Hey Chad its me Keith. Met you last December with Adrian and Anne and Brians wife. We took pictures. Have yours and Adrians coffee mugs. Just want to get your facts straight. I was stationed there from Jan 89 to Jun 91. Was there when Mt Pinatubo erupted and was evacuated back here to the U.S. There was never a walking street named then. I think that term came about after the base was closed as they were trying to rebuild Ang Just giving youeles City. That term was copied from the walking street in Thailand. Megs Dance Club was the old Silks Disco which was awesome. The side street where Kokomos is and where Tequila Reef is was called Blow Row. Not hard for you to figure that term out. First street was where the brothers hung out because thats where the soul food restaurants were. Just giving you the true facts Chad. Love you Bro. Always be safe and blessed.
great clarification 👍 it is tough finding out the true facts of places here.. other than from those who lived it and you all are the best informers of how it was, how crazy it got and what REALLY happened 😃🤘 Thank you for the info i really appreciate that ✌️sounds like the good times of yesteryear was the time to be here
Sorry man but "Walking St" didn't develop until after the base was long gone, those signs and the rules of no driving down it came about in late 90s early 2000s. There were bars of course in that same area and much more going all the way up perimeter road during military/Clark AB days but it was all considered Fields Ave. Years After the base closure they named it Walking ST trying to copy Pattaya Thailand and draw tourists in since the base was no longer there and numbers of bars and revenue from the military guys declined tremendously.
@@FOCUSonASIA13 that makes sense.. the article i read said all the bars restaurants and entertainment venues eventually led to the pedestrianization of the street but gave no exact dates 👍
@@candyman8055 MY Only time in Olongapo during the heyday was when we evac'd down to there from Clark for Pinatubo. First night I went out the gate I was blown away by the mass of bars and nightlife compared to Clark. Add on Barrio Baretto and man that was a ton of places to visit

I was inPattaya Thailand the week before my first visit to Angeles I knew nothing about Walking street in Pattaya before I got there. I have to say I had an amazing time my first night I went to Phuket and experienced that walking street next and then flew to Angeles. When the bellman walked me to my hotel room he pointed out Walking street from my window. I had no Idea there was a walking street in Angeles before I got there. It was New Years Eve I got to walking street about 6 pm and meandered into High Society nightclubabout 9 pm. about 11pm hundreds of the prettiest Asian girls I’d ever seen all filled the club I caught the prettiest one walking in the door and danced the New year in with her had an amazing time with her we went back to my hotel about 4 am and consummated the night. Long story short 9 years later I’m back in Angeles right now living with her in Jandi Palace we’ve been in touch for 9 years. she’s 39 now and takes care of me like we’ve been living together for 9 years instead of an LDR. I’m happier than a fly in sht right now. 9 years in the waiting. Would’ve been back sooner if not for the pandemic.
i understand that the bars were not originally in Fields AVE but further up towards Angeles itself, at some stage they moved to where they are now, in 1980 the bars were spread up to near where the Nursery was, From the traintracks onwards towards perimeter rd and further the road was surfaced just a dusty track, in the early 80,s Redlips near the Clarkton came into being with few if any bars in between. The entrance to Clark was about 400 meters away from the start of Feilds Ave. The EWR was from 80P offstrip to 100 plus in the main areas

Way back when Bodha was just a corporal, I was stationed at Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany. They used to have-I don't know if they still have them-what was known as "Fish Bars." But they didn't have any fish! Yup, there were plenty of "crabs" to be had at the fish bars! But they weren't crabs!
A few years back Mrs. Rick and I had a few days in Angeles City while waiting for our flight back to the States. Our hotel was a few blocks from Walking Street, so we decided on Friday night to head down there to see just what it was like. We toured the length of the street while observing all the happenings. I am not sure who was laughing at whom the most. The two of us laughing at all the pitiful old men lining the bars staring out at the women or the old guys in the bars laughing at me for being arm-in-arm with a silver-haired, 70-year-old Lola while I was surrounded by hundreds of young, nubile, eager, professional working ladies.
Another good video keep them coming. Fields is not the same as it use to be years ago when it was a really fun night out in the bars. Had some great people there in years past, I think the best bar is Champagne great people there. Happy New Year

I have seen photo's of Bars in Angeles from the early 60's it would not surprised me that they were what is now the vendor shops same side as the 2 Jeep Terminals and there was at least 1 bar near Amiga Travel as you go towards the Margareta Station
i chatted with a friend of yours there who owns a couple bars and he was saying that the Korean bars were upping the bar fines not the rest of them. but they also were not fun to hang out with but more of in a rush to get you buying the girls drinks and get to the bar fines.
The re-branding of "lower" Fields Avenue did not happen till the mid 90's, a few years after the USAF abandoned Clark. It was a period when several bars were taken over by Pattaya (Thailand) bar owners - bringing their "Walking Street" label with them. I agree with Jimmy D (Harry the Horse) that the Angeles bars were not what we old timers would term "Red Light" (which to me is hard core prostitution) but a lot softer entertainment venues. Many of the girls were there to meet up with G.I.s to find boy friends, and support families. The business model has changed since 1991, but the girl friend experience is common. So Entertainment area not Red Light. You are doing no one any favours by branding it so.

didnt here about a re-opening but did hear there are already troops here somewhere 😳 i believe the troubles with the Philippines Coast Guard vessels and China has stopped so somethings going on
Not sure where you got that comparison of Walking street to nevada brothels, but thats way off. Ive talked to a couple of girls that work in nevada, theyre asking north of 1000 dollars per HOUR. Also from my trip when i was there in November, the highest i was quoted for a barfine was 6000 pesos, the average veing 4500 or so. And that gets you all night, not just an hour. So the value proposition of walking street is still there.
good question maybe someone can elaborate on.. it seems that a lot girls everywhere are willing participants but like to keep it on the down-low it’s nice you can talk freely here and not run the risk of harassment 👍
My ex-wife used to work at an internet cafe on Fields Avenue. In 1999, we walked there during the busy evening. I think my ex liked looking at the women more than I did...lol. The biggest mistake I ever made was bringing her to California, where I'm from.
