Like every issue is placed on one of two sides of a gigantic scale. ⚖️ They seem to think if one group or issue starts getting more rights or attention, the other half (in their minds) gets less. “More civil rights for minorities? Then you must be taking from my side!” “Equal rights for women? Well then men must be getting ignored!” And so on. They can’t conceive that when someone else achieves, what they already have is being left untouched. They see someone else obtaining respect means disrespect toward themselves. No one else is allowed to feel as happy, safe, or privileged as they feel or else the scale must be tipping. (But be cautious about offering empathy to them. That’s a four-letter word where they come from.)

Hi @eralashly! The word order for this phrasal verb is interchangeable in most situations. The two situations where it is not interchangeable are if the object is a pronoun (for example, "I turned it on" -- "turn" and "on" must be separated), and if the object is very long (for example, "I turned on the lamp I got for my birthday last year"-- it is preferable to not have "turn" and "on" separated). I hope this helps!
