    Make some room for the new Doblo. Fiat's practical people carrier is back, and this time it has more space than ever. With longer, wider and taller dimensions, plus updated styling, the new Doblo has rivals like the Skoda Roomster and Citroen Berlingo firmly in its sights.
    The Doblo still looks boxy, and its unique appearance will still split opinion, but Fiat has made a good attempt at making it that much easier to love. The front end now looks more up-to-date and the overall outline is softer and easier on the eye compared to the previous version.
    Inside, the cabin has been given a dramatic makeover too. The spacious design means the Doblo is a relaxing place to be and with lots of headroom and plenty of space for five passengers, the Doblo is ideal for big families. For an extra £800, Fiat can also fit two extra seats in the rear. But if you want to stick with the more standard five seat set-up, the Doblo has a class-leading 790-litres of boot space and the parcel shelf is extremely sturdy, with the capability of supporting up to 70kg.
    The engine line-up has been updated too, with three new options available made up of a 1.4-litre petrol, and 1.6 and 2.0-litre MultiJet diesels. Fiat expects the 1.6 diesel to be its biggest seller and this is the version that we tested.
    Delivering 105bhp and 290Nm of torque the Doblo feels surprisingly quick despite its passive 0-62mph time, and it feels good all the way up through the ranges too, with more than enough power when you need it. Fuel economy is rated at 54.3mpg which is good for its class, and emissions are measured at a very respectable 138g/km.
    Handling has been improved too, steering feels more precise now, grip is surprisingly good, with body-roll far less evident than in the previous car. The Doblo is also very competitively priced. Starting from £12,295 for the entry-level 1.4-litre Active petrol, the cheapest model in the range costs less than its equivalent Skoda and Renault rivals. Combin this with its improved driving characteristics and high levels of practicality, the new Doblo makes a very strong case for itself and would make an attractive all round alternative to the usual suspects if you're in the market for a new family car.Few panel vans have received the level of recognition awarded to the Fiat Doblo. In 2006, this leisure activity vehicle was named International Van of the Year and continued to break boundaries for innovation. The Fiat Doblo first entered the market in 2001 and despite its Italian heritage has been produced in countries as far-reaching as Brazil, Russia, Turkey and Vietnam. The Fiat Doblo was restyled in 2005 and there have been many electric versions of the van produced. Indeed in 2007, an all-electric version of the Fiat Doblo was unveiled, taking the vehicle into a new era

    Someone obviously hasn't read the handbook. You should not attempt to start a diesel engine until after the coil light has extinguished!

    Bought an 08 Doblo 2 years ago for £3999 and just part exchanged it for £1500 - and believe me I consider myself lucky to have got that much. It was the worst car I have ever had and I've had around 25 cars in the 50 years I've been driving. Look at the problems on any Fiat Doblo problem page and you'll see quite a few that are common to all of them. Clutch problems, warning light problems, engine management problems, shock absorber problems etc, etc. And don't think I may have just had a bad one, this was my third Doblo (first two bought in Spain when I lived there) and they all have had at least 3 problems each that were exactly the same - mainly clutches. My advice? Stay well clear of Fiat Doblos!

      ***** The first one I bought was only 3 door (excluding the rear) and when the clutch failed for the second time in 4 years, plus the front wheel tracking problem could not be resolved, the garage offered me a new car with a part exchange deal I could not refuse (brand new cost of 1st car was 12000€ and they gave me 9000€ P/E on the second Doblo that cost 14000€ with 4 doors and upgraded items such as electric mirrors, electric windows and drivers arm rest etc., so I only had to fork out another 5000€ which I considered very good for 4 years motoring, 140,000kms continental travel on it and depreciation.) Second car had one clutch and warning light cluster replaced under warrantee. Following that I had front wheel tracking problem again (never resolved) mirror and windscreen wiper fall of (both replaced FOC) and rear shocks knocking when I sold it and returned to England. Because I liked the interior space and I had accessories from the second Doblo (roof rack, ski rack, wheel chains, bike rack and mud flaps) and I thought the problems I had encountered were confined to either the fact that Spanish Doblos didn't have as high a quality check as UK Doblos or perhaps the type of motoring I did in Spain (lots of mountains, towing a trailer tent, high mileage touring Europe etc.) I thought I would chance another Doblo in the UK. Alas, it failed to deliver...clutch failure, rear shock failure, front discs replacement, exhaust nearing replacement and finally engine management light staying on (the diagnosis for that was diesel particulate failure estimated cost of repair in excess of £700.) That's when I decided I wasn't going to throw any more money at it and chopped it in. I've bought a Citroen Berlingo (new shape) Automatic and could not be more pleased. Best car I have ever owned and that's the truth! Look at any Doblo forum and it's full of problems. Do the same on a Berlingo forum and it's the complete opposite. One guy even said it was the biggest mistake of his life P/E his Berlingo for a Doblo because he needed a bigger space in the rear. To be honest, I haven't found that much difference and the fact that the Berlingo rear seats can be just lifted out (you have to remove 4 bolts on the Doblo) is a real bonus for me. Sorry it's a lengthy reply but you did ask! LOL!

      robinlikes2learn ...I've been offered one for free,been standing 3yrs on a SORN,06 plate 84k..but the last thing he mentioned was the particulate thing and going into limp mode.its free so I'm going to take it,but throwing money at it doesn't sound a good idea🤔🇬🇧

    DONT EVER GET THE DOLBO!!,one of the worst vehicles ever made.I ve had 5 major breakdowns already and there is always gonna be minor problems lingering around here and there.The dealership are hardly any help too

      I have a 2006 Doblo Multijet work van. The car never broke down. One time i drove it through a flood and water got in the bell housing. The clutch bearing went bad and was replaced a few months later. The only thing that ever went wrong.
