mike is following the road that most greats can, as I believe he has had one if not the hardest life of any man in history, most great fighters can never quit until its too late. James Toney, Mayweather (he CANNOT STOP until its over like Evander vs Vitor per say), EVANDER, no this was not about money for Mike. It was about the ego again, I highly blame Joe Rogan's sparking that shit. As a recovering drug addict of 7 years now and fighting and winning in fantastic fashion I DO ALSO pray Mike was not smoking but he did look like he was chewing on shrooms before the fight. It makes you sentimental af and he even admits that he is addicted WHEN he can on certain days of his mood on podcasts and such. The roy fight with Rogan where Rogan convinced him pretty much to bring out the Ego and extending chair shit Mike said, "Right Joe sometimes we smoke a lot sometimes" Joe ofc changed subjects immediately as he's a denial addict who has been a projecting pothead drug addict for too many years to have ANY self awareness now. I mean I SOLELY blame him and Joey Diaz after I detached my retina and was sick just smoking my depression away to be influenced to start taking those 100mg moon bars that led to 3000mg daily for 3 years. For me personally falling into Marijuana addiction which led to moon bar addictions which led to opiates and years of benzos then alcohol then finally fucking amphetamines and going to jail for Assault w deadly weapon which i didnt even think was real (some karate kid shit we joked about all our lives) in Cali since there is no self defense laws. The deputies told me if i killed the fucker i wouldn't have been in the dungeons. Anyways long story again but 4 punches a 3-4 to the head and 3-4 to the spleen cost me my life. His words won "i was shelling up" homie you didnt even SEE the 2 piece being drunk sweating ur ass off in the prelims lying to hell. YOUR 300 lb fat ass body hitting the ground made your arms bruised to shit. This isnt about me though but a perspective. When they got the my Team USA book from my mom it was over. I rather have him smoke and shroom it up all day BUT it leads to thoughts like this and career and at this point life and legacy (well that would be almost impossible to break being the Greatest imo and many others and I'm barely just turned 26 but fighting since 7), it's just time Mike. Smoke and just chill again or better yet if ANYONE can be SOBER it's HIM. The 0.001% disease that no one wins, he can, but i aint talking CALI SOBER. We saw what that did in the Roy Jones fight being sentimental and now this with the injuries.

I think there is a third factor beyond age and injury which for sure played a part, but I think mentally there was something going on that night and even leading up to it that impacted the performance. I saw a lot of Mike reacting to opportunities too late. By the time he reacted the moment had passed so he wound up doing a lot of waiting for the next opening that never came. You can see his ability to articulate words diminished as well as the fight became closer, plus the excessive glove biting. Something was going on with his mind on top of the pain of knee, neck, and back injuries, and whatever he was recovering from the ulcer.

As a 50-something person what bothered me the most in the post-fight analysis of this fight is the fact that many people are attributing Tyson's performance MERELY or ENTIRELY to age. Age was certainly a factor, and probably the biggest factor, but that was not a healthy, well-trained 58 year-old in the ring on Friday. I would love to know exactly what was wrong with Tyson--he appeared to me to be seriously unwell and injured from before the fight began.

I felt Mike did this only for financial gain. He's really wasn't into this for honor, As soon as I seen him walking into the area towards the ring I knew something was up. Mike has had his fill with honor, honor doesn't pay the bills. He was tempted and gave into the temptation, with a offer that he couldn't resist. You can't really blame the man for that. We all would've given into that kind of temptation. Yet, at the same time, I have to admit I don't have the same respect for Mike as I did after seeing that performance.

Theres a possibility that it couldve been rigged maybe he just doesnt care about boxing like he did when he was younger but the fight shouldnt have happened in the first place since the only thing mike gained from the fight even if he wins is money. Maybe if boxers still have that drive to do their thing at older ages they should stick with their own generation.. Its just younger pugilists will almost always have the advantage as far as superior speed, footwork and reflexes..

