    I'm glad I hunted for a video on this piece when I stumbled upon some pictures of the seal story. This is the most amazing story I've ever seen. Better than any book I've read or any movie I've watched. :') I realized I teared up in the end. Again, love this piece. Thank you for bring us something so amazing and powerful.

    Shoot, I'll go!!! I don't know the first thing about diving, or that kind of environment, but you can't deny the beauty of the animals and their natural habitat and it would be a tragedy of the utmost proportion for all that to disappear forever. :'(

    Wow! I am deeply moved by his love for all animals, and his love for the ice and all that survive there. He has a deep understanding of how animals live and survive! His humor mixed with his genuine emotion, spoke to my soul. I wish everyone truly cared, as he does....maybe the world wouldn't be endangered, along with these precious species that sustain our lives. Greedy, power hungry corporations, unfortunately, will NEVER care. Sad.

    • @standoughope
      @standoughope 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      For me it starts with an extraordinary adventure for a photographer up north. Then the interaction with the spirit bear... and the music, such soothing music. It gets sad thinking of the dwindling lives in the region namely the polar bears. =( It picks back up thanks to the amazing experience that Paul had with the leopard seals! Quite moving. The highlight of this TED upload aside form the once in a lifetime photos is the genuine passion that Paul has leading up to the deserving standing ovation. He was close to breaking down in tears. Paul in a span of less than 18 minutes gifted us with an example of why we scientists do what we do, the fascination and wonder. I hope that that helps! =)

      Because he's a good public speaker - not everyone is - and a born storyteller to boot. He's telling you about something you'll never see with your own eyes (probably not anyway) but he tells the story in such a way that you feel as if you're there yourself, in person. It's poignant, too, because there's a good chance these animals won't be there at all, in another 5-10 years or so. And don't let the climate deniers tell you any different.

    • @DianeHasHopeInChrist
      @DianeHasHopeInChrist 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe Paul's deep passion and love for saving the environment these animals live on, touched that basic human decency to help all of God's creatures.
