- Remembered this from so long ago. This Toonami Promo was from the "Old,Old" Toonami and when I saw it, I realized today's Toonami is blown away by these. On the other hand this really makes ya think huh? Don't fear failure.
If you remember watching this as a kid LIVE, you are lucky enough to have THE BEST children's programming EVER made.
This is a year late, but, AMEN to that, Toonami was the shit man. So good.
Amen
We are so lucky.
George Perez and Hexxic,
YES. 100%.
Hey! Did you guys see the follow up Video Toonami released later?? (2016)
It's so cool they actually tributed
Hello from 2020 year of hell, we've lost kobe and even the black panther, but memories of toonami keeping 90s kids strong.
Back when I didn't worry about studying or working, the only think that made me anxious was whether or not Goku would save the world.
I feel you, Simpler times, y'know?
This is too real, man.
Fuck adulthood
hit me deep in the feels brother, damn
Me too!
"Don't fear failure."
such powerful words.
Dude toonami is back it's on adult swim every Saturday at midnight
Yet not understood till now.
I literally just wrote this on a Notecard in my room and pinned it on the wall.
"It's all as true today, as when you were 12" ~TOM, 2016
Very powerful
Now that I'm older, I realize how powerful these messages were to us. Man, Toonami was awesome! I miss these days after school....Wow, just...wow....
I miss em too man
El Hajj Malik El Nice to know I wasn't the only one watching. 😉
Don’t fear failure
Right? ...Days I wish I could go back to..
But seeing these again? Is so powerful, it feels like it...
Inspiration before we knew the meaning, Im forever grateful for this fantasy my mom allowed me to watch.
I'm offended that this doesn't have at a million views because we all know damn near everybody growing up In the Early's 2000s was watching this.
Definitely it made us into the young Adults we are now. 90’s-20’s was the golden era of anime.
@@Pawn7 that’s when anime finally hit America full wave thanks to Toonami.
Most influential commercial video of my life. "Believe in yourself and create your own destiny. Don't fear failure."
"Believe in yourself, create your own destiny. Don't fear failure." - Toonami
Most motivational, and true thing I've heard in my entire life. I remember seeing this when i was about 8 years old, and here i am now... 15 years later... still walking this same path as i was then, and barely realizing how real this thing called life is... I wont ever give up... ever.
Never. Fight until the end.
Seeing all of these positive youtube comments literally brings a tear to my eye. So glad that all of us shared this experience together at one point in our lives. Trying not to tear up writing this comment, but it just makes me sad that these days have passed by. I truley believe that Toonami had a very positive effect on my life, so thanks for the inspiration.
YES! Absolutely
This completely captures the magic of my childhood. I lived for these shows. It was a chapter in my life that i will never rewrite. Thank you Toonami...
"Are you just going to keep running away?" ..... I'm not running.. #goosebumps
What does he mean by he's not running?
Qraanberry if my memory serves me correctly. He’s father died in space, and he was always scared of going into space. Could just simply be a reference to running away from the reality of his past.
Confront your problems don’t run from them.
@@907coversdiscovers7 Ah, that definitely does make more sense. Thank you!
The moment that part came on, I started tearing up...
Powerful memories...
@@OutlandishJones really is man. It was a special time.
This makes me wana cry
I wish the whole world could feel this vibe as children and teens when Toonami was in its prime. It can't be replaced with their deep stories. It helped pave the road for my animation journey. This is something only a good number of millenials can relate to. Hopefully it can reprise its role in youths as time goes on. Or I'll help try to revive it my own way.
Toonami helped you on the path to become an animator? that's pretty awesome.
Let me know if you need help, I would love to be a part of that project. Our children need this!
words cannot describe the immense power I felt the first time I saw this video as a child . now as an adult , the feeling has not been dulled by time .
" Are you just going to keep running away?"
"Just keep running away, I'm not running."
~ this has always been stuck with me
got goose bumps right when gohan lay down man this brings back memories born in 92 here
Kids today will NEVER understand how big a deal Toonami was back in the day. Nowadays anime is everywhere, but back then, beside Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon, Toonami was one of the only places you could consistently watch it on tv.
