      I am not at all heartbroken by Solas' choice. I for one wants to see him rise and reclaim what rightfully belongs to the elves. At the same time, I would be extremely happy if it is revealed that Solas is the maker and he manipulated human race into creating chantry that neuters the mages, mages who are the most powerful force in the continent of thedas. And this situation also completely divided the human race without any chance of actual unity. I want to see him as an actual manipulator who pulled the strings of fate of all races on thedas to achieve his goal. But sadly, I believe EAWare will screw it up.

    Solas: *the smartest and wisest character we know who has thousands of years of experience and knows how to disguise himself and be dishonest*
    Also Solas: "I can't do it, I'm not gonna drink this shit." *shoves away the cup of tea*
    Also the fact that it was an inside joke in the inquisition and the only person who knows in cannon is the Inquisitor means that our Inquisitor probably ran around telling people this 😂 Or the kitchen staff that confirmed and reported that he was very picky with his tea

    I absolutely loved this video. Well done.
    I'm not suprised that Solas went there in person, besides needing to Charter to deliver a message to the Inquisitor. Solas does like his intrigue, especially the Orlesian kind. Fitting that he chose the Orlesian as a disguise.
    I really cannot wait to learn more about the Executors. This short story definitely made that more apparent. If we can side with them in the future too... ah the possibilities. I do wonder what Solas meant when he said they were dangerous? I feel that Solas has enough care for the Inquisitor and Inquisition to warn them to a genuine threat, but perhaps it is just a misdirection from Solas to prevent them from gaining an ally?

    I am suddenly reminded by a scene in Captain America: Winter Soldier when Cap and Sam are talking about Bucky Barnes, aka the winter soldier, and how much Cap wants to save his old friend from what he has become and what he'd been forced to do.
    Sam says something about Bucky along the lines of:
    "he's not the type you save, he's the type you stop" -
    which is the most metal line of all and also something that an old companion might say to the Inquisitor about their attempt to redeem Solas because holy crap is he powerful. I have so many thoughts right now, not all MCU related, but damn am I excited.

      The Qunari have been faltering...Everything about their stability was a lie if you look at the facts. Tallis even said not all Qunari believed in violence that she didn't for one. Apparently the New Arishok and Antaam heavily disagree.

    • @flamesofchaos13
      @flamesofchaos13 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty sure Cassandra is the default. It's what the DAKeep shows and it's the more neutral choice one where the Chantry changes but also keeps the Circles and Templars so they can come back into play later. In a world where Mages are Free in the South yeah that would be a thing the Tevinters and Qunari would respond to...Which we haven't gotten in the Blue Wraith comic. Viv won't be it because Bioware wouldn't force the unpopular choice on the majority of the fans plus it's only really an option in-game for players that wish to be traditionalist towards the Chantry or cause chaos for the fun of it.

      I'm telling people for years now, that the next DA is going to start when Solas is pretty far into his plan. It'll be similar to DAI, start with an explosion of sorts. I'm pretty sure that collapsing the Veil is just a phase 1. We already know he wants to do that, what we're yet to learn is what he intends to do with the remaining elven pantheon.

    • @flamesofchaos13
      @flamesofchaos13 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@hekatebleble4800 Completely agree it's been majorly hinted at that the collapse of the Veil isn't the endgame...Come on I don't understand how people think Thedas will just sit there and die from the Veil being gone?! The Tevinters will LOVE it their magics will be more powerful. The Qun will freak the f**k out killing everything they can to survive and they can do just that murder there way to victory. The Andrastian Chantry has the knowledge this was coming so has been preparing for the Veil to go down they'll use every last soldier, templar and mage they have access to in order to stop Solas and/or protect their cities/nations.
      Plus the Veil collapse won't kill anyone by itself. The Breach was only dangerous because ALL the power of the Fade was pouring into one single place. Once the power is spread through the entirety of the world then nope it ain't gonna be harmful (The Pre-Veil World existed to prove this as fact). What's going to be harmful are the mortal races corrupting Spirits because they're idiots and trying to kill each other to win their racial warfare/because they blame eachother for "the end of the world" and magic being spread to everyone like Sandal said.
      The Magic isn't what's going to kill people...It never has before. What has killed people before is the abusing of magic and fear of magic for selfish reasons. The bad guys are the mortals that will kill each other off for power and/or desperation. With the Veil gone EVERYONE will have the potential to be one of the baddies. (They already did but even more of a chance now.)

