Well deserved and several years due. If you’re a tennis fan, you’ve known of Sabalenka’s struggles with mental strength. Emotional stuff at the end. Congrats Sabalenka.. hope this is the breakthrough you needed!
I couldn't agree more. I wouldn't say that I'm a huge Sabalenka fan, but following her struggles and always coming up short, I felt drawn to root for her. Mental hurdles are the worst, and I'm proud she committed to doing the work, and she benefitted greatly.

The athleticism and flexibility that Rybakina shows at 6:35 is insane, given how tall she is. Even though she lost the point, that was impressive to pick that ball up and recover her balance
@@nickcoller1962 No she wasnt. Sabalenka had way more winners (51 vs 32) about the same UFE (S - 28; R - 24), more aces (17 vs 7); served better, won more % of second serves and the same % first serves. So tell me how was Elena better.

Was rooting for Elena. Really wanted her to solidify her presence at the top with a second grand slam win. Very happy for Aryna though, both of these women layed their hearts on the court. I hope this is the first meeting of many finals to come for them.

Not a huge fan of Sabalenka’s but she fought hard for this. Great win for her. Looking forward to seeing more from Rybakina in other tournaments other than Grand Slams.
Sabalenka was just an absolute beast out there. She was hammering that ball. The relentless aggression has to be exhausting to go up against, but Rybakina really held her own. So many deuce games, a couple of points could've made it a different story. Really great battle, very fun to watch.
Rybakina didn't serve as well as she has till the quarterfinals. I think the pressure of a packed box with even Kazakh authorities played a little role unlike Wimbledon that she went under the radar. Hopefully she'll learn from this and will be ready for the next one.

I have grown to love Sabalenka. She used to be a sore loser. However, she has improved both her game as well as her sportsmanship in the past 1-2 years. Now she is a true champion. Big congrats to her!
Wow. These two women were just crushing the ball. The women's game is on a whole new level...again. I still remember Aryna's first final (I think) in 2017 against Sharapova. Sharapova just barely won that match, but I remember thinking that Sabalenka was going to be an amazing player in a few years. I do feel Rybakina went away a little bit in this match for some reason but these two really could be a great rivalry for the next few years.
I am a fan of both girls but Elena had a wayy tougher road to the final and I found myself rooting for her at the end. It was a tough match though, and I’m happy Saba could regain her confidence and finally get one.
Sabalenka's commitment to workout and improving her Mental strength and Overall focus and Confidence are what have Pushed her into the Championship 🏆 Tier 👏👏👏👏. She always had the Physicality and Determination. Now she's becoming the Complete Package 💯👍💜💜. Congrats to both ladies. This was an Awesome Match.
Her response to winning reminded me of when Dimitrov won the WTF--obviously it meant a great deal. Congrats to her--and to Rybakina--on a good tournament.
Good to see Sabalenka win A GS at last. I have a feeling we are going to see a few more finals between these two players. Both of them have the power game to win many more tournaments.
Great final! Two of the best hard serving and hitting players. It came to who wanted it more and it was Aryna. She put all her strength together. Bravo! Elena is a great champion too. Give her some time and she will win many Slams.
This is so well earned. No one deserves this more than Aryna because no one works harder or plays with more heart and passion than her. So gratifying to see her fought off her demons and crossed the finish line. She was always the most talented player to have never won a slam due to her nerves. Her mental fortitude on those pressure points were amazing, and her beautiful all-round game esp. the inside-out FH and overhead shots are a thing of beauty. Unlike a lot of WTA players, Aryna never misses those easy put-away shots. She has made me a fan for life!
One of the best women’s matches ever!! Those who were there un person were so fortunate!! Congrats to Sablenka!! I ❤❤❤❤ her!!! She has improved so much !!!

@@samueljang1902 Exactly. Now that Sabalenka has the added pressure of being a slam winner, she's probably going to struggle and fall apart just like all the other first time grand slam winners in the WTA have been doing in recent years.

Stats: Sabalenka: 20 more winners than Rybakina 8 more aces 6% better first serve % (65% to 59%) 6 more double faults 3 more unforced errors 7 more total points won: 110 to Rybakina's 103; Break points converted: 3 of 13 vs 2of 7 Rybakina CONCLUSION: BEING super aggressive, 51 winners- 28 unforced errors to Rybakina's 31 winners-25 unforced errors, put Sabalenka over the top, but match coulda gone either way. (I was rootin' Rybakina 😌)
Sabalenka is a playmaker. She dictates the match most of the time which makes her so exciting to watch. Rybakina is boring. All she does is serve. Most of the points she won came from her big serves and Saba's UEs. Her ground strokes are incredibly shaky, while Saba is rock solid on all fronts. When Sabalenka was able to return her serves, she won only 20% of those points!! Thank God the more talented player won.
@@kittygalore87 Sabalenka only had 7 more total points won, yet she had TWENTY MORE WINNERS. She's a ball basher!!I I always root for the lady in the match, one that I'm drawn to.😳
Rybakina stopped being agressive in the 2nd and 3rd, relying too much on her first strike, either serve or return, her second strike was always too soft in those sets, that cost her the match. in the first she was hitting through all the balls that came to her side, that's how she should have played. but Aryna's serve was over 70% in the last 2 sets, which caused lots of problems also...well the one who stayed brave longer won
@@KanatLS Victory to the brave! Elena will study the tapes and learn to avoid feeding Aryna balls she can hit winners on (51!), and the next time outcome will be different. Maybe copy Navratilova's pusher, paceless deep backhand slice against Graf, which makes hitting winners much harder.
@@studfinderball So when Rybakina was the one hitting more winners against weaker players, do you then root for those players because they are the "ladies"? Because she's been the aggressor in pretty much all her matches until this match when she finally met someone who hit with equal or more power. Seems to me she got what she deserved - a taste of her own medicine.
Arnya has shown consistent improvement and persistence by reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon, US Open (2 times) and finals at the Tour finals. So she deserves to win a Slam. Caroline Garcia is another such player. Other players who win a Slam without demonstrating consistency over a long period (example, Emma, but there are others) do not realize how hard it is to win one. Thats why there are many "one time wonders" on WTA.

ugh and a half. love you, elena.
Stats: Sabalenka:
20 more winners than Rybakina
8 more aces
6% better first serve % (65% to 59%)
6 more double faults
3 more unforced errors
7 more total points won: 110 to Rybakina's 103; Break points converted: 3 of 13 vs 2of 7 Rybakina
CONCLUSION: BEING super aggressive, 51 winners- 28 unforced errors to Rybakina's 31 winners-25 unforced errors, put Sabalenka over the top, but match coulda gone either way.
Watching this after break point 😢😢
Arnya has shown consistent improvement and persistence by reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon, US Open (2 times) and finals at the Tour finals. So she deserves to win a Slam. Caroline Garcia is another such player. Other players who win a Slam without demonstrating consistency over a long period (example, Emma, but there are others) do not realize how hard it is to win one. Thats why there are many "one time wonders" on WTA.
I want to thank the Open's video editing staff for not including the banal post-match interview with the winner.
Glad she won. She's so good.
