I really think that these challenge runs work way better in BotW because of the weapons mostly. But I’m not saying I don’t like fuse, it is just that in BotW the weapons are just more pure I guess
That's why I love BotW runs too!!
Still I've been loving Tears runs just as much, because they feel like a massive remix on what was established in BotW (Gerudo run was awesome in both games!)

@@Reaktron88Yeah I honestly don’t like fuse since it makes every weapon be super bad until you make it ugly with a dumb horn or something. It also makes the race specific gear feel pointless
They are definitely more pure in botw

@@CrotonAs you should. The Drillshaft’s obviously the most effective weapon. (I’m not kidding I spent so long using every single drillshaft I had it my inventory to kill one white lynel and I think I need mental help).

FINALLY! The races of the wild prove they can muster their strength and take the calamity HEAD-ON. With that, all the beings on Hyrule have been showcase in a BotW challenge. Proud of you, Croton!

I'm glad to still see Breath of the Wild, because TotK is great but it doesn't diminish its predecessor at all. Even though as a _viewer_ it took some getting used to not having the new abilities (were you depending on Tulin at 16:57?) seeing Hyrule not covered in Zonai ruins, sky islands and horned monsters is like a "breath" of fresh air. Plus, I miss the more unique weapons BotW had, like our partner for this challenge, the Drillshaft.
P.S. I think the Gut Check Challenge and Test of Will would have been good to include in this run. They're how Link proves he's an honorary Goron, after all.
Honestly my depth perception was just really off so that's why I failed that one
But I totally agree about BotW, there's so many standout features that make me appreciate it sperate from Tears!! Especially the boss fights which are much more technical and replayable
The Gut Check Challenge and Test of Will were originally gonna be in this run, but I was just so eager to start the finale that I just opted for the rock roast quest as that's my favorite of the bunch :)
Imagine a Tears of the Kingdom version of this where you're allowed to use weapons other than Goron weapons (and shield), but you MUST fuse rocks to every weapon (Talus hearts count)

Croton, I have a really good idea. So everyone loves these “can you beat botw with ???” Series, and a type of these series is beating canon with hero/trailer armor. You know how in the trailer link always wear champions tunic, hylia trousers, and travelers shield, sword, and bow. You should do one with only those. And master sword is allowed as well since it’s in the trailer equipped by link for once😊
I gotta say I’m a new Zelda fan (got botw for Christmas, been obsessed even during exam season at uni lol), and I really like your videos! You just seem to have such a positive attitude towards everything, even when stuff goes wrong, which is really cool! Really like your runs so far! Ignoring all totk for now since I don’t want spoilers and want to keep playing botw a while longer, so seeing a new botw challenge was an awesome surprise!
I also stayed spoiler free until playing, totally worth it for the surprises and being able to discover everything for yourself! Recommend version 1.0.0. no real improvements to the updates and they patch most of the post game glitches when you just want to mess around.
Welcome to the community (for your next game after TOTK I recommend ocarina of time (I will tell you the games are very different before this one and it's sequel more puzzle oriented and linear rather than a massive open world but they are still amazing even as far back as the original games on nes (well i think the are on NES) if you have Nintendo's subscription service you can play all of the nes and and 64 ones one your switch and theres a remake and port of Link's awakening and skyward sword respectively (still no port of my favorite game twilight princess sadly))
So glad to hear you enjoy the runs I play!! They're a really fun way to remix and re-experience things I love about this world :)
When you get around to it, I hope your Tears of the Kingdom playthrough goes well!!! It is also phenomenal in a totally different way

The reason was that there was no bow or Goron like armor set to use. The flame breaker is pretty much just a flame proof suit
@@lordquagsire5714Well, Rito also wouldn't use their theme armor, so what? It's a substitute for what a hylian lacks compared to the other race. Fire-proof suit is an obvious choice, it even has a round helmet and a bulky build, just like a goron.
@@kikosawa yeah I think the run should've allowed flame breaker armor. Would've been less difficult at least.
@@skyellama8374 what's important to understand is that the run would not get less interesting, it would just help to avoid one-shots. Meaning less repetition, more action.

For those of us who watched the run on Twitch over the course of 4 days, we can appreciate what an incredible job Sam did editing this video. I think this is the first challenge run when I truly wondered if he'd be able to complete it. This was truly a huge win!
I'm a little confuse why he didn't use the flamebreaker armor. It's because the real gorons are nude and don't use clothes?

That's it!!! Flamebreaker armor isn't very goron-like to me, plus this made it more of a challenge!

@user-fr7gl4ke2o Perhaps Yiga? While I know you can't get the Yiga Armour in BOTW, there's a lot more Yiga Weapons to use than TOTK, so perhaps that's it?

Malice eyes aren't in some way considered enemies, despite having a healthbar, they are in fact the only enemy that doesn't show up in the compendium, so that might be why.
that or they made weapons not shatter against them as a failsafe, since they are sometimes needed to kill to progress in certain sections.

Do you have plans to do a hero only run (stuff that link uses in the lore ,hylian pants, champions tunic, master sword, pot lid ect) if not that would be a cool idea to do

I think it would be possible to do a Yiga only Botw run. You could dye the sheika armor red and use the duplex bow, windcleaver and other weapons used by the yiga :D

The reason it didn't auto save is because it can't load you on unstable flooring and because it can't load, it won't auto save.

My one complaint is that Gorons actually don't like eating gemstones. Until they learned other races valued them they deemed them all worthless because the taste isn't good
but they come in different flavors like orange and banana and strawberry

Croton just an idea now you have all races challenge runs for BOTW can you do a challenge run where for each region/divine beast you can only grab that specific race’s weapon and then for Hyrule castle grab royal weapons
I'm fairly sure you can do thunder blight in the divine beast there might be something I'm forgetting but I'm fairly sure you can

the only gripe I have about these types of challenge runs is ether they start when you get the paraglider or is 90% spam bomb rune until you get the paraglider. but beyond that I like these videos.
The plateau is basically the same across all these challenge runs, which is why I never include it in the finished vid!