    • @hekatebleble4800
      @hekatebleble4800 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Flames Of Chaos finally someone who knows their lore :) it's not even like Sandal said "Magic will come back...some of it". Nope, he said "All of it". The Veil collapsing is only a matter of "when". And I wouldn't be surprised if it would turn out to be the beginning of DA4. I wouldn't prefer it though, as it could be too hard for the narration to handle without previously offering us some context which is much needed for the average player. Probably not even helf into the game, though. The reaction I'm most anticipating myself is the one from the very pillars of the earth. That can be a bummer ;) We all know the Elves of old were elbows deep in Titans but the way Solas intends to deal with the land itself getting pissed may offer some much needed context. And it's most likely tied to the very existence of the red lyrium idol.

    • @flamesofchaos13
      @flamesofchaos13 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hekatebleble4800 That's why I want Origins to return have the player go through that first explaining the politics of the North and the PC's background/understanding of the world, magic, elves etc. Then the tie to all the tales is the Veil going away and Solas personally attacking where you're at for whatever reason. Or perhaps one of the consequences of the Veil being gone is another Blight or two happens immediately...If so then let's become Wardens again to tie the story together.
      The options for race should in my opinion be Avvar, Tevinter Magister and Slave and Imperial Templar, Antivan Crow, Kal-Sharok Rock-Knocker or Purifed Sha-Brytol, Ancient Elf just awakened or Reborn Evanuris, Qunari Karasten and Qunari Ben-Hassrath and Renegade Saarebas.

    Since Solas is the one who created the veil and may also have been present during the time the children of the Stone was severed from the rest of it's "body", preventing them from dreaming/the Fade, he may also know the secrets to reconnecting them or creating a bridge between the Fade and those who have less/no connection to magic as an expert on the subject?

      I think Whats happening with Solas... is he can turn into a giant wolf shaped pride demon in the fade at will. Either that or he’s friends with a pride spirit. So right now he’s the most powerful mage/being/spirit in the fade. So Mythal is a spirit that can turn into any creature in the waking world... and Solas can morph in the fade. Or maybe her power he stole lets him morph into a dragon sized pride demon. Mmmm. Lol. Anyways

    Kind of funny/ironic how he made that remark to Bull about the Qunari’s “practices” with their people, and yet just a few years later he’s made himself so powerful, that he’s now at the point where his enemies or just anyone who vexes him can’t escape him even when they sleep.

    Solas has spirits come with him that are implied to be spirits of Valour and Justice (the Mortalasi seems to be trying to cover their own backside) and we know Weekes is sympathetic to Solas. I personally took them to be spirits instead of demons, and think that adds more sympathy/grey to him, because we clearly have to fight him in DA4. I'm so looking forwards to it!

