God definitely does not make mistakes! He made all peoples with their in beauty. Women with kinky curly hair is exactly what God wanted us to have. It's beautiful and unmatched! Embrace you!
This is an important topic for the natural hair community. I personally stopped wearing silky straight faux hair. I began to become dissatisfied with how I really looked without that hair. My eyes were confused when I saw my natural hair again. The texture and curl pattern seemed odd. Now, I only purchase 4a curly medium length and density natural brown color wigs to use as a protective style. This matches my own hair. 👏 to you for addressing this topic.
I'm natural all my life, I'm really happy my mom made us embrace our natural hair since childhood...... I didn't realize what it was until now and I've told my mom, how happy I am to be natural all my life....... thanks for the video God doesn't make mistakes

@@doll.ov.poetrii4682 So true. I have seen pictures of myself at 4y/o with a Just For Me relaxer. I remember being in 6th grade and being totally confused during biology when my teacher tried explaining to me that my hair was actually curly, so I had to categorize myself as "curly" during one of our experiments (I categorized myself as straight hair smh).
The delusion is real. I was on a hair styling video, told them their real/natural hair looked better, suddenly all these offended comments flooded my feed. Like they don't even want to hear the truth because they are so busy believing the lie. Don't know why people can't just take a compliment.
You’re my hero! I have decided to wear and have been wearing my natural twists in public. I’m not ashamed of my hair anymore! Thank you for confidence boost!
I could definitely relate. We have been brainwashed about the standard beauty for many years. I wish I had all this knowledge about natural hair back then I would have never permed my hair. I love and appreciate my natural hair now and I’m going to teach my daughter to embrace her natural hair and let her know it’s beautiful just the way God made it. I enjoyed this video so much Obaa Yaa 💕
My mom and I are are currently watching this video on our television 📺... *We fully agree with your statements* 😉 It's also because a lot of black women didn't have very long hair back then, so we subconsciously associated long hair with straight hair and short hair, with kinky hair. If a lot of us had long kinky hair, the obsession with straight hair, hardly would be there.
I've learnt over the years that straight hair doesn't suit me as much as my coily hair, I do wear a blow out sometimes and it's still big hair but not bone straight, and that's how I like it now. I don't need to put my hair away to protect it, unless I'm wearing a head scarf/hat, i like when my scalp can breathe!
I am so glad that you are reminding your daughter that she is perfect just the way she was created! I have never cared for wigs, but if it looks good on someone, thats great! I just don't like how some people wear wigs/ weaves to hide their beautiful 4b/4c hair.🙁 That doesn't scream self love. P.s this was a real good video!
As a matter of fact, I like my hair with texture. Straight hair to me is totally boring with no life. Unfortunately as an African child whose mother was uninformed about how to care for her hair I got my first relaxer at age of 6. Now that I am older and gone natural I don't let any one tell me my hair is bad the way it grows out of my scalp. I have learned and still learning what works for my hair. Even though I do have a baby boy, I make sure to tell him the texture of His hair is perfect the way it comes out of his head even though he's still too young to understand. Guys do put chemicals too looking to achieve some waves so it's not just a female thing. I hope that by the time he's a teenager i will instill pride in his texture and everything about him. If he chooses to keep his hair cut low it's perfect too or grow into a nice afro and just be proud of either.
Sometimes i’ll go weeks wearing colored wigs, they’re all type 3 curly (pink, purple, gray, etc.) it’s hard to find type 4 colored wigs that aren’t meant to be clown wigs. Other times i’ll rock my natural hair defined or picked out. Depends on my mood! I agree with so many points in this video. People should love their natural texture (stretched or not) AND rock it versus hiding it! We black women need to love our hair before altering our appearance AND take care of our hair that’s under the wig.
I'm not obsessed with straight hair. I keep my hair stretched in twists and it looks like its blow dried, especially as it's getting longer. I only see my curls on wash day 🤷🏾♀️
The deeply rooted desire comes from early propaganda in children's education.By education I mean what is taught at home, the toys, the videos, Disney movie characters, the colorism dilemma , hair descriptive language used when referring to our hair etc.The internalized hatred of our own appearance is profoundly rooted in the African diaspora throughout American Continent. Total self acceptance is a process for blacks in this culture since it is continually undermined as part of daily life. One overt step is to wear your hair natural for a designated period of time , (example 6 months) see how you feel, record others reactions to your hair, question their responses.Fall in love with yourself as GOD created you!