Oh god, this was my favorite TOM speech. I remember watching this all the way through every time it played, it's so ingrained into my mind that I remembered the whole thing from the first few seconds of song. Even now I get chills from watching it--Toonami was the single greatest machine to get positive messages across.
Nowadays there are no more programs that try to improve the way kids live, act, and think; that ended when toonami's speeches ended. Makes me feel sad whenever I think of that.
AFTER ALL THESES YEARS..I STILL REMEMBER SITTING IN MY LIVING ROOM WATCHING THIS AND IT STILL GIVES ME GOOSEBUMPS TO THIS DAY AND IM 21..GOD BLESS TOONAMI FOREVER!!!!!...MY CHILDREN WILL BE SHOWN THIS
Damn time flies I feel old as hell. 89 baby over here.
I'm an 83 baby. This is the stuff I'll still remember and watch when I'm 60+

The nostalgia is crazy heavy. I wish I could jump back to my memories of those days and relive them. Simpler times and great anime.
Oh man, the nostalgic feeling is off the charts.. Simpler times..
I still come back to this.
I started my first company from this promo. I believed in myself and created my own path. Its real guys don't fear failure! Thanks Toonami! Let's get over Inertia!
This should be replayed on TV as a commercial of some kind to inspire today’s kids!!!!!
The 90s up till the early 2000s (04) was a special time. I was in middle school during that time, going through alot as a young teen. Anytime I had a bad day this would always lift my spirit. I'm 25 now. Looking back, I gotta say been in school was alot fun. Boy if I could do it all over.
Same!!! I'm the same age as you. Those was the best years & we didn't even realize it.
Yea they were the best
Same
Not too late to make the future fun
This is what the kids need to be seeing on cartoons these days. Got to have inspiring meaning.
" Believe in yourself, Don't fear Failure" damn growing up with these words was truly a motivation
These bumpers and videos they made were so powerful and inspiring. I still watch them to this day whenever I need motivation. Thank you for inspiring a generation Toonami.
I was born in 1995. A time before I knew anime was a genre. Before it became so easy to watch online through streaming services like today. Toonami was one of the few places you could watch anime. When I saw this on TV, I was immediately entranced. These shows were so dark, violent, and more visually appealing than the regular daytime cartoons. I like to think of Toonami as a rite of passage for kids.
Every now and then I come back to this and it brings a rush of inspiration and nostalgia
As a 28 year old man this breaks me down to what I was as a son without my father and the memories bleed through with a beautiful nostalgia that just cuts me to the core, as well as this being the show that dragged me into the beauty that was Toonami, what a great time to live for us.
Beautifully said
I also grew up without a father. I’m 31 now.
The ethos of characters like Goku and Spike showed me the pathway from boyhood into manhood.
Toonami and anime have had metaphysical implications on and in my life. Hell, they still do.
@@derekh3459 I hope you’re doing well
Still my favorite toonami promo. As a kid this promo used to make me think about life, which was ironic despite being only 11 years old back then. I don't care what anyone says, this will always be the most inspiring promo in the history of Cartoon Network or any kids network for that matter.
I used to love when this promo came on when I was a kid. Drop whatever I was doing.
You don't have to be a 90's kid to appreciate how powerful these shows and their messages were. I'm a '78 kid, and watched these awesome Toonami shows in my mid-late teens. They have stuck with me all this time and I often find myself coming back here to watch them and realize that my life and my outlook have been greatly affected by the messages and philosophies in these shows and shorts. They didn't sugar coat things in these shows, THAT's what made them great. Life is hard, and uncertain, and everyone must make their own way in it. Thankfully I made it, as did most of us who lived with the lessons taught by these shows.
This has shaped a generation of boys to become men. Words are as everlasting as swords, shields spears.
I believe I speak for all of us who grew up in early 2000 and watching this that, we live in the Golden age of anime. As an adult we can rewatch toonami promos and classic shows. And regrow and learn lessons that we were too young to understand.
"Don't fear Failure."
I had forgotten that. Now I can move forward.
Thank you Toonami for inspiring me, even now.
I still remember this clip from my senior year in high school 2002. If you can relate to the whispers of inspiration from our youth such as this, you are special.
