    I am playing loki. I was following a similar guide, the thing I struggled the most when following the guide is actually understanding why I am doing what I am doing. So for instance, saying put this on food, this on coin because you need a temple, then it makes more sense to me at least, that's my suggestion when making these guides, always states why you are doing these things for noobs like me xD

      Hi Kaverna! I understand what you’re saying, I’ll make sure to mention that in future videos

      You can always send your workers on a different resources and then compare your age up timing to the guides. Usually you will see that you aged up later than in the guide. This is when you open replay and figure out why. This process will explain why do you need to send gatherers to a certain resource at the certain times.

    why not dwarf first since he is going into mining? Is he building ox cart slower?

  • @phibershini
    @phibershini 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Not working anymore. Ox carts requires 50 wood instead of 25, so you can't build temple at time. I'm trying to learn Norse, followed this tutorial and got age 2 in ~4:40, its too late against rusher players.

    Why cant you make all gatherers and dwarfs go beserk on controller ? Doing them one by one or 5 by 5 is annoying

    Great video! When you said solely focus on dwarves after age up is that till you have 8 mining or do you essentially stop making gatherers?

    • @Widgie

      Yeah pretty much 7/8 dwarves and then back into gatherers

    Do you think you will dive into team strategies as well for aom?
    Really struggling to get into that part of the game, as it just feels like multiple 1v1 a lot of the time, compared to AoE 3

    Hi widgie thank you so much for the build, I play random all the time and whenever I get Norse I just absolutely get wrecked by Hard AI.... I don't particularly follow a build order since I'm playing for fun, that said... what is the recommended amount of villagers/workers/ratio for resources for casuals like me? I read guides that kept saying to keep building an economy until I can't, so sometimes I end up with 100 econ units and 60 caravens, and only have like 20-30 military units that can't finish off the AIs, I'm so lost with this game...

    • @Danny-gs5dv
      @Danny-gs5dv 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      that's kind of the main reason build orders exist. not because people are try hard but because the math is built inherently into the game.
      for example: when the game starts, you have 3 on food to maintain the food needed to ensure that your villager production has enough food to ensure it never stops.
      then the next goal becomes prioritizing the temple which is 150w/150g, while also keeping in mind that you need 50w for house everytime you reach population cap. so you allocate workers needed to get to 150w/150g to drop temple. Then you move workers off gold because you no longer need gold and move them over to food as the next priority is the 400f required to age up. after age up you then move workers off food to wood/gold to ensure you have the resources for unit production by the time age up is complete. Once age up is complete you want to drop 2 production buildings (which would require about 300w), then get defensive units out (which will require food/gold.)
      that's the basics for opening builds. after that, it becomes more of a matter of reacting to what the opponent is doing. If you want to mass archers against their infantry your resource allocation would need more wood, if you need more infantry vs their cavalry you would need more food. Etc. Etc. The exact number of workers on what resources would be dependent on your army unit composition and the army unit composition would be based on what the opponent's army is. The AI does a pretty good job of making counter units of the units you're producing and is really exploitable. So if you raid them with cav units early, you'll already know they'll produce spearmen because they're a bot and don't deviate away from the algorithm. Which is why playing against AI is something experienced players bounce off of fairly quickly.
      good luck, watch more opening build videoes regarding specific civs if you need more specific information.
      (as far as how many villagers you want in any given game, it's about 100. so don't ever stop producing villagers. Also you want to be equal or +1 to the enemy TC count as their economy will be better if they have more tc than you do and no matter what your allocation is, you'll never catch up resource wise if they have more villagers than you. (outside of attacking them and causing idle time.) When to safely expand to another tc is something learned through expierence and risk/reward of how likely it is that the enemy will attack you and that information can be gathered by scouting. either with a scout or your army. Beware: if you have a slow moving army and you scout around their base, they could easily raid you with cavalry units before your army has time to go back to defend.) Not that AI will do that. It's kind of important to play vs humans if you actually want to learn to play the game at a higher level.)
      if you have issue producing enough army units, despite having good resource economy, that means you're floating resources. (you want to keep your resources low.)
      that means your production buildings have too high of idle time (time not producing units) or you don't have enough military production buildings. So gather some wood and drop more barracks/archery range/stables. (example - if you have enough resources in the bank for 20 archers and your opponent has been gathering resources at the same rate but was spending the resources their army will have 20 archers over you and easily win battles when engaging.)

      Thank you so much to the both of you! Yea I get that build orders and openings are really important for me to start, and I did follow some opening build guides like this video, annndd... funnily enough, now I can survive the AI hitting me, so now my issue is more that I reach pop cap and have like a really small army compared to the AIs since my economy took most of my pop. I think I'll do as you say and reach out to more TCs and see what happens, I'm pretty risk-aversed so I don't tend to push often.
      Thank you both again!

      @@PathOfDamn end game plays a bit differently, when you're max pop you want to go ahead and poke to see what damage you can inflict. If they put a ton of fortresses on one side you can go look for a different attack angle. You don't have to be afraid of trading units out at that point because your production will quickly replace any units that you lose. It's generally safer to take the fight to the enemy, if they're under siege it limits their mobility and map control. But they do have defenders advantage of reinforcement units arriving before yours do. You can always build forward production in that case protected by fortresses. Or if they're turtling and refusing to engage then you can move a small raiding group to scout out the resources that they would have to extend out of their base to collect, cutting off their resource gain so you can eventually win the tug of war of unit trading.
      (You do want to be careful about bad trades, you don't want to lose your army by headbutting units that counter yours just for them to beeline it to your base and turn the tables so you're the one under siege. If that happens, you want to get critical mass (big enough army size) before engaging otherwise youll trickle units to their death.

    I usually do 3 dwarfs and train also a Berserk in archaic just because it makes it easier to scout as you don't have to worry about getting your scout back to the base to build the temple.

    • @Widgie
      @Widgie  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don’t think having the extra Berserk is necessary given the fact that you can take the opportunity to scout more whilst you’re ageing up
