I've heard a lot of good things about that album! I'm definitely going to add it to my list!
Since this guide, there has been so much more work they have released. This is a group that never rests. Onew has several other albums, both in Korean and Japanese ("Dice", "Circle", "Life Goes On") and he did a concert tour in Japan. Key has also released three more albums, ("Bad Love", "Gasoline", and "Killer") that I really love due to their style which is darker like Taemin's, as well as concerts. Minho released "Heart Break" and "Chase" while also doing several dramas.
Taemin of course was in the military while all this was going on, BUT before leaving for the military, he was one busy bee and many of us were worried he would collapse under the pressure of everything he was doing between his commitments to SHINee (MVs, 2 albums & online concert, promotional work), SuperM (1 album, MVs and promotional work), and his own solo work (2 albums, MVs, online concert, promotional work). Taemin is a self-admitted workaholic and perfectionist. Two weeks before his enlistment he dropped another amazing album that produced a title track with a choreo that is still the fastest choreo in SM to date, "Advice".
As you may have gathered, Taemin is my ultimate bias, although I love all the SHINee boys. I adore his voice, his tenaciousness in getting to where he is today despite being told by a voice coach that he would never be a singer, and his dedication to his art. Like his brothers, he has a very unique voice and he chose to emphasize that to create his unique sound. He will actually use his voice to "play" with the music by emphasizing certain words in songs to produce emotion and definition that enriches the meaning of the hidden messages contained in his music. My latest favorite song is his "Impressionable". Like "Impressionable", much of his music is dark, sensual, and also conveys complex concepts such as Stockholm syndrome and Plato's Theory of Forms which he bends into relaying messages of his Christian faith or his innermost thoughts. Key also produces music similar to Taemin's which is why he is my second bias. I like the other members' music and regularly purchase their albums to support them as well, but my personal taste runs alongside Taemin's and Key's discography.
SM picked up Taemin for his dancing abilities alone. He is a self-taught dancer who started at the age of 9/10 teaching himself by watching his idols (MJ, Usher, Rain, etc.) and copying their moves in his mirror. By 2008, he debuted as the main dancer of SHINee. However, it's in his solo work where he really shows that he is the best dancer in Kpop. I've never seen anyone move the way he does. It's flawless, smooth like liquid gold, and powerful at the same time. Rather than being constrained to one dancing discipline through formal training and therefore stuck within those confines, he freely moves seamlessly through all of them, combining disciplines into his choreos.

The entire 2020 NGDA albums (and I believe probably "Advice" mini-album) were Taemin's project. He co-produced and co-composed the entire thing, even picking the production company for the project, which was unheard of in an industry that usually assigns producers to the artist prior to this.
I hope you will take the opportunity to delve more deeply into their music. With 15 years in the business, they have a VAST discography of all different genres, mixing genres together, and even coming up with new genres to explore. Plus, they are the most loveable, chaotic, affectionate group you will ever find. Seriously, they have been together for 18 years counting trainee days. Their brotherhood is legendary within the industry, and that family dynamic extends to SHAWOLs as well. We are constantly reminded by them of how much they love us. ENJOY!
I am definitely going to check out some more of their music! I only post once a week because of my day to day job as a music instructor, so I will definitely try to come up with a schedule to react to their music! Honestly as a newer vocal coach (2.5 years) I can't believe that someone told Taemin that he wouldn't be a singer! The only issue he might have had is his breathing and his placement (maybe even vowel formation) which can be fixed! @@CiCiRenaeMusic There were actually two main issues why Taemin struggled at first as a singer. 1) He was only 14 at the time and had immature vocal cords that the company wanted to protect, so they delayed his vocal coaching. When he did sing, he was often off-key, which could have been because of that issue. 2) Taemin has a very strong, natural vibrato. It's so strong, that he had to learn to control it and allow it to shine in the appropriate sections. You can listen to his early career and compare it to his later work. However, you can clearly realize (if you're not a delusional anti-fan) that Taemin has become one of the most beautiful and unique soloists in Kpop. Tiny more bits too, Mihno is soooo good with a lot of sports. Like a lot!
And Onew’s voice singing Nessun Dorma, he uses that tone usually in musicals. He does musicals too, and his voice gets on the operatic side. That pwrformance of Onew in white, that was his first live performance solo after his throat surgery.

This is an older guide, Miho got a Solo Album now, and several singles. And since this guide, each SHINee members’ Solo discography has also increased. Like they be releasing group and solo albums, doing group and solo concerts one after another, both Japanese and Korean.

Taemin was so young when SHINee debuted, his voice was still changing.. that’s why he barely had lines.
Taemin is the best dancer in kpop and is transcending the genre.
MInho has debuted solo. Not at the time of the video you are watching, though.

Check out key on the variety shows I live alone and amazing Saturday. There is no choreography he doesn't know. Minho debuted solo with the album chase. He writes all the tap for shinee an key helps too. He is a hell of a k drama actor like derailed, hwarang humid cell 1&2 an many others.
With regards Taemin. He's a self taught dancer though he sought professional lessons later on he was taught to sing by Onew and Jonghyun before seeking professional lessons later on. Signed with sm entertainment age of 11 debuted age 14 . He's also Catholic and has been playing the piano since age 11.

All shinee members sing live they NEVER lipsync. ( because they're shit at it. It's the only thing they will not do) they are what new and old idols aspire to be and look up to. That's just how good they are. Hahaha. If it going to do shinee do their entire discography and solo work.
