NICE and thanks for posting this. I use the Anytone CPS software for my AT-878 & AT-578. Software has a learning curve but once you figure it out, so much easier to program the radio. How much of a learning curve with Chirp?
Bridgecom has excellent videos on using software to program the radio. I put in all my repeaters this way and going forward, I can make changes. First Goal - load FM (analog) 3 local Repeaters and test system. Second Goal - Load 3 local DMR Repeaters and test system. Then you can load more.
Most Repeaters have temporary battery backup. How long will they stay up? Depends on what they are connected to. Some will only last 24 hours before someone has to haul a generator and fuel to keep it working. Others may be connected to tower (like Verizon or on a building) that has diesel generators. They will run longer. Most will cut back their transmitter / server rack repeater power to run longer so they will reduce the wattage output. I hope this helps!
@@hamradiomadesimple that helps. Thank you for your informative videos. You do a great job. You’ve help bring light to some questions i was confused about. Keep up the great info and videos.
@@hamradiomadesimple Thanks. Taking first level test this weekend at field day. Hope to get a try at the genera level, also. Your videos have been a great help. When I get my call sign and radio I hope to talk with you. Have a great day, Daniel
As someone who is looking to become a HAM, I really appreciate the care and attention to detail in your videos. Just became a new sub too.
I appreciate those kind words. I did this so others won't have to go through the long learning curve I've had to. Enjoy and pass this on to others.
Very well presented.
Thank you kindly!
In Chirp, you can download data without bothering with a login.

Does a dmr still work if there is a complete power outage in the area?

Mac user here. I bought Parallels for Mac so I can run Windows software (at least on the x86 based Mac). Works well.
