Cut a sunroof into the ceiling so that in the summertime you an add an extension to that massive shifter and have one that sticks clear up out the roof. Maybe put an American flag or something on it to whip in the wind.

I grew up in Upstate NY...did some trucking there before I came to MN and I was always told...NY height signs are a foot under actual, because they factor in Snow/Ice/Road Repaving...etc....Always throws out of state truckers off unless you've either been under it before safely, or you've heard through the grapevine. It's always been kinda silly if you ask me. Just post actual and take the guessing game out.

As a former trucker who did a LOT of NYC, Boston, Phil as well as Montreal, you have to know that your Peterbilt is NOT set up for city driving. Not only is that wheelbase about 6' too long, but you really need to sit up higher and have overhead vision through your windshield in city driving. In fact, I do believe that your overall length was oversize for NY and PA.
FWIW, I did most of my trucking in a C/O with a sleeper. I could get a 53'er into just about any spot with that setup.

I couldn't quite tell if there was space when you had the hood up, but make sure your air cleaner cross over pipes are not rubbing the top rear edge of the valve cover and that they aren't getting cut by the sheet metal going out to the air cleaners. It was fairly common on those to rub through and start sucking dirt.

Cool video. I go to the Bronx all the time. The signs for the bridges are a foot lower than what they say in New York. They Measure from the center of the hub up. So if a bridge says 12 six it’s really 13 six. If you look in the rand McNally it explains it in the back part of the book with all the DOT regulations

Been off the road for a long time but used to run Chicago nearly every week after teaming to west coast every week. The yard was in S.E. Iowa always finished one man to Milwaukee, Chicago and points east. I remember being forced to give a man a ride about half way to Trenton from Elizabeth because he thought I was lost and insisted on helping me get to the interstate. I had been warned that there was a scam being done to drivers by helping them get out to the interstate but was directing them down dead end roads and then blocking them in the truck while they stole the load off the trailer. Always something new going on. Oh, I forgot to mention he was on the running board of the tractor all that way.lol

The bridges in New York factor in a safety buffer of 1 foot. So if it says 12’8” is actually 13’8”. It wigs truckers out in that aren’t aware of this.

We’re from Wisconsin there don’tcha know. Nice looking truck but the cab looks tight. I need room to stand and stretch without getting out into the winter storms sometimes. Nice video

Idk what the dude was talking about with the ice and snow comment, but I drive everyday in the city with a 48ft. The reason for the low signs are because they measure from the axels not the ground. So if you see 12”8 it’s really
13”7 . Definitely nerve racking situation for someone who’s not used to the city. Good job!

I white knuckle it through big cities in any vehicle. Driving a semi through a major city would be one of my biggest nightmares.

If you have ez pass the toll for the GW is actually $95 or if you come in between 9pm-5am on the weekdays it’s $82.50. Just FYI if you decide to go to NYC or north of that much.

here in nyc most are marked about a foot less than what they are, some because of the snow and ice and others because they mark them from the sidewalk/curb up.

Wow I was watching this video were you went into the city by huntspoint and as you crossed the George Washington Bridge and you stated that it cost you like 125.00 to cross and I couldn't believe it. Because I used to run in there at least 2 times a week out of Florida and it cost me 1.25 cents it was a quarter an axle back in the early seventies thru into 1980,s. Well be safe drive careful.
