"Lay Your Head Down," performed by Sinead O'Connor and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra for the ALBERT NOBBS soundtrack. Song is written by Brian Byrne and Glenn Close.
RIP Sinead. For anyone who wishes to Watch, Glenn Close left a touching and beautiful eulogy for Sinead and tells of the genesis of this song. Very touching.😢
We all know why they didnt win the awards the industry still does'nt like Sinéad i have huge respect for Glen Close for giving the song to Sinéad to sing it would have been wonderful to see them both win awards and finally see Sinéad get some recognition for her beautiful singing voice🙏
I lost my precious, beautiful sister who was born with Downs, and hearing this absolutely breaks my heart. How I miss her. It's like there's a crack in my very soul. 🥺
This song is too good to be nominated in Oscars.. The song itself runs deep into my veins, down into my bones, and seeps into my soul.. What an amazing masterpiece..
Glenn Close's performace in this film was a graceful integral masterpiece There are a few reasons why I feel that this film is one of the most realistic films that she has ever done, and I would like to share them with you.In this film she is gusty, revelutionary, and in my opinion, it took hard studying to accomplish a role like that one.I believed that she gave it her all to partake in a role this extensive. In the end I found this project to be fulfitting of Glenn winning an academay award.
Wow, saw this movie yesterday evening and was just absolutely floored by the sheer talent that brought the movie to the screen. Another fellow sitting behind me repeated my thoughts, when , at the end, he said, "Well, Glenn Close is certainly going to be giving Meryl Streep a good run for her money!!". Oustanding!!! Glenn Close should surely take something for this. What a beautiful work of art that carries such a timely message for our times.
I have just adored this film totaly...music is perfect...Sinead O'Connor has always been there but sure now will be for ever..:)) and Glenn Close is just amazing....thanks everyone who is in this movie..
Can’t you?! Sinead has been blacklisted from American awards and media for 30+ years, for daring to challenge the power of the corrupt and mighty roman catholic church.
I just watched the movie! It truly touched my soul!! An amazing story and Glenn Close was incredible! This year's Golden Globe should have been given to her! I adore Meryl but i think Glenn was the one who deserved it most! The same with the soundtrack! I absolutely love it!! I hope that the Oscar will be given to her!!! Although for me Glenn and Sinead are already winners!
I pray her beautiful, troubled soul has found peace. there's something stunningly unstudied about her performances, almost as if she were practicing alone in her living room
Remember the great thing is Sinead's voice and emotion to the song but it was written by Glenn Close and Brian Byrne...that makes it even more amazing to me.
This is Glenn Close? Beautiful! Persuasive, touching. And Sinead... no surprise, that Peter Gabriel loved her. My breath stops for a sec, every time she appears.
Glenn Close's performance in Albert Nobbs was an outstanding, memerable, award winning performance that will always be etched in my brain as well crafted monunental masterpiece theatre .
first: Sing to me softly your tales of woe I'll cradle you closely, I won't let go I'll speak to you gently of what I know Don't you cry Lay your head down darling The moon is sailing by The stars are softly shining The tide is full and high We'll fly to the edge, not as distant as it seems And maybe we'll find out the key to your dreams So you just lay your head down darling Sleep now, La la la la la
@mammo26 Second: Winds blow, rains fall But it’s warm by the fire’s light Hush, don’t you see? You’re here with me And there’s dawn at the end of the night Lay your head down darling The moon is sailing by The stars are softly shining The tide is full and high We’ll fly to the edge, not as distant as it seems And maybe we’ll find out the key to your dreams So you just lay your head down darling Sleep now, La la la la la

