Bonjour, I have juste received my H73 and unfortunately, despite hours of tests, I haven't been able to start it. I have a spark and a little compression (I changed the O'ring), more or less similar to my other hit and miss Microcosm engines. Il will buy another gas (using Essence F and unleaded 98 currently) but fear it won't change anything... Could your give me as an indication how much you open the needle valve ? 1/4, 1/2... more ? If the engine starts then stops after a few seconds (that happends on my other engines) should I open or close it a little ? Thnk you in advance for your advice, everything you say in your videos is relevant because I experience the same things. Amicalement, Raphaël
Hmmmm. Considering all the problems I have, and had have with my M12, my H73 is a real gem. Not to say that it not will get your improvements, it will. My 73 sounds like your 75, pop, gurgle, sigh, rest, pop, gurgle, sigh, rest, etc. .................!
Hi Joe, I have no explanation for why this h73 was a turd from day one. Just looking at the oil in the crankcase after 5 minutes or less of (almost) running makes me think it fell into a shipping box and not the rework bin. I guess we can only wonder though. We aren't going to give up on it though. Like a bad penny I'm sure it will turn up again soon.
Hey do you think this can run for 2 hours at one time? and how about the H75? Can it run a few hours without blowing up? Not that i want you to try.. Its just that if i buy the h75, i want to use it for maybe a waterpump or something else ps: i love the combustion engine videos
We'll do a video on running the H73, we'll start with a full tank of fuel and set a timer to see what happens. And if it lasts until the fuel runs out we'll fill it up and keep going. As for the H75 I think it would be ok but I don't feel as the cooling system is up to the task of extended time under a load.
Hey thx Matt!!! Nice. Mmmm haven't got my H73 ignition replacement yet, ....I could think yours running doesn't look encouraging for mine; but we know I like the tweaking. Reminds me of the "SAM" model first run and look where I got that to. :) Finally got my Cison v2 parts and am working on that... "And We Have Ignition!!!" So not far to go there. Otherwise, have a Microcosm / Jin tractor and his new 45degree V-twin with tiny carby float on the way. Tried to make a vid with the beautiful Stirling but it needs gas and I can't find the propane pencil so that's on the "back burner", ha. ...Seems hard to get the views these days Matt :/ Hey Matt have you been getting these from Jin direct on ebay? Retail on enginediy/stirling $keep going up
Hi Mr. Thomas, I can't wait to see your video on the Cison twin. And you have the new twin on the way too? Lucky guy. I bought the H73 on eBay. As for fuel, rubbing alcohol will work in the stirling. It's good to hear from you again. Keep up the great work 👍

I pull E clips off inside a clear plastic bag. Learned that one the hard way pulling fishing reels down...
Hi Boat Beard, that is a GREAT idea! Thank you for the tip. 👍
And that's why I love these vids. For me, the wd40 check of the valve grind process was news for me too.
....wait..."Boat Beard?!?"

Can you down the road put sleeves on the crack so that you can make the motor run a long time
Hi Flynn, I'm sure that one could press the sleeve out and make a replacement if they needed to. This one is fine though, the water leak is gone 👍
