Dana Brown is the Astros GM because the owner wanted a yes-man. It has nothing to do with whether or not he is the best man for the job. The owner wants a GM who is "soft". He wants somebody who will go along with him --- somebody who will never challenge him. The previous GM knew too much. He knew how to build a strong farm system. He knew how to put together a championship club. It's still too early to pass judgment on Dana Brown.

Interested what Astros fans would want for Tucker from the Cubs farm. The only way this happens is if The Cubs plan to do a sign and trade, for 10/375 or something like that. Eric name dropped Pete Crow Armstrong, but he's not a "farm" guy. He already is part of the Cubs core. Had a 2.7 WAR in only 123 games. And struggled early, but really started to turn it on in the second half. Which is exactly what you want to see from a 22 year old rookie. Kid is going to be a stud. So your'e not getting PCA or Matt Shaw. Cubs are wanting to build around those guys. Trades might start with top of the farm guys like Cade Horton and Owen Cassie. Curious what you'd be targetting?

If the Astros are going to compete at a high level going forward, they're going to have to find a way to replenish their farm system with top-level prospects. That means not letting cornerstone players walk as free agents with no return. It needs to become almost like a standard formula that the Astros trade their top homegrown players with two years remaining on their contracts to get high-value prospects in return. That is, of course, unless they agree to a favorable (read: reasonable) contract for the team in terms of money and duration of the contract. Also, stop signing old or unproven veterans to high-dollar contracts; they're too risky.
If your not going to resign tucker you have to move him. Crain ain't doing it for 400 million. He must be traded. If you don't when you tucker the rebuild will last longer. You don't worry about who you trade him to. You get the best package.
Latin Players are more loyal compared to American Players. Signing Venezuelan, Dominican players as 16 -19 yrs old. Raising them from Domincan Republic Academy. English Classes.

We still might contend in a weak division even without him, but if Seattle ever wakes up and trades a starter for some offense, or if the Rangers can solve their starter issues...we might be toast anyway. Gonna be a few challenging years ahead, that's for sure.