  • @BelieveIt1051

    This is one of the problems I had with Trespasser, that Solas has the ability to visit the Inquisitor in dreams, as proven by the epilogue slide in which he will visit a romanced Levellan. This means Solas can kill the Inquisitor at any time (during sleep), and this should actually be the case if the Inquisitor offended Solas during the events of the game AND if the Inquisitor chose to disband the Inquisition. The only reason Solas lets an Inquisitor he hates survive is because to kill him or her would be to encourage more chaos and needless bloodshed. But if that possibility is removed, or forced, by the Inquisitor through disbanding the Inquisition, then Solas really has no reason not to kill such an ex-Inquisitor.
    This is why I don't have confidence in Patrick Weekes' ability to create a full-fledged RPG story. He fails to account for various alternative story paths. It seems like he has his own story in mind and will just funnel all possible story branches into it, even if that means breaking those branches or not accounting for the relevant facts.
    Another issue brought up in your video is the Warden-Commander. I doubt this is supposed to be THE Hero of Ferelden/Orlesian Warden-Commander. In BioWare's canon the Hero is dead, and even if alive I see no reason to be at an auction for a ring from Celine. Then again, if Weekes is failing to account for the various facts contained within different story branches, then maybe this is supposed to be the Hero. Though the purpose of the Hero's presence escapes me. You could say it's to meet up with Leliana, except she might not even be on good terms with the Hero, let alone be the Divine.
    As for the possibility of the Hero not returning simply because the Inquisitor wants people Solas doesn't know, I don't think that quite makes sense. I mean, the Inquisitor is still using Charter in this story, right? We'll also still probably meet up with Dorian in DA4. Solas knows Charter. Also, the Inquisitor will want to use people Solas does know in order to serve as a distraction, so the people he doesn't know can do their work. Besides that, the Hero's quest is independent from the (ex-)Inquisitor's anyway, so an appearance is still possible. As I have stated before, if the Hero doesn't make at least a cameo appearance in DA4, then I won't buy it. The story is too big for the Hero not to be involved, especially when you factor the cure for the taint into this. If Solas is going to use the red lyrium idol, then logically he will want to purify it first. This is likely why Flemeth taught Morrigan magics that would lead her to research that would send the Hero off to find the cure. It would be bad writing to leave that plot thread hanging when the cure quest and red lyrium stories converge so naturally. Oh wait, Weekes isn't good at overarching storylines, I forgot.

    • @ohdeer8920
      @ohdeer8920 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You have a point, but Solas explicitly states he does not want to kill the inquisitor because it would basically be chaos, especially if the inquisition isn’t disbanded. He secretly hopes the inquisitor can stop him as well, or at least hopes that they can defeat him because he knows that what he is doing is wrong.
      If you dislike the story-telling, then why are you here? So you can bitch and debate? It’s not productive.

    • @BelieveIt1051
      @BelieveIt1051 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@felisszerjin9073 I think Weekes is talented at dialogue writing and basic plot ideas, but he's not good at forming a logical storyline structure. In Hushed Whispers was his also, I think. IHW was terrible and full of plot holes. Trespasser is the same. What's worse, both of these are also against player choice by forcing all players into the same storyline. No choice you make in either story matters. That is not a good formula for an RPG.

    • @BelieveIt1051
      @BelieveIt1051 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ohdeer8920 No, Solas makes the point that the Inquisitor needs to focus on fixing the Inquisition. He also says to kill the Inquisitor would only cause more chaos and needless bloodshed. So logically that means a disbanded Inquisition removes the potential for chaos and needless bloodshed, and thus Solas has no reason not to kill the now ex-Inquisitor that he hates and is a threat to his plans.
      I'm here to discuss the story, like everyone else. I loved Inquisition, Jaws of Hakkon, and The Descent. These were made by others with Weekes assisting. Trespasser was all Weekes, and it was terrible. So I am raising some concern about what DA4 will be with him as lead writer.

