GMC use to make good cars, but got greedy and started adding nothing and raising prices to unreal levels.
That’s what Americans like though
GM and Ford have labor cost issues throughout. They cannot make money on cheap cars. They have to sell high priced models to survive . It’s a harbinger of things to come

UAW. They want to make $200,000 a year. Car prices have skyrocketed. Duh.
I don’t need a turbo, start/stop, lane departure, electronic hand brake. You know what I mean?
It you can have the discipline to not put your foot into an accelerator, a turbo can provide better fuel economy while then providing power on demand if needed like not seeing a car when you've already committed to a turn. Not many people have that discipline, though.

American automakers are still operating under the delusion that they will make money as a subscription service for navigation, entertainment, and self-driving technologies. Maybe that would work if you're selling cars for $20,000. But for $60,000+, people have spent enough money without obligating themselves to infinity (the time period not the car). At its most basic, people buy a car because they need to get from A to B reliably and cheaply, not live out their existence in an exotic dream world. Apparently, the only ones inhabiting a dream world are car company executives.

Those electric charging stations should have a pull out hose that pulls back into the machine when you're done so you can't access the hose unless you scan your card. They will come up with that soon I'm sure. I bet you some people are just sabotaging them because they don't like electric cars.
Those that cut the holes and keep the hose, are probably selling them.
Times are very tough for a many. 😢
In poor neighborhood you can get car jack while charging EV. I had 3 station of charging stations but no one can effort EV so it is abondond and waiting to be stolen or vanderlized since it is insulting low in come people.
But nobody cares what people do to EV stations.
I was an American car fans in the 90s; however, all America cars turn into unreliable trash now. It is such a painful & expensive life to live in America to have an unreliable car. After a couple terrible Ford & GM cars, I am now a loyal Honda & Toyota only car shopper.
UAW has ruined everything.
GREAT video, Scotty! Thanks a million!

I doubt many are charging their electric cars in Houston the past few days. About 450K customers in TX are without power, mostly in Houston area. there were over a miliona few days ago.
No power no gas either
@@arghsonofcliff You can have a can or two of gas in the tool shed (with stabilizer), like I do for hurricane season. Good luck with having a "can" of electricity big enough to move your EV.

Hate all the missing dipsticks too. Just today I had my transmission fluid changed on my 2014 Toyota Avalon XLE. I would have tried to do it myself but honestly I’m afraid to mess up. So I had an appointment with the dealer at 7:00am this morning. $485
Had all fluids changed at 60,000 miles and now at 100,000 I felt it was due for transmission fluid change. I still do oil changes myself every 5,000 miles or 6 months. I’ll be flushing the radiator fluid soon, too. $485. $250 for labor, $27 in taxes $26 in shop/environmental fees and the rest was the actual trans fluid.$182. Must be some golden fluid. Oh well. While I was there I looked at some new cars. Crown was $56,000 Tundra $72,000. I guess the $485 was cheap comparatively!
No one goes to car shows in the US anymore because no American one can afford a $100K US-made pickup truck, so why bother looking.
I've a seen vlogger, this American guy in Shanghai said the roads was eerily devoid of engine noise because there are so many EV on their roads. Same with another European couple who said the same in another city. This is why their air pollution have been drastically reduced
Radio Shacks are not all gone here in San Luis Obispo. We have two of them.
The charging stations are out in the middle of nowhere so they don't burn the city down when the batteries go Hiroshima.
I was watching news out of the UK the powers that be put up camera's in these 15 minute city's and people were cutting them down lots of copper in them lmao

I have a 2008 Chrysler T & C LTD with V6 that I bought in 2011 with 50K miles on it. It now has 150K and never had a major problem. Also have a 2007 Toyota Solara V6 Convertible that I bought with 9K miles in 2010. It now has 140K miles and never had a major problem, except the piece of crap dash that's cracked to pieces. I never got the notification from my dealer that they got the dash to replace mine. By the time I decided to try to get it replaced, I was one month too late. I do most of my own maintenance, except the timing belts on both cars at the correct intervals. I have used only full synthetic oil in both of them since I got them. Neither one has ever been wrecked, and I did Oil changes at 7,000 miles or less, with only top of the line oil filters. Neither car uses oil or makes any odd noises in the motor. Both are in very good condition, and I expect to keep them both for at least another 50k miles each, or 5 years. I don't want anything newer than 2010.

