    • Flow: 4,000 Miles Down...
The final leg of adventurer and photographer Dirk Rohrbach’s journey leads him first to Baton Rouge, the capital of Louisiana. Here, the river changes its character once again. Gigantic tankers and ocean-going freighters make the passage a real challenge. The banks are lined with refineries and chemical plants, and the area is notoriously known as "Cancer Alley." Yet, the river still captivates with its remote side channels and sandy coves.
The lower Mississippi is now bordered by grand plantations from the slavery era. Dirk accompanies a Creole farmer out to his fields, where he no longer grows sugarcane but soybeans instead. Thanks to the river, the banks of the Mississippi are among the most fertile agricultural areas in the world.
In New Orleans, Dirk meets Voodoo priestess Sally Ann Glassman, who offers fascinating insights into a culture deeply intertwined with the city. Artist Shaka Zulu takes Dirk to the birthplace of jazz. After four months and more than 6,000 kilometers on the river, Dirk finally becomes the first European to paddle from the Missouri to the Gulf of Mexico, looking back on an unforgettable adventure.

Wow now that was an adventure! Learned something new at every stop along the way. Every stop was beautiful in its own unique way. What I learned from this is that we are all differently the same. We all honor our those who came before us, we all learned from the past, we all want to protect and preserve what’s good in our present, and we all want our children to continue what the roots of our family tree have provided and created for generations to enjoy. We are all human we might have differences but all share what really matters and that’s the ability to love. Thank you for sharing some of mother earth beautiful nature and some of its awesome residents !

First of all, thank you from the bottom of my soul, I was born in Jefferson City, Missouri. the state capital. Five blocks from the river, so many grand adventures and dre ams born on the banks of the river. So glad you stopped in Herman Mo. , my German Great Uncle, was the Catholic priest there when I was growing up, we went to Maifest, each spring and sampled Stone Hill and always bought some, but strictly for medicinal purposes. The river is absolutely always changing, but it teaches you great lessons for life! If you have never seen film of the flood of 1993, Google satellite images. Water is the most powerful of elements, like Bruce Lee said, water can flow, or it can crash,be water my friend!

It's called a push boat not a tugboat. Ask anyone on the river.