Why are some of us black women obsessed with hair period? Rather it’s curly, wavy , or straight. That’s all I hear is what’s your hair type? 3A 3B 4C and so on. Then the Loc methods, not to mentioned all of the natural hair products. I never got into the natural hair community, I guess because I really don’t care. I’ve been natural all my life , got 2 relaxers and that was it. My scalp in just too sensitive and with my hair texture I never did need one anyway. So I just leave my hair alone , used the old school Elasta QP, and Parnevu T-tree creme, and my hair is just as fine, long, and moisturizer. I don’t have thick hair due to my family roots on my mother side. It seems like we are the only race that it’s so obsessed with hair. Just saying 😉
I were wigs only for special occasions but that's rarely for me.I rock my kinky coily 4a4b hair all the time and love my hair inside out.I started getting perms when I was 9 years old to 21 years old I got tired of getting perms so I shaved all off.Im teaching my nieces to love their hair in its natural state.❤
Speak up Sis. You are really speaking my mind. I’m a growing Ghanaian TH-camr and a hairstylist on the side. I always say this to my friends and sometimes they cut me off ‘cause I speak the hard truth. They tell me if I’m gonna talk about these kinda topics on my channel I won’t get more views and subscribers.
Hey , how are you, this video is exactly what is going on. Our black women believe this thing for years, they are in all these HBO hair belongs to others. Bwoy they need to mash up the box. Great video 👍 bless up!!!
It’s the tv! Why we do it. You don’t see it in popular culture, cartoons etc... I did it as a child. When I was a teen I really consciously connected to my hair and decided not to relax. In Jamaica it’s norm to relax after 18, or not relax if you’re like a “serious” spiritual Christian. A lot of people thought it was Christianity why I didn’t relax. But it was just self love. And finding you tube.
I remember wearing a towel too lol. It was because of the L'Oréal adverts 'Because she worth it'. We don't have to blame ourselves, we're the only group that has hair that doesn't move and flow, it's not unnatural for a child to notice that. Flowing hair is celebrated in movies, in ads, out and about e.t.c. It would be impossible to control how our children perceive it, so I think we shouldn't overly stress ourselves about it, as long as we are reaffirm our children in the home and being the example they need to see, that's what's important.
Keep making these videos. Eventually we (naturals) will admit that what you are saying is true. It took us time to realize chemicals were not serving us well. I love the way you don't attack in your choice of words. #TheTruthCanNotBeHidden ❤💙
My dear, I will never ever neglect my natural hair in exchange of any other objects; I mean wigs and perming or stretching!!!!. Thank you XOXO much my fellow commenters for making clear that our God never make any mistakes, he knows how kinky hair looks on us blacks that's why he made it on our heads, so let's embrace it with Joy. As for me I am really proud with my natural hair as long as it's healthy /bouncing and growing bit by bit. Thank you XOXO much Obaa Yaa for your advice and may God bless you and enlarge your Channel . Stay safe 🙏🙏🙏👍❤
Yea I don’t get it either. I don’t wear weave. But if I ever did I’d always get just really long curly hair. I straighten my real hair but only to see the length and trim not because I actually enjoy straight hair because as soon as I do it I’m ready to go back curly
I clearly can relate to what you are saying. I went natural about 11years ago. I wore straight wigs for years. I now only wear natural hair wigs. I decided I was not born with straight hair so why wear it. My hair is not long and full like I desire but I want to look like who I am. The natural hair journey can be a challenge for me right now but I am learning how to care for it under the wigs. Thank you I truly love your tutorials for how to care for our hair type😊
I wear a kinky, blow out texture wig when recording because my hair is always in single plaits/braids so it’s not styled. But I keep my hair in braids because my very fine hair can’t tolerate styling. Only plaits/braids and blow outs and sleek buns. And my husband doesn’t like my sleek buns so I stopped wearing them.
And it's a lie when people say that black beauty is not an ideal. It's all about CONFIDENCE. The majority of white men married to highly melanated women wearing their God given hair are in Europe. America has got to grow up when it comes to hair issues. But it's getting there. You are beautiful.🎉😘
Personally I’ve had straight hair for a longer period of my life than natural hair. So for me, dealing with my natural hair texture as well as doing my own hair care & styling has been a learning curve. In my experience, straight hair is definitely quicker & easier to care for & to style for work.
I had my hair in its natural state for 7 years and it stayed shoulder length. Shed Hair all over the floor was annoying. Been flat ironing to stretch it for 2 years and now I'm 4 inches away from hip length. For a lot of black women it's not an obsession keeping it straight or blow dried to stretch helps retain length depending on your porosity and hair type.