Am I the only one who enjoyed this promo just as much as the actual content? Those days were a thing of beauty to folks like us.
dose anybody else feel like we were bless for having toonami at our time damn thank god i was able to be a part of it
I didnt understand this message when I was younger I remember seeing this everyday in 3rd grade and now I realize how strong the message was after seeing this and it made me think damn this is powerful, plus it makes me want to watch Outlaw Star again.
I have asperger syndrome because of shows like this it gave me the determination to get through school and get my associate in arts degree from college and allow me to be a junior for my bachelors degree.
Never stop being inspired. A lot of people end their journey before they put any effort into their true ambitions. I've seen it and its sad and in the end its just a life that will end in regret and envy. Never stop being inspired. Life happen and you'll always hear people and even yourself that tells you to stop trying. But don't stop looking for inspiration. As long as you are inspired, you have not given up in becoming what you're destined to be.
Say it louder
Toonami is my love for life and hard work.
Probably be playing this to my kids some day.
I am 36 years old and I remember this as a kid 😊😁. Good times
Damn i miss my childhood
I'm now almost 18 and just remembering and looking at these old Toonami videos tears me up inside because this is what made my childhood awesome, being in elementary school and rushing home just to watch DBZ, Gundam, Pokemon, Transformers Armada, and every other show. All I can do is thank Toonami for those memories
Here I am again. Looking at Toonami videos as I'm studying to be a better video editor. The very thing that inspired me as a kid to want to do the same thing as those that created a piece of inspiration that carried me in my childhood. As an adult, this still affects me. I will achieve my dreams because as long as I breathe, I will strive to be better than yesterday. "Believe in yourself and create your destiny. Do not fear failure."
You can do it. Step out of your comfort zone and grow. Create your art and inspire the next generation. They need it
now this takes me back. I really missed seeing this on tv.
nothing can ever replace toonami, and I'm proud to say it will remain in my my heart just like the hearts of others.
This is why i randomly listen to jazzhop and lofi.
Toonami taught me so many lessons. I wasn’t even 8 when my parents divorced and went seperate ways, also meaning letting go of the house I had spent those few years in. When they were fighting this was all I had and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I am who I am today solely because Toonami was there, those lessons never left me
As a senior about to graduate college this shit hits me even more than when i first saw it back in the fourth grade so many choices at this point its very stressful trying to figure out whats my purpose in life after the whole school system is over. Damn this is some deep shit.
+Flip.555 are you me
+Flip.555 i am in this exact position right now.
This used to get me sooooooooooooooooo pumped up back in the day. DBZ!
I specifically came looking for this, because I remember as a young guy I didn't QUITE understand the message. It didn't quite sink in...now I get it. And this video is timeless and empowering!! I'll remember it always
Tom had it right way back in '01.
Thanks toonami for introducing me to the wonders of anime. You've changed my life.
The quality of what tv use to be I would give anything to get this quality back in television.
Feels like I went back in time. Oh how time change.
Poetry, can't even begin to articulate the wisdom of words, encouragement, lesson's in these promos. Gold holds no weight or value to what was spoken in this message toonami thank you!!!
I thank God I was born in 94..though I feel old its good looking back on great times. Thanks for posting this promo ive always looked for this song as well as many other old toonami themes. Great way to start the new year.
Born in 87, you remember when Toonami played Ronin Warriors? :P
Legato Bluesummers Honestly the name didnt pop in my head, but I watched promos of it recently and the things they said it in jogged my memory. Its hard because I think I was born late in the game for that fully
RaginDXDemon I was born in 94 too, this gives me pure nostalgia..I wish I could go back in time now. I don't even know the garbage kids have to watch now. I'm from Canada so I only got to watch cartoon network when I visited my uncle in the states, but toonami and adult swim was all I watched...so beautiful
brownpure If you dont know the garbage kids are watching, dear God in heaven please keep it that way. Dont do it to yourself because you will find yourself back here wishing to go back in time more.
RaginDXDemon
I could not agree with you more, your absolutely right man! I was born in 89, and saw every piece of Toonami, and damn it changed the minds of the children who saw it. It was pretty much a movement! I remember Ronin Warriror, and the Inferno suit! Do you remember robotech and reboot?
