I’m in this. I played snare drum in Rhythm X 2009 and 2010. Thanks for making this video. Brings back a lot of memories, and it’s cool to see your take on it. Shoutout to everyone who had a hand in designing this show, particularly Tim Fairbanks, Tim Jackson, and Andrew Markworth. Without them the members of Rhythm X would never have had the opportunity to perform in such a well-designed, emotional, and fun show.
I was on the design team for this show.: let’s do a side by side stream of what you see in the show and what we intended.. it’s one of my favorite Rhythm X shows and I’d love to let everyone in on all of the ‘details in the fabric’
I'd actually recommend not linking with this guy. He's secretly an asshole. He'll probably act really nice to you, but all this guy does is teach with fear. He's gonna deny it, but he knows what I'm talking about. In fact, there were many members of this ensemble that weren't welcome back the next year because they were assholes. Probably because Tim started rubbing off on the members. 😁
I was in this show, and I just wanted to say thank you for this reaction video. It was wonderful to relive this show with an outsider’s perspective. For another WGI reaction, I’d offer up RCC’s show from 2013: State of the Arts. It’s electric and comments on the state of education in America-fun and thought-provoking!
The idea behind the show is just all kinds of touch, physical touching done by all of the performers on their drums, to each other, to themselves. Just as well are the quieter moments performed impeccably because there is a very specific kind of "touch" required to play in this kind of group quietly. The moment right about 4 minutes into the show where the snare drums turn around and play very quietly is incredibly difficult to do to a high level.
I’m in this video (marimba on the right with the stupid hair lol) and I love that this show is your introduction to WGI! This was a very special performance with an incredible group of people. Thanks for taking the time and exploring something you’ve never seen! 😄
She watched pulse 17 prior but I’d say this was definitely her wgi awakening. Thank you for such an amazing show Peter! It must have been absolutely wild to perform this finals night, as an open class boy I can only imagine the rush
Your reaction to the John Chapman video is how most of us react to that video. It is amazing that people like him actually exist and will give up their lives to save others.
My brother does the composition and choreography for a high school drum line in Columbus. I’m going to be that person that brags that he also won a few state championships 😁. It’s crazy difficult. The marimba is usually played using four mallets. Drummers carry heavy drums on their shoulders while doing fast stick work and choreography.
Those of you who are referring to the judge freak out...that’s Mike McIntosh. I would say go watch Cavies 2011 drumline and see his writing skills at 100%
I know the videos are super old and like in 144p, but I would love to see your reactions to the Blast! performances, especially Malaguena , if you search it up on TH-cam it's there.
@@drumlord8772 lol I went to their Broadway tour 2 times in 2000 (edited after a little more research). I was already following DCI after marching snare up until my senior year (2000) in high school. The first time I ever saw them was live at Epcot for their stent there preparing for the American Broadway tour later that year.
@@jh28wd40 I got to see them live in high school...probably about 2005. So it was version...3 or 4. But still amazing to see live. I even marched with a girl that was in Blast! Tokyo for a few years.
Definitely not "stupid," Courtney. Such styles of performing-arts are _abstract_ and somewhat left up for interpretation. I'm sure the designers had a well-formed storyline they crafted from, but--like a minimalist ballet performance--such voiceless, instrumental, minimalist art-performances can only offer so much complex detail. The general essences of _"touch"_ is there, and that's what the show _is,_ an interpretation of the _"feeling_ of touch," an opportunity as an audience member to simply meditate of idea on connection, in _all_ its forms, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual.
Great show, I march with rhythm x winds, defiantly should check us out for wgi winds, love what you are doing to show the activity to more people. I reccomend x winds 2019.
Hi Courtney! I just found your channel today and have watched several videos. I looked at your video playlist and I didn't see any reactions to music videos. If you react to Marcelito Pomoy's cover of "the Prayer" by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli on Wish 107.5, that reaction will go to the top of your most watched videos within a year. You will get 1 million views or more. If you react to Morissette Amon's covers of Rise Up, Never Enough, Secret Love Song, and Akin Ka Na Lang, she will get you well over a million views combined. She is also on Wish 107.5. They are both from the Philippines. I love Akin Ka Na Lang. You can also react to Marcelito Pomoy on America's Got Talent. Do not watch other reactions of Marcelito Pomoy. The Prayer needs to be the first time you watch him. He will blow your mind. So will Morissette. I am not kidding when I tell you he will get you a million views. He is at the top of almost every reactors videos. I hope you take this advice, It will make you quite a bit of money in ad revenue. Then you can come to Texas and watch the world famous Texas Aggie Marching Band. Cheers!
I wanna say I heard something from the aged out podcast, since their both x alumni and they frequently have x alumni on to talk and some of them have been from this year. But I can’t be any sort of certain.
This show inspired a lot of people to join this group. It's an amazing show. You should do a follow up video on the show that followed this year. www.dailymotion.com/video/x1a4u0p
Not related to the video, but you should totally react to the Ravens vs Browns week 14 game that was just played... might have been one of the best NFL games I’ve ever seen.
Love these reactions! I recommend two: 1. RCC 2018 [Listen]; just a really really solid WGI show (my instructor is the trumpet player btw) 2. Blue Devils 2015 [INK]; a little underrated i think but one of my favorite shows of all time. Also has some of my instructors, which is cool to see.
Not completely. He has Macular degeneration. Which means he can see figures and shapes, but not as clearly. Legally he's still considered blind though.

And we could maybe get @mikemcintosh to contribute since his judge’s tape is viral
Tim, I’m counting this show as your Christmas present to me, and it’s from 11 years ago. It’s THAT good.
I'd actually recommend not linking with this guy. He's secretly an asshole. He'll probably act really nice to you, but all this guy does is teach with fear. I so hope this happens. Tim and Mac know talking about this show would be a treat!
👏 yes!

And 08 BD. Also Spirit of Atlanta at some point before Cadets.
I THOUGHT that was him.