I like straighter hair because it's less maintenance. It doesn't constantly coil on itself. Thats why I like looser curls. It has Nothing to do with anything else. I just want to wake up and go. That being said I love the versatility of my hair way more than limp straight hair.
Empress how is it that every time we are trying to resolve these toxic problems in our community, we are trying not to offend anyone? we fail to realize that diversion takes us nowhere but the same place. Speak truth to authenticity in the preservation of our nurturing young minds. Our babies are under attack and we can't give them the foundation to stand on because we are worried about a broken limb. self-hate is a b****. My sister we are at war and we're going to have casualties either way, which one are you willing to live with? casualties on the path to destruction or casualties on the foundation of truth. love you Empress. 🖤❤💚
Why do black women obsess over straight hair? That is unfair. I'm glad at 4:37 you just came out and said you used to feel more beautiful with straight hair but that is not all of us who wear straight hair. Im natural for 27 years and I feel more beautiful and younger looking with my natural hair. However, I wear my hair straight 90% of the time not because I'm "obsessed" but because it is easier for me to manage my time. My texture is 3b/3c and is assumed by many to be somehow "easier", it is not easy, especially since it goes down to my butt. I love it, but it really is a lot to deal with. As a busy mom who is self employed, the 4-5 hour maintenance on freshly washed hair is so insane I straighten it and put it in a bun most days so I can get away with only washing it once a month. I have never been obsessed. For me its about simplicity. That should be ok.
You don't see alot of straight hair on TV, it is mostly wavy hair especially hair that waves at the bottom, this is the TV look, go look at TV at you will see what I am talking about.
Just so tired of the obsession of the straight hair argument. Sometimes many of us just want an easier way to deal with our hair by straightening it. It is time consuming dealing with our natural hair. Most of us who straighten, use creamy crack are not trying to obsess over the European standard of beauty but only to achieve some easier maintenance over it. We have beautiful hair and can do a lot with it but it is time consuming to maintain. If you're natural that's great. If a bw wants variety and a different look, that's great too.
Question, Why do you place your child in a class where she is the only black person? Are you aware of what you are subjecting your child to psychologically, socially etc.?
Teach your children about all of God's Word, such as no fornicator shall enter into heaven. [ sex outside of marriage]. Clothing, music, language all play a big part.
Amen Beauty, God doesn’t make mistakes. ✨🕊✨ ‘Almighty whitey’ has done one hell of a number on the psyche of the melanin rich natural woman. If you can’t see, own, and deeply value the natural beauty of your Crown and truly Love it, who will? For as long as I can remember the natural and powerful beauty of kinky/ tightly coiled hair long or short, especially short with it’s particular way of highlighting the beauty and dignity of the natural woman has been evident to these eyes. Although I couldn’t understand then the refusal of many natural woman to fully embrace and Love their hair, I understand now. Yes, I now recognize the artificial sense of shame instilled by that devil, and the harm done. Even so, I will never accept it as a reason to deny the Creator. Yes, it is one Hell of a number that blonde haired, blue eyed devil has perpetrated, but there is no righteous excuse to keep that great Lie alive today. Shout down that devil, the Truth is simply not in him. Shout him down and claim your inheritance. Denying the Creator by denying your Crown is not going to get you into Heaven. Embrace your brother and sister no matter the color or the form save for those who insist on wielding their color or form, or lack thereof, as a weapon. An unrighteous, unholy weapon. Spew the unrighteous, whatever the form or the color, from your mouth and reclaim your good minds, and your connection to the Divine. Whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in Heaven. ~ Matthew 10:33 #TheVeryHairsOfYourHeadAreAllNumbered #StandAndBeCounted
You mention God then call his white children devils, because you are not white and you do not have blonde or red hair and blue or green eyes. Stop your hate. God made us all different, envy is a sin. Jesus had a lot more to say about character than hair.
Why do people who wear their hair naturally obssess over women who wear their hair straight or any other way? You do you, and let them do them. We all have choices. There is no wrong way in how we choose to wear our own hair. Stop with the division. If you are confident in wearing your hair naturally, you wouldn't need such a video. Are you seeking cheerleaders to make yourself feel better in wearing your hair in its natural state. All Blk women do not need to look alike. Lesrn to do you and only you. You only have power over you. Let other Blk women choose for themselves. Blk women need to stop the madness in how they wear their hair. As Indie Arie sang, "I Am Not My Hair." Our ancestors before slavery wore all sorts of hairstyles. Get over it.
honey, white people shaved our hair off during the transatlantic slave trade AND white women were a reason as to why slaves had to wear head wraps to hide their hair. so, no. it's not "just hair". educate yourself!