Hole Foods is just an overpriced Safeway.
Donuts. Donuts are hole foods.
Mr. Mercedes with power issues check for rodent damage before buying a new ignition switch. If a rodent eats through certain wires it can cause a lot of electrical issues. Look for droppings or nesting materials. Don’t overlook the wiring inside the car under the dash.
Older S-Class Mercedes-Benzes have a module for sensing whether or not the light bulb in the trunk is burned out. And, it doesn't set the check engine light, but when you connect the scan tool to it more likely than not, it's going to tell you that the module has gone bad before it tells you that the light bulb is burned out! And connecting a scan tool that reads everything properly, is going to show all sorts of faults that have nothing to do with the engine controls and emissions controls...
I don't want an EV no matter where it's built or what the price is. The one thing that I think is turning people off to cars is their increasing complexity and unreliability. The auto industry along with the government are slowly killing the business. I really don't see things getting better any time soon.
More things to go wrong with the vehicles. Car manufacturers love it.
Government controlled by WEF doesn't want individuals to own vehicles.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the more complex any system is, the more can go wrong with it. Look at refrigerators, we had one in a cottage years back that was 30 years old. When we sold the cottage we left it there, I wonder if it's still working. My neighbor had two go bad in the past five years. They make junk nowadays. Yeah, expensive junk. They give you a one year warranty on many things, that tells you they don't trust the thing to last more than a year.😂
@@genek8630 The biggest problems with old refrigerators were the fans and defroster rods breaking. Neither was expensive to replace. Now I hear they are gluing joints in refrigerant lines instead of soldering. Plus circuit boards to go bad.
@Benzley722 It really isn't. Maybe safety standards, but it is almost completely because of Corporate greed and lobbying. They want to convince you that you want to buy a full sized SUV and truck because THEY want you to buy them because they make the most money off of them. SUVs and Trucks are anywhere from 2 - 4 times the price of an entry sedan. It is COMPLETELY about money.

There is a simple solution to the cable stealing problem - just have sockets on the charging stations instead of cables and make customers bring their own cables! Another solution would be a retractable cable that would be released after a payment is made by a credit card or an app. But instead of retractable cables that would make sense, Tesla makes useless and stupid retractable door handles that often break!
One particular Tesla model has retractable door handles. not all of them. The socket you mention is used widely here in Europe but only for A/C charging. a D/C supercharger cable is way too big and heavy to carry around. As for vandalism, protestors in Germany recently committed arson, setting light to a local power substation in an effort to prevent Tesla production. People don't like change.
You'll lose around 3 to 5% of battery capacity per year, no matter what. So, if the original range was 200 miles, you're down to 120 miles after 10 years. Then, if you live in an area where it gets to below zero every year, battery capacity is further reduced by around 50%, which brings the range down to 60 miles. Then, if you're stuck in a 2 hour traffic jam in rush hour during an evening snow storm, your lights, defrost, cabin heat, wipers, denser cold air and snow further reduce range by 50%. Then, you're down to 30 miles range and praying to God you can make it home without freezing to death.
Dont worry, they already thought about that with the bonfire mode
Nice! So true though. Why on Earth would someone buy a car that cannot be fixed?
That is some bro science and bro math if I've ever seen one.
@@gandhisFlipFlops "Even below 50, you'll start seeing degradation of about 30%. At -15, you can probably expect up to about 50% range decrease."

I wouldn't think of electric vehicles. Look at all the storms knocking out power. I asked a rep from DTE about costs of electric going up. There's people can't afford their bills now. While watching a car auction of classic dars on TV today I wondered, 50 years from now will then be selling classic electric cars from 2024? Somehow I doubt it. Who could work on them?
That's like saying in the 80's "Who's going to buy a personal computer? Who could work on them?" Mechanics will update their skills as more Electric Cars are introduced. I'm in IT and I need to update my skills at least annually to keep up.
The thing is the majority of American would eagerly buy a reliable affordable car that says “Made in the USA”. But they don’t exist. I blame the disconnect between Shareholders, Management, and Unions. The shareholders just want to maximize their dividend payouts, management just cares about the numbers on their screens, and the Unions just care about keeping everything running even if it’s pumping out garbage.
It's the UAW. Unions think they can have $200,000 a year, and car prices won't go up.

Lol vote, that's a good one
Competition is good for the consumer, let the Chinese flood the market, this will only make US automakers make cars better quality at competitive prices, they don't want that, they want to continue selling crap that maybe survives 100K miles without mechanical problems and charge you 50K for it.