    • @ohdeer8920
      @ohdeer8920 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BelieveIt1051 Yeah. Because the best place to raise concerns is the bottom of the comment section on a TH-cam video.
      Killing the Inquisitor will still create chaos even if they disband the inquisition. They have ties all over Thedas still, as well as a potential hand in whatever their companions chose to do after Trespasser.
      We also don’t know the inquisitor’s status right now, unless I missed something. Solas wants everyone to die in comfort if he has no choice but to resort to genocide. It’s still needless bloodshed by killing the inquisitor who still supports and handles other organizations and problems throughout Thedas. Leading the inquisition gave them power, something a Dalish inquisitor will admit to Josephine during the sequences in Haven. Every inquisitor has influence beyond the inquisition no matter what their choices are.
      Solas also believes that the inquisitor won’t be able to stop him. But based on his dialogue during the base game and trespasser, he hopes that the inquisitor may still be able to stop him because he’s still aware that he’ll be creating mass genocide.
      Compared to The Descent and JoH, Trespasser was the most strongest DLC for me because it had much clearer ties to the next two games. It wrapped up many companion’s stories in a very nice way, the dlc itself gameplay and art wise was beautiful and I loved playing around with new anchor abilities (which was the weakest part of the game for me, honestly).
      I didn’t have a problem with the writing because it made sense. Solas explains quite literally everything you ask him except for how he plans to take down the veil and how he locked away the other elven “gods”. He explains why he’s doing what he’s doing, and why he understands killing the inquisitor despite them disbanding the inquisition would still create chaos. Imagine a nobody rising up to power that was described to rival world leaders, dying out of nowhere. There would be confusion and fear given the inquisitor’s “protector” role for Thedas after Corypenis. It’s obvious, because like I said before, the inquisitor solidified their power throughout Thedas with the help of the inquisition, but their influence would remain even after it disbanded. They are a hero x5 (counting all the major events they quelled.) and that would definitely earn you ties all over Thedas. (Counting and not counting what you can do for options through the game like becoming leader of the HB, or creating alliances during WEWH.)
      Feel free to make your own canon storyline though? Or just make fan fiction to suite whatever you want the story to be, if you’re so unhappy. Because like I said before, saying the stuff here doesn’t do anything.
      And then there’s the point you brought up about using people Solas knows. In the story, Charter makes it clear that Solas and her never interacted much. He was described as quiet and usually sticking to himself and his research.
      And finally, your point about the hero that I forgot to mention. If you’re going to complain that BioWare can’t account for branching storylines, then complain that if the Hero doesn’t show up, the game isn’t worth it, then why bother with the games at all? Origins wasn’t meant to have sequels if I recall, given the endings companions and other characters can have. (One that implies strongly that Cullen is dead, for example). A huge factor to consider is that your hero is silent. Their personality isn’t set like Hawke’s and the inquisitor’s (it’s not outright said through The Keep, but companions can have comments if you use certain dialogue choices often, like choosing the numerous witty ones will earn you a comment from Cassandra). The hero doesn’t have voiced dialogue either, and they have a wide range of voice actors that made basic grunts. If they did bring back THoF, fans would riot because some aspect wasn’t done right, or some part of their warden wasn’t mentioned, blah blah, all that good stuff. We saw what happened with Hawke. People said he wasn’t good enough, but then we have people like you who still want to push for the Hero to come back who arguably has the most options for personality and customization and roleplaying potential. If you’re not playing your character, they won’t be played how you wanted. Especially without a set personality like Hawke’s.

    @Jackdaw could the idol be him when he saw the body of mythal the first time she died ? he could have created it for when he made the ritual to "banished'' the gods in the fade ...or locked in a place and that idol is a kind of key? could it be a part of a titan and that's why it is so powerful..could it have been a blue lyrium idol at first and it got fed red lyrium and in doing so turned red. could he have said a half-truth in the story he told as the bard ( I saw a comment on another of your video about what Gauche means but the person forgot that it means clumsy too...)

    Of course he's a pride demon. Solas' entire tragic story has been one of a guy who is always like "i'll do it, myself" despite being the one who f***ed everything up in the first place. That world is gone. And it's gone because he killed it. He can't bring it back. All he can do is destroy the one that exists for a new one that looks like his old one. He of course doesn't think that through because of his pride. He is pride. Because spirits don't work through emotions, they embody them as he eloquently put it.
    because he is proud and so sure he is right, some people will believe his bullshit. Some will believe it because they want to. Others will go along because their interests align. But to anyone already trying to buy what he's selling they can see right through him.
    Solas isn't doing what's right. He's doing what HE THINKS is right. Just like he thought he was right when he did this to the world in the first place. And he's not getting all of this power to do what's objectively the right thing to do. He's doing it to get power so that he can do what he wants.