To make me feel better I’d love to think it’s scripted however I don’t. It’s obvious that his legs weren’t there and that’s the reason he lost, if his legs where there I believe he definitely would of won. If he fought jake like he fought Roy then I believe Mike would of been the victor. I too Carter have studied mike for a long time and look up to him, last night was a hard night indeed. 🥊🥊

I don't think it was rigged, Mike was 58 and it was terrible to watch since mike just stood there and took punches he kinda moved his head but its hard to expect to knockout Jake Paul at 58 but reality is mike was never the same after prison and after the Holyfield fight he was finished

You could see it on his face as he walked to the ring (and even tripped) that he knew he was too hurt to fight. But what are you gonna do? Cancel? Postpone? Theres $20M in it for you if you can man up and get in the ring (even if you don’t need the money, lets see you turn down $20M because Jake Paul might beat you up lol). He got sick before the first scheduled fight, and the odds he’d get healthy before time truly caught up to him if he postponed were slim.
Despite Jake’s persona, he didnt have the heart to beat up an old man who was clearly injured as well. You could tell even Jake was disappointed and decided just to win on points and go easy on him.
The glove thing… i also wonder if mike was in an extreme amount of pain and was biting his glove in an attempt to distract himself. I clench my teeth a lot when boxing now because i also have oain in my knees (getting old sucks).
In the end, im happy i got to see mike in the ring, and im happy he went all 8 rounds and didnt get hurt. I dont think it was rigged, i think it was a man too injured to fight vs a boy who repected him enough not to hurt him further.
Id be interested in seeing what that original fight would have been like though, if mike hadnt had the medical emergency back in June.

The entire fight was just so damn hard to watch. This entire thing shouldnt have happened. The moment i saw the open workout, I already had doubts on whether tyson would perform as people expected. Something i noticed from this fight was that there were a lot of moments where jake was just open while in reaching distance of mike and he just looked like he was just comtemplating whether to go in or not the entire time.

    Good job Bru !!
I don’t believe that issues with the knees or legs was the main cause for this appearance !!
Mike didn’t actually moved ! He didnt perform not 1/5 of what he was shown off in sparring where he knocked down his partner !! All of a sudden he got health problems on the ring ????
I believe it was a made up bout and in fact I don’t blame him at all !!
One final thing is that in this bout he was trying a bit outboxing and he was not trying to get in , this kinda of alteration of his style most probably has to do with his corner man !!
Alteration on his style were attempted with Buster Douglas and in fact Tyson has knocked down even Ian sparring before the bout , and this IMO was the reason of his loss ( apart that Douglas had a long count as well ). As Kevin Rooney put it back then, he had became a puncher , he punches you and you go down , you punch him and he is going down !!

Another thing I kinda agree with George when he was walking out his face said it all kinda just resigned, in a way after cus passed tyson lost his way and the classic style of peek a boo! I'm as upset as you cause it kinda brought up old feelings from his old fights that whole "I don't have the animal", "I don't have this in my heart anymore" he should have never got in the ring with jp imo he tarnished a lot of his legacy and respect in a lot of people's eyes💯 but we still love him they'll only ever be 1 MIKE TYSON!

Yeah it's a lot to say about this fight but what happened exactly like Tony Jeffries said, aftee this fight we will be left with the same thought "that's exactly what i thought would happen" either Jake would win or Mike would get em which the second choice I think we all wanted to believe that but a lot of things were against Mike here, but I do despise the idea of Mike having another nick on his record due to an exhibition fight specially to a youtuber 🤦🏽‍♂️ if one thing we can all agree on: Somebody gotta get Paul, and ill tell you this, I wish to train with you and do it myself. I want Paul.

Well said Carter I have to agree with everything you said. Yes his legs were gone. Even with the ring walk Mike tripped on his own feet walking in ? You say he had head movement yes to some degree however not Peek a Boo head movement ? Yes I agree again I noticed that Mike was standing on the outside; standing still like his legs had locked or as Andre Ward said his mind telling him what to do however his legs failing to do it. Why an earth doe's he have Billy White in his corner when known fact that Billy White doe's not know the Peek a Boo style and has been found out
