When you think about it the rider is vulnerable as hell on that motorcycle & never anywhere does it say that Jessie's suit is bullet proof .. Jessie was constantly getting shot at with machine guns and had no concern about it . Man those bad guys must have been blind as hell or have really horrible aim .. Either that or Street Hawk has a circle of angles protecting him always ...Ha Ha & Hyperthrust was used in the show to boost the bikes speed from fast to ridiculous break neck speeds on public high ways that was more then fake but flat out impossible in real life .. If that wasn't bad enough the word Hyperthrust has another meaning that I won't discuss . . This show was top cheese in the 80's and even worse today but I still watch it for nostalgia and still kind of enjoy parts of it . The cast was perfect for the parts . Norman & Jessie made a good team , and they were comical together . They could never choose different actors to do a remake and make it half as enjoyable .. The main actors the theme song & the styling of the bike really helped keep interest while watching it as a kid . If they ever did a remake I have no doubt in my mind I would watch it but only if they keep the same cast, bike, and theme song .
Yes it does seem miraculous he doesn't get shot in the back or chest several times. Considering how Batman's armour is sort of evolved from Motorcycle protection and navy Seals diving suits I'd guess a modern version of this show the lead would have some sort of protection in case he got knocked off or shot at. But even ducking would help so long as the bike's tires are seld sealing - they'd need to be as you wouldn't want to be going 300 MPh with normal air filled tires - i'd guess they are pumped up with Nitrogen. As for the traffic issues and Hyper thrust control the show's pilot seems to claim Norman has control over the traffic management system int he LA area and he can shift all the cross lights to red to Give Mach a free path - that is one of the reasons there is a slight delay before he's cleared for Hyperthrust as the computer is finding a clear path and changing the lights for him. Norman's genius was pretty multi-faceted in terms of Computer programming and mechanical and electronic engineering and even in propulsion. It's it's own way Street Hawk & it's control systems are nearly as much of a (fictionally at least) achievement as KITT or Airwolf. It's a vehicle than can jump 3 stories straight up project energy weapons in multiple modes, fire medium Calliber Machine guns, & Micro-rockets, stop with it's airbreak in a very short distance, and with computer assisted Hyper-Thrust travel at 300 MPH on a public highway. in addition it's also high resilient to bullets and other damage. has multiple surveillance systems built into the helmet and the bike and links to the control centre by audio or video link as well as a form of positional tracking of some sort (possibly an early GPS). It also has adaptive suspension - and I think it even had retractable tire studs too. I would also infer that it had the ability to use the jump jets in conjunction with Hyper thrust to leap and idiotic distance if the show had lasted long enough to show it as the Hyper-thrust would provide the horizontal post with the jump jets a vertical for him to be able to jump a pretty silly distance I suspect. I also like how in bright sunshine you can see the bike is actually dark blue not Black - kinda like how Airwolf is really dark Grey.

Damien Rocks Actually, there were at least four deaths in the show: the drug lord from the pilot episode, Jesse's friend, Kevin Stark from "Second Self", the hitman who was caught when the building was demolished in "The Adjuster", and the light aircraft pilot from "Fire On The Wing".
It's kind of a hoot to see this show after all these years. All the legwork the guys did back then can easily be done on a computer now! In fact, the show did predict a few things that we saw demonstrated in the show like GPS, a form of Google Maps (when Jesse does a 360 in the air for Norman to put on a computer grid to gauge a location), the internet (I fell over when Norman says in one scene how it would be easier to sort out all the magazine articles if they were scanned into a computer), GoPro style camera work being ed back to a hard drive at a remote location, and modem dial up (even though that fell by the wayside eventually), and being able to control traffic lights with a computer (the Hyperthrust procedure to make traffic conditions favorable). Plus, much of what Norman does from Command Center is similar to what Penelope Garcia does on "Criminal Minds". I had thought about how vulnerable Jesse was when he was being shot at. I don't know I'm not exactly by any means a comic book nerd at this age or mine. But I somehow became a fan of or viewer of these two silly series called The Flash, and the arrow. And as you stated I majority of what that Norman Tuttle did in his Command Center. Reminds me a lot of what the gorgeous blond on the Arrow they call her Felicity exactly what she does in fact they give her the code name OverWatch.
