What I don’t understand is how there are plenty of people that have never heard of FLW! I know this because it comes up often enough that our home , built in 1948 on a River in IL is a “knock off” or at least a nod to FLW and plenty of people look at me blankly even when visiting if I mention that. Previous owner put a legitimate pitched roof on it, old flat roof is now the floor in an attic. Maybe they did us a favor.

I toured this building too. Wright did amazing awesome designs. I want a Wright Usonian home.

BTW: Cypress is also Water and Insect resistant.
Cypress was used in the Plantation Homes, particularly in the Delta, along the Mississippi River from Tennessee to and throughout Louisiana and the coastal areas throughout Dixie.
    Several remain.
Thanks again for this sweet share!

The Frank Lloyd Wright cypress houses are fantastic. It is hard to repair those houses though as cypress is now a protected species.

Got to spend many hours with Marjorie Leighey when she was still a life tenant there back in the late 60’s. She loved the place, especially in the late afternoon when the setting sun would seem to animate the house with all the clever window arrangements that FLW built into the design.

Thank you for sharing that. Light play is one of my favorite features of FLW buildings

There is a suspicious strange noise at 3:49... Is that the floor giving in?

6' high entry ceiling height does not meet code

It did when it was built. Wright didn't really concern himself with the needs of tall people very much. Thanks for watching Allen.

Wright has a lot of things that, to put it mildly, raise questions. All geniuses have their own garbage in their heads. On the other hand, if they were normal, they wouldn't be geniuses.😄

I’m 6’ 5” and 320. Frank would need to tweak his designs a little bit for me. Huge fan. Literally.

Thank you for watching. You would probably like his Louis Penfield House better than. It was designed for a tall person like yourself. Stay tuned for video th-cam.com/users/shortslDDDmxY-8bk

Probably in town near the grocery store.

Frank often couldn't be bothered with such mundane things. Lol.

Well, maybe not in this one, but I have seen laundry rooms in other Usonian designs. Maybe laundry rooms were once thought of as a luxury? I mean, there was a time when indoor bathrooms were taboo... "You mean you POOP inside your house? The dog doesn't even do THAT!"
