    I'm nearing 80 years old, and I've lived thru decades of genious humorists. Out of all those humorists, I think Steven Wright is the funniest comedian of them all. His manipulation of the English language is pure genious. Thanks Steve, you made my life easier.

      Mitch hedberg, George Carlin, and Steven Wright

    • @rudolphguarnacci197
      @rudolphguarnacci197 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hedberg didn't live long enough to be judged like that. It's like needing a minimum of at-bats to be considered for a hitting title. Just because someone got two hits in four at-bats doesn't make him a lifetime .500 hitter. Nothing against Mitch; he kills every time.

    In the late 90's I came across Steven's one hour comedy special from 1985 in Boston, the one that begins with him in a shack in the desert. Over time I copied down all the jokes. I got to practice them at the airport. One airline (at least) let me sit on the ticket counter, the one by the onboard line, and tell the jokes. Then they let me sit by the cockpit with the mike (again), and tell some more.
    Then one day in 2002 I'm relaxing on the couch after my Bikram yoga class, and I tell my teacher some Steven jokes. After every one i tell, he tells me one! This went on for as long as it went on. Which was a while.
    Fast forward to today. Either he's gotten better or I've gotten older. I think it's both. So glad to have found him. This is Pulitzer gold!!

    Astronomers say the universe is constantly expanding. I think it's always been the same size, but everything in it is gradually shrinking.

    • @tom23rd
      @tom23rd 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I asked Janna Levin once how they were so sure it was expanding and no one mentions that maybe matter is shrinking. "We can't know but the net effect is the same so it doesn't really matter" but that's *why* it matters. "Take our word for it but really we actually know" lol. Glad someone who also likes Steven Wright also thought of this.

    • @davidcrandall3643
      @davidcrandall3643 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tom23rd If we are shrinking, maybe it's because our mass is gradually being lost by being converted to gravity waves. We don't think we're shrinking, because our world is shrinking with us and therefore appears to be the same size. Ultimately, it's all relative, as Einstein might say.

    • @fulsame1
      @fulsame1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidcrandall3643 except thats totally wrong as mass os directly proportional to gravity. If mass were being converted to energy, a process known as annihilation, we would certainly notice as the energy within the universe would be increasing by a substantial amount. The earth and sun's gravitational attraction would lessen over time and eventually the entire planet would be hurled into space. Fortunately, annihilation is a rare event. The expansion of the universe is not the enbiggening of the objects within it, it is the space between that matter increasing.

    The King of one-liners, old-timers, dinin' club cardholders, soldiering on, way out there and far beyond, absconding to get respondent, and tolerant of despondent little fishes, in big ponds...silly maggots, Schlitz is for STIFF PRICKS... But Indian midgets they'll accompany you on a trip so fit for a magic carpet ridin' alongside the yellow brick road, deep into a bender that'll up-ender until you surrender, there, Partner...yup, a night to never remember, though occasionally from time to time it will certainly force IT upon you, painfully, as when you least expect it, that is when will pop up one hell of a reminder, kinder, gentler...despite, how you pined after her, it might finally be time to untie her, there, Stephen Wright, King of ye ole One-Liner!

    am viewing this, should say listening to this, no video on TH-cam May 1st of 2022, and most of the audio sounds like I'm listening on a tinny, mono, am radio running on a 9 volt battery in the early 80's/late 70's. it's rare to get such bad audio on this phone with this app.
    also, half of the transcript is written like it's printed by a machine who can't deal with accents 😂
    it actually printed "this chick Sharon" as "saima grilling shim shim" and misprinted the words to the song he sang at three, making his lyrics " the kid is trying to kill me", and calling out for it saying, "you're kidding, here kidding, here kidding."
    insane misprints that make this show even more hilarious than Stephen is already if that is even possible!
