You may have the CH430 chip on it - download CH341SER.zip driver and try that

thanks for the video, to check the cable doe it need to be plugged into the serial connection?
simply plugging in my cable to usb on the windows 8.1 laptop, and nothing connected to the other end and running mprog, shows 6001, which leaves me to believe its not bricked? for some reason the windows update stopped me from connecting to my megasquirt ecu for my car, so if it's not the cable then i dont know what it is!

hey, do you have any idea why i cant program it? i used mprog and ft_prog , it says every time "programmed successfull", but when i rescan again it has the same description, like it never programmed, i reinstalled the drivers, manually installed it etc, nothing works. do you have any idea?

Hello, I have a device with a fake ft232r inside. The chip doesnt want to save the program. Any workaround?
Are you able to save to your hard drive or you can't program the chip?
@@MrPvallone I can't program the chip.. but i can read it with FT_PROG. FT_PROG says that there is no EEPROM and the serial number of the chip is A50285BI. I googled this S/N and I found that it is a well known serial for fake chips.

its confirmed i ordered a ftdi chip.. its real.. just make sure its laser etched and only install on windows xp.. xp because you have sermun.sys driver and xp was wayyyyyy back when before the driver 2.10 and 11 came out sermun.sys or dll has to be 2.0.8 version you can check this by gong into system 32 folder then drivers and searching for it.. right click then properties then version etc.. it will tell you its a serial driver....
then when you plug in it will install that driver then right click properties and check the pid.. if its oo1 you are fine it didnt change it if its 000 then it did and its bricked..
but it does work on xp since all the drivers are super old and xp has no more support.. try it possibly on win vista.. since its old.. windows 7 you might be pushing it windows 7 from 2009 build has the sermun.sys and is the 2.0.8 version but try at your own risk windows 7 support i think is still active i might be wrong... but vista has stopped ....
this is only if you own windows 8 that this problem happens.... i hate windows 8 i refuse to use it its ugly and hard to use...so i stick with 7
just some advice and you shoulndt have a problem with xp..

I've managed to update to the official latest version of vcds from their website with the cloned cable. Saved myself about 400 quid.

I have ufs3. And it's also the same program. So you can tell me how to do it and how to download it. I have a mprog. Just let me know this way.

This will only work if the ufs3 has the FTDI chip.
does this mean you cant use the device on windows?
If it’s bricked, that means you can’t use it. However the video shows you how to unbrick it.

No, The Micros have native USB inside the AVR, and don't use an FTDI chip.