@greg26742 She has always chosen the right notes.she can do both strong parts and gentle whispering.Look, last year wasn't good but now her voice is back.did you hear her on concerts a few weeks ago?Maybe she 's cut down on smoking?
Well if you are still with us to get this message...you are so lucky to have a "darlin' " to feel that way about. I envy you. If you have left us...blessed be to the next life sharing your dreams.
How comes I've only just come across this? TH-cam hasn't put it in my suggested for you list? . .. anyway it's a pretty ditty. She could sing Humpty Dumpty and I'd like it!
@tyefr78 very sad...I was sad because of the sad ending...even though, in a way, thanks to A. Nobbs (the character), there is a happy ending (on the side) (;o)* All actors were good... Melody Fox (aka the Princess of Rock) Love Peace Music p.s.: in the end titles, I recognized immediately the nightinghale, Sinead O'Connor
@PumpkinPie89 Glen Close has chosen sinead to sing this on purpose.Which artist could sing this song in such a gentle and delicate way and sound true?any particular names?
@PumpkinPie89 I see.I guess Celine Dion would be great singing this as well.Well, maybe I am not fair in my opinions being such a die hard fan of Sinead.Any way I love this version and tha't my point
@mammo26 I'll divided in 2 or 3 parts here. First: Sing to me softly your tales of woe I’ll cradle you closely, I won’t let go I’ll speak to you gently of what I know Don’t you cry Lay your head down darling The moon is sailing by The stars are softly shining The tide is full and high We’ll fly to the edge, not as distant as it seems And maybe we’ll find out the key to your dreams So you just lay your head down darling Sleep now, La la la la la
Certain little parts of this remind me of the melody from the theme song from The Land Before Time. Just a little tiny bit. Like where she says "down darling".
I agree this should have been nominated, however I'm still glad THE MUPPETS won. What I want to know is why Glenn Close didn't win Best Actress. She deserved it, but the Academy felt bad for Streep after being nominated 17 times.
@trc2rockon yeah, both The Help & Albert Nobbs should've been included! The songs are amazing! I couldn't believe that the stupid muppet got that category!
RIP Sinead. For anyone who wishes to Watch, Glenn Close left a touching and beautiful eulogy for Sinead and tells of the genesis of this song. Very touching.😢
It’s sad that apparently Sinead didn’t have anyone to fulfill these lyrics for her. May she now rest in peace.
Sinead O'Connor's rendition of this song is breathtaking. Rest in peace, sweet angel.

Rip, Sinead, you beautiful soul. I hope you found your peace.
I'd love Sinead to release an album of all the soundtracks she has done, every one has been amazing.
👍that would be a good album she's done so many
This song is too good to be nominated in Oscars.. The song itself runs deep into my veins, down into my bones, and seeps into my soul.. What an amazing masterpiece..

What a voice❤❤❤
The 1st Annual RADIO IRISH Awards 2012 have voted "Lay Your Head Down" the Best Song of the Year.

What a great artist and human being Sinead O´Connor is ...
Wow, saw this movie yesterday evening and was just absolutely floored by the sheer talent that brought the movie to the screen. Glenn Close wrote the lyrics to this and asked Sinead to perform it for the film.
Excellent movie... Glenn Close as great as ever.
Beautiful song, very touching.
Sinead O Connor has the voice of an angel.....beautiful and so touching.
Thumbs up to whoever editied this piece around sinead O'Conner's song "Lay Your Head Down".
Lovely song sung by beautiful Sinéad🙏
If she doesn't get the oscar this year, something's seriously wrong with the Oscar.
This song makes me sob like a child.
Why oh Why does this give me chills and want to cry when I listen to it and remember the movie?
It Has the same effect on me
A beautiful film, accompanied with a stunning song !
Remember the great thing is Sinead's voice and emotion to the song but it was written by Glenn Close and Brian Byrne...that makes it even more amazing to me.

Sinead V.S. The Cranberries 2012. Sinead nailed this song.
@greg26742 She has always chosen the right notes.she can do both strong parts and gentle whispering.Look, last year wasn't good but now her voice is back.did you hear her on concerts a few weeks ago?Maybe she 's cut down on smoking?
absolute love this song. beautiful
Not fir an Oscar but for a Golden Globe . Wonderful song.
so beautiful
I love movie
Because real art is rarely recognized in Hollywood nowadays.

@RosieAlaska agreed. Glenn Close is in my view the most underrated film actress in modern contexts
Thank you sooooo much!

isn't Sinnead an Irish singer? This goes well with the film which takes place in Ireland
@mammo26 I'll divided in 2 or 3 parts here. First:
Sing to me softly your tales of woe
I’ll cradle you closely, I won’t let go
I’ll speak to you gently of what I know

Sinead V.S. the Cranberries 2012!!!!!
So... Wonderfull...
Very nice story... :'(
Certain little parts of this remind me of the melody from the theme song from The Land Before Time. Just a little tiny bit. Like where she says "down darling".
I agree with you, she should've got more awards for her role as Patty Hewes in damages
Tyefr78: is the movie good? I wish i can watch it here but my country will not show it because not many people can appreciate drama type of movies.
I agree this should have been nominated, however I'm still glad THE MUPPETS won. What I want to know is why Glenn Close didn't win Best Actress. She deserved it, but the Academy felt bad for Streep after being nominated 17 times.
好好聽
This should have won the GOLDEN GLOBE over Madonna.
I know what the movie is about. I just would have liked to have see her go all the way that's all I was saying.
@trc2rockon yeah, both The Help & Albert Nobbs should've been included! The songs are amazing! I couldn't believe that the stupid muppet got that category!
@EurovisionFan1990 Definetely Yes has the rythm of synthesizers but not the letters of her
challengers
at least it got a golden globe nomination
