I now know that a lot of marbles I dig in dumps are Alley ones. They are very nice beautiful vintage mibs. It's great to see all the various mibs in all your videos.
I MISS Ron !!! R.i.p. Ron looked IDENTICAL to my best friend Ron (from northern Pa.) Lost him two yrs ago, not only could they pass for twin brothers, they BOTH had the SAME EXACT voice ! So, i often come back to these videos just to see and hear Ron because there were very few pictures of my best friend and no videos of him. Both Ron's were very knowledgeable. Hope everyone is as best as can be and enjoying this very hot summer.
This video helped me with all of my corals, I attributed most to champion but because Ron shepherd is the marble god I took them all out of my champions and put them with my alleys.
Stephen, I am new to the hobby. Your videos are invaluable for a beginner like me. Thank you so much for creating them. They and you are appreciated more than you can know. God bless.
Trying to identify marbles from my childhood collection. Your videos are quite helpful. I live in West Virginia, and I bought them at flea markets when I was young. Thanks.
Great show 👍 I don't think I'll ever be able to tell marbles apart from the makers of them but I am beginning to tell what the difference between vintage and new because of the information you have on your videos. Thanks much!!!🏹
Thank you SO MUCH! Not enough attention is paid to the "WV Swirls" and they are beautiful marbles! The river has given me some nice gifts (marbles) this past week: (50 to be exact!) We were out there in 38 degrees Saturday, had a blast! (And I hate cold weather! 🥶 But it was worth it!)
Hi Stephen, I rescued a box of marbles when I was helping a friend clean out his parents house. The marbles were very old and being tossed in the garbage. I took them for my grandkids to play with. This last weekend we were playing with them and I noticed their unique beauty. I was wondering if there are any that are collectable and worth separating from those that are in use/ abuse. Could I send you a photo of some of these on a plate? I have not counted them but know there are several hundred. I am not asking for a detailed assesment. Just a yes there are some worth keeping or play away. Thanks Rod
Steve, do they (not sure who they would be) allow folks to come and dig around on the old factory sites? Or are they all blocked off with no trespassing?
Hi David, most all sites are on private property and digging illegal. I believe the Alley site is a superfund site because of the chemicals from the glass production, and was taken over by the state or local government.
On a public forum like this, my short answer would be “no”. If you use your imagination, you could see plenty of risky scenarios, every site is case specific. 😁
@@stephenbahrmarbles I have 2 marbles of the same make an colors that I found in a pre 1950s dump within minutes of each other and need your help identifying. Any help would be much appreciated. I can send you some pics in an email. Thanks man 👍✌
@@stephenbahrmarbles Thanks! I like some of the other aqua's. I'll focus on greens. Too easy to go down the financial rabbit hole. I started a small collection today via ebay. I'll store them in a small jar or go to Michaels and find those Plano storage boxes.
@@stephenbahrmarbles Good morning. I bought a few more from ebay, I am bidding on a few more and then I'll cool it for awhile. Is it hard to identify the maker of the marbles? I know I have the info from ebay site but as time goes by. I might go to Michael's shop and look for a plastic Plano storage box.
Hi Eric , many marbles are tricky to identify for sure. The sellers on eBay are usually accurate but it’s not always the case . You could or should ask the seller how certain they are of thier identifications. You should also do as much research as possible to hone your own identification skills. There’s a lot of layers to the hobby .
hello stephen, i noticed you pronounce pel -tear i always heard it as pel tee aye, i enjoy the marbles, how many marbles would it take for you to consider a true collector? thanks for the vids. roger
What is the pronunciation of Paltier? Break 'peltier' down into sounds: [PEL] + [TEE] + [AY] - say it out loud and exaggerate the sounds until you can consistently produce them
Aussom, you have added a whole new perspective to my marble collecting hobby

Yes Barry I’ve seen your dig photos and it seems a lot of your swirls are Alley. They are the most abundant of the West Virginia Swirls.

Thanks for sharing that story Shang, ironically Ron loved, just LOVED storytelling. He was a joy to film with! 💯 missed !
Lovely video! I have some swirls on their way to me and I can already tell this is going to be very helpful.
Cool Alyssa! I would think this would help with your sorting

@@stephenbahrmarbles awesome, champions are the hardest of all the swirls to I’d correctly.
Fascinating...didn't know Marble designs were so complex.

Alley has to be my favorite, just bc it’s my favorite I’ve ever found in the wild.
That’s a good reason, they made some treasures for sure ✅
Man that exotic coral is sick!
These marbles are pretty cool. I have some that are similar.
Things in Kansas they really made some terrific pieces. West Virginia’s finest, I hope you are enjoying your collection!

Great videos! Thank you so much. Can you please tell me what US companies are still making marbles?
Where to buy them are you on Etsy?
Hi Jill I’m not on Etsy but you can get them there and eBay, also flea markets, marble shows and garage sale. Always ask ! You never know
I have a newer sulphide with a green frog inside. It is signed and it looks like Jim Davis. Do you know if this person made marbles?

Wow"" I have several have had them 80 yrs were my grandfather from during war times. Didn't realize they were worth anything.
Nice Whisper ! Most of the Alley marbles showcased here have plenty of value.
Mine are still in boxes with war date .Germany, Italy, also some from Civil War, from my Navajo great grandfather. Just don't know how to sell.
Those sound like some old school historical marbles! Maybe you can hand them down to someone in your family.