Black people who act ratchet and ghetto make us ALL look bad right? Well, guess what ? Black women who wear Becky or Ming’s hair 365/yr make us ALL look like we hate our hair. How do you pretend to love what grows out of your scalp when you hide it 11 months out of the year? Y’all would be laughing if you saw white women wearing Afros all year and hiding their silky hair. You would feel like they are envious of your kinky curls. That is exactly what Becky thinks when you’re walking past her swinging hair that looks like HERS (I don’t care if it’s from Malaysia or Brazil). Wear your wigs if you want to. Let the young lady give her opinion on the matter.
Sane people don't ask such a question...why do white women obsess about blonde hair...and blue eyes..straight stupid questions...people do what they like because if it's legal they can ..bleach stretch straight break your ugly nose to fix it..if you think it's ugly ...do what you like in the name of FREEDOM..so long as you don't hurt others...DIY is fine
Most of them want long hair but can't grow it out of the scalp. Sad most of them will buy weave before paying bills. Why? It's is fake. Be happy your are alive and healthy.

Personally I’ve had straight hair for a longer period of my life than natural hair.
So for me, dealing with my natural hair texture as well as doing my own hair care & styling has been a learning curve.
In my experience, straight hair is definitely quicker & easier to care for & to style for work.
I totally understand that, and that is exactly my point. It definitely is a learning curve, but it can be done. 🤎🤎
Different things work for different people.

Hmm… definetly not “alot” of black women, but if it works for you ok. But lets be real with ourselves and stop lying about the main intention.
I like straighter hair because it's less maintenance. It doesn't constantly coil on itself. Thats why I like looser curls. It has Nothing to do with anything else. I just want to wake up and go. That being said I love the versatility of my hair way more than limp straight hair.
Same here, i love my Hair but sometimes I want a different Hairstyle
Empress how is it that every time we are trying to resolve these toxic problems in our community, we are trying not to offend anyone? we fail to realize that diversion takes us nowhere but the same place. Speak truth to authenticity in the preservation of our nurturing young minds. Our babies are under attack and we can't give them the foundation to stand on because we are worried about a broken limb. self-hate is a b****. My sister we are at war and we're going to have casualties either way, which one are you willing to live with? casualties on the path to destruction or casualties on the foundation of truth. love you Empress.

Your accent is fine! It sounds really pretty, to be honest. Don't worry
I love seeing blacks natural hair!!! Don’t straighten that.
You don't see alot of straight hair on TV, it is mostly wavy hair especially hair that waves at the bottom, this is the TV look, go look at TV at you will see what I am talking about.
What Tv are you looking at?
1st.....🤣🤣🤣😉😉😉😉😉😉😉
Yay!!! Go you!! 🥳🤎
I fell for the nonsense… not anymore though!
Some girls just prefer to straighten their hair because that’s what they like the most.
and why is that? think deeper.
But it’s not their hair. It’s a wig.
Why not have your daughter around other black girls who look like her at school?
🥰🥰🥰❤

Maybe you should research fast hair growth fortified shampoo to double hair growth.
If a bw wants variety and a different look, that's great too.
you missed the point of this entire video
Question, Why do you place your child in a class where she is the only black person? Are you aware of what you are subjecting your child to psychologically, socially etc.?
well they do live in Germany
Teach your children about all of God's Word, such as no fornicator shall enter into heaven. [ sex outside of marriage]. Clothing, music, language all play a big part.
Amen Beauty, God doesn’t make mistakes. ✨🕊✨
‘Almighty whitey’ has done one hell of a number on the psyche of the melanin rich natural woman.
~ Matthew 10:33

You mention God then call his white children devils, because you are not white and you do not have blonde or red hair and blue or green eyes. Stop your hate. God made us all different, envy is a sin. Jesus had a lot more to say about character than hair.
It's always someone else's fault 🙄
Are you white 🐻❄️
the first human on this planet wants to look like the last human on this planet, you have hair and then you have fur🤔🤨
🤨 Insulting others is not the answer.
@@lorrilewis2178 these are facts.
@@beatsbydizzy8932 Why beat around the bush? Just say you hate white people.
Most of them want long hair but can't grow it out of the scalp. Sad most of them will buy weave before paying bills. Why? It's is fake. Be happy your are alive and healthy.
