On "My Car Story" we're at the Rosemont IL on 3-1-23 at the World of Wheels car show.
We're looking at a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible in Tuxedo Black Paint. The car is equipped with a 283 CI V8 engine, with a automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is Orlando Williams. Orlando’s had this car since 2020. Orlando shares he remembers back in school when the book fair would feature books and car posters, and he remembers seeing a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air and hoped one day he’d have one. Well here it is as he stayed focused and finally bought one. This car is a American Icon in Design for the 1950’s.

Thank you Lou for showcasing another iconic car. The 57 Chevy has always been my all time favorite car as far back as I can remember. One of my favorite things growing up on the 1960s was going with my parents to the Long Island malls and beaches just so I could walk around the parking lots and look for 57 Chevies. Time went by too quickly and I never got to own one, but I still get to enjoy them at the local auto shows and on TH-cam. Thank you Lou for all you do keeping the memories alive.

That is a Chevrolet icon! The last of the "Shoebox" Chevys. The 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air had true class. I'm surprised that the convertible top wasn't red to match the interior rather than a white top. Smooth running 283, with a 2-speed slush box automatic transmission behind it. that Tuxedo Black with the red interior really sets it off! Beautiful car Lou!

      Adjective
      1. relating to or of the nature of an icon; regarded as a representative symbol or as worthy of veneration.
"she became an iconic figure for directors around the world"

¡Saludos cordiales, Lou!

great example of a great antique car with a classy black paint job always admired the Bel Air though never knew anyone who owned one though I've known people that owned other Chevy models I.E. Caprice S-10 Blazer SUV or either rented them on trips or used them for work purposes my late maternal grandmother drove me to school growing up first in a used 88-90 Gen 3 Caprice Classic sedan then later it was a re launch 1997 Chevrolet Malibu which she had a better time driving cause its similar in size and features to her Toyota Camry granted when she was loaned the Caprice she hadn't driven a big 8 cylinder car for several years her last V8 powered car had been a used 1981 Cadillac Coupe Deville and she had traded that for 4 Cylinder Buick Skylark Limited 4 door sedan because she was tired of having the Cadillac tampered with/stolen though the Skylark got tampered with/stolen its fair share of times and she eventually traded it in for a 1990 Toyota Camry DL

That is a nice looking 1957 Chevrolet Convertible. The 1957 Chevrolet was the last year of the amazing tri-five Chevrolets and the best looking. We will never see automobiles like this again that have lots of chrome and where the manufacturer made many styling changes from one model year to the next model year. Also the 1957 Chevrolet model year had some firsts. One new thing available for 1957 was the larger 283 cubic inch version of the small block V-8 engine. Also available as an option for the 283 cubic inch small block V-8 was the Rochester Fuel Injection system which gave one horsepower per cubic inch. Also one more automatic transmission called the Turboglide transmission was available in 1957. Many years ago I had an uncle who had a 1960 Chevrolet station wagon with the Turboglide transmission. The main characteristic of this transmission is that the car could be smoothly accelerated from a stop to street or highway speed with no detectable gear shifts. This was like a continuously variable transmission.

Imo....1957 was likely the greatest year, style-wise, for American cars...The Big Three--and even AMC--offered very forward-looking style, as well as increasing performance, due to the growing proliferation of V8 engines...and those fins were considered very "cutting edge" for those days. In 1957, Chrylser even had the nerve, to comment on their new designs--"Suddenly, it is 1960!"..Optimism reigned, in a nationalistic way...the space Race was on, and as a 10yo, I was sure that Americans would be colonizing Mars, by 1980!

I love 1957 Chevrolets! I'm not a big fan of the spats on the rear tires though. I just don't think they look good on this car. And, for some reason, Orlando being such a big guy, makes the car look smaller than it is. No offense, Orlando... He looks so happy and proud when talking about and getting into his car. Love that apsect. As usual, because of your wonderful detail. I did not know that there were vents around the headlights. I assumed they were pained! Another great video! Thumbs UP!

Hi Enrique, He just bought this car so I'm not aware of it being for sale. Thanks for the "big hug", Lou

Nice car, but it’s a shame it’s not equipped with PS and PB.

Nice, but unattainable by the average Joe. Would easily sell for 6 figures.

Orlando's '57 Bel-Air convertible IS gorgeous as much for what it does not have, as much as for what it does. NO awful bumper guards on the front grill or in the rear, ruining the looks, NO goofy fender mirrors making it look foolish. Although I don't care for the fender skirts on these cars, 2 out of 3 ain't bad especially since most now are bogged down with this garbage that yes, were/are 'legitimate options'. It doesn't mean they look good.
