    This footage really gives you an insight into the power of a tornado's inner core. It's low precipitation, with a compact main vortex, and it's being shot from the perfect location. It kinda reminds me of Elie Manitoba, because it didn't have to turn into a wedge to show off its ferocity.

    • @lancecurry7538
      @lancecurry7538 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The Elie F5 was about as big _as_ this tornado here, except it was a singular vortex (this EF4 was a multi-vortex) and it _still_ tossed a house.

      Yeah. Some tornadoes are weird like this. They look all pretty and don't look so scary but if you take a closer look you see how violent that wind is. This one looks kinda in between the pretty tubes dancing in a field and the big blobs that are a mile wide and ready to kill people. That rotation is crazy too. I want to find what tornado has the highest rpm. Cause some of them look real fast. I remember I saw a clip of a super narrow tornado shredding up a corn field spinning way fast. I know Reed Timmer was there too. But I don't remember which one it was.

    Great chase & superb quality videography! 👍👍 The more distant shot of the tornado, before it transitioned into a wedge & was coloured by the soil/debris, was absolutely stunning!

    I admire the people like Tim, who do this to deploy sensors, to help understand and predict what is going on, to help get data so fewer people die and fewer towns are wrecked.
    People who drive their friends into the suckiest side of tornadoes so they can get pictures to upload … not so much.

    until footage like this I used to think tornados were just strong horizontal direction winds. like a small powerful hurricane. but seeing all the horizontal tendrils and watching footage of clear, non rain wrapped tornados its astonishing to see so much omni direction turbulence. reminds me of the beach when a huge wave crashes down on you. yeah theres water pushing you down but it feels like your limbs could be torn off from the turbulence. youre being pushed down and pulled and pushed up all at the same time. I cant imagine the chaos and confusion in the core. things are being slammed down and twisted and thrown outward and lifted up all at the same time.. its just intense

    Amazing footage. Yes, scary, humbling, are just a few words to describe what will grip you with awe and wonder. I always thought it is like mother nature slapping one in the face while it ignores the one next to the one being struck. Just don't get in her way she will toss you around like a rag doll. Living in Oklahoma, I always feel dread when the threat looms nearby. But I sincerely fear for those who live in areas of this country that do not normally experience these events. I have witnessed them in the past, cried over the devastation left in its wake, and prayed for those who just don't know what to do. Being struck in the middle of the night without a warning system is horrible. We grew up watching the weather, knowing what to look for and how to prepare. Even what to do if you are caught out traveling. Even still, I have experienced being woke up forced out of my bed in the middle of a cold February night by one of these monsters. That was over forty years ago, and I never forgot it, it was that close. You guys are so brave. Do you know what scares me most? We seem to be overdue around here. I have been watching these storms move north and eastward. Mother nature is so unpredictable, isn't it?

    This footage is truly amazing but please remember that (though it is rare) tornadoes have been recorded to abruptly change direction. Being this close is such an insanely high risk, the footage is not worth dying for.

    Great video!! Hopefully those who were in it's path of destruction were helped quickly! The rest of my comment is based purely on the footage presented in this video. That being said, if Tim had been in an interceptor-type of vehicle (armored, deployable jacks, low drag, etc.) I'd understand hanging that close to a tornado to collect data/footage. However, he was not. Considering that minutes earlier it threw a full-sized F150 pickup like it was a rag doll, that looked DANGEROUSLY close, especially for a violent EF4. Stay safe guys, and remember that no footage/data is worth the loss of human life.

    • @jasondeloach4608

      @IAmTheKurgan unfortunately the "Tim" in that video DID in fact pay that ultimate price. Look up Twistex if you're not familiar. Very sad.

    • @rugbyguitargod
      @rugbyguitargod ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jasondeloach4608 the Tim in this video is not Tim Samaras from TWISTEX. Tim Samaras was killed in the 2013 El Reno tornado along with his son Paul Samaras and researcher Carl Young. The Katie-Wynnewood tornadoes didn't occur until 3 years after El Reno.

    Same as what Arnold Rimmer said, footage now is at our fingertips. I wanted to be a stormchaser as a kid, so it's terrifying and beautiful to see these videos.
    One of my earliest memories, was seeing an F3/F4 a few miles out our basement window in Howell, Michigan. As a kid, I'd run outside with this giant camcorder from the 80s looking for funnels.
    My love and respect to those lost chasing. Twistex will always be ungodly pioneers to me.
