you just cut some mid and treble and the NG models just sounds like a standard active bass with humbuckers. Exept with the best B and C string, of course.
I think Dingwall kinda gets painted with the same brush as Schecter does I.E. people just think of them as a metal only instrument. Just as this video shows though Dingwall (not in this video, but Schecter as well) are very versatile instruments. Great tone and playing, man. Well done.
Nice review. Although I am not a Dingwall fan I have heard they are made very well. Have a couple of friends that own custom made ones. I will say that they have told me they prefer the Ibanez BTB 806 /805MS for various reasons. Like I said not a fan they all have that tin can sound.

Dingwalls are expensive for a few reasons, people don't think about - They arent a huge company! ALL the parts are premium, Canadian hardwood, Dingwall(Nordstrand) pickups, Quickshot hardware. Darkglass preamp. Neutrik Jack. Expensive manufacturing - 5 piece maple neck with carbon rods. Assymetric neck profile, fan frets.
@craigmoran893 the pickup aren't Nordstrand. They are in house made or made in Korea. The Nordwall pickup are made by Nordstrand for 34" scale length. Ibanez are great bass but there are things that I don't like at all on their multiscale design

Like he said a workhorse, ive had one for years. I dont know why everyone likes the ultra mid sound - but scoop some mid and the NGs sound beautiful
the Quality on those Ibanez is various from the 2-3 I have seen. Not a bad instrument but quality isn't far away even from a non custom Dingwall
