Troika, Dance for trios, Russia Presented by the Noa-am folk dancers Yehuda Ben-Harush, Mika Yehezkeli, Gilad Tzaidi-Eden, Aviva Gafni www.dunav.org.il
We used to do the Troika dance when I used to be in "Danza" or folk dance. But i do remember doing it with a lot of energy, and the part where you do the 3 steps, we used to do them with 3 emphatic stomps lol. It could get pretty loud depending on the stage you would perform this on. I also remember my dance instructor praising me while dancing the Troika, telling me how I hit every single step on perfect count/timing, I never forget that day.
Same here, dancing with young scouts. It was always very "physic". We did not hop, we ran. 8 steps forward, 8 backward, and as many "gates" as possible. Crazy youth.
I think the audio is the same recording I know, so the rhythm has to be the same. The movements are smaller and therefore slower than I'm used to, but I think this is a teaching video, so the viewer has to be able to see the movements clearly.
This is the closest thing I can find to what I am looking for. We did this dance in high school phys ed in 1997. My teacher wheeled in a record player with a bunch of old vinyls. The one with "Troika" was from the long-gone record company Classroom Materials, and was released in 1973. That one record cannot be found online for some reason.
A wonderful demonstration, and a revelation because our Breton folk dance session in Cornwall had for years been doing a simplified version of this and calling it "Cochinchine" ( part of colonial.Vietnam) from French souces, and nobody knows why it was so called. ( See recent clip below) th-cam.com/video/3349DvjIo0A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cNLC54ZdhmKI2msL So we can pick up this standard version and see how it goes. What is the melody please ? It has a great klezmer/ hora sound, especially with the clarinet/ Accordion.
Dance for peace.
Greetings from Germany.