This is how you give a kid hopes and dreams and ambitions to gun for them. Whoever thought to show this to kids really leveled with them and knew what they needed to hear sometimes
I remember I used to stop everything I was doing when these came on and just give my full attention to my TV for those two minutes.
So nostalgic, 35yrs old. Everyday after school turned on the tv and watched toonami was amazing. Now watching this so inspiring and powerful. Great memories and started to love anime.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?" "Why was I made? Who made me and what did they make me for?"
You gotta realize these questions were asked to kids ages six and older. Our cartoons were posing profound philosophical questions to us before we even knew how to ride a two wheel bike. Objectively we had the greatest cartoons of any generation before us.
It's time, my fellow watchers. Toonami was our reason to atay up all night to watch obscure cartoons. It took us to the stars, distant planets, inside the mind of brave men fighting for a future. My fellow adventures, Toonami needs us. It is our time to help the T.O.M. The robot who taught us our values. Even if it has the slightest of chance of coming back, we must scream at the top of our lungs to bring it back. *on knees* we need Toonami more than ever. Scream, youtube, Let us be heard.
the old toonami understood the purpose of shounen series...
As a kid, I loved these vids
These were so much more profound than I remember.
Toonami was so incredibly awesome back then.
Thank you for posting! :-)
I just turned 30 a few months back found this again after almost two decades. Looking back, I hope that optimistic 90’s kids would be proud of the man we became.
1990 born, So lucky to have grown up in the age I did really, (Firstly, the age of internet) but mostly Toonami man, That was so good.
I cried while watching this.
Like, I freaking SOBBED.
My childhood just flew up and away with the Outlaw Star.
I miss Toonami. T_T
This Saturday, well really this Sunday, at 12:00AM Toonami comes back. Be sure to tune in!
I am thankful that I can look back at this now. It reminds me of how far I came into this world and I cant turn back now. I finally realize that I can no longer run away and fear failure. He is right, I must create my own destiny and truly believe in myself and never fear failure. I am amazed that after all these years, I understand this, this message, and it is truly inspirational. I hope this will live in my heart always and others that has been touched by this clip.
Wow, Now I'm a man. And I'll never be a boy again. I wonder how many years it's been since I first saw this video on toonami...
The feels are unbelievable *cries in nostalgia*
I'm here for the comments. It's safe to say we're all feeling some type of way. My fellow toonami brothers, sisters... I love you all. 🙏✨🖤🤙 #Nostalgia
Oh man, this brings back memories. So many blissful nights of entertainment...it was more than the cartoons, it was the overall package, the promos and commercial bumps. I wish it could come back.
FUCK. And now i need to watch Outlaw Star again.
+VideoGameLover58 Outlaw Star and YuYu Hakusho. The classics.
+Dezmonsta I think that was 2003, don't quote me on that
I also grew up around Toonami, even if i didn't understand what it was until a few years into the program. it has also been a good part of my childhood and i've been with it up until it ended in 2008. I am 20 now and even so, this has always been my favorite promo; i have an mp3 version of it and honestly, if i'm in the mood for it, i could play it for an hour and never get tired of it; it's like a song you grow up around; you just never get tired of listening to it when you're in the mood to
Anybody here in 2020 👀
Oh my god, I remember sitting on my grandmothers couch in her bedroom watching this all summer long. I saw this commercial at least 500 times.
Just finished outlaw star…. Fucking awesome
Hell yeah
Tears run down my face not because I am sad, but because these words. I once could watch on TV as a kid, I thought nothing of, but now I understand and these tears are represent that my time has come to do something in this world. I must stop running away and complete my dreams complete my destiny open my eyes up to this road of endless possibilities and start by not fearing failure but face it with courage
Wow. haven't seen this in years. I'm almost 25 now.
I miss the good old days of coming home to watch Toonami.
this really was an epic comercial. its rare when u look forward to seeing a 2min comercial. i miss the old times, coming home to watch toonami.
Our childhoods was awesome
One of the most influential videos of my lifetime. Sometimes I come back to watch it to give me motivation
This video is so powerful to me, I remember watching it when I was young. I still walk this journey and I refuse to give up, I make my own destiny
, and won't stop until I die....
this was my favourite promo growing up
They would sometimes play these same commecials every other commercial break, to the point where it just became a kind of "white noise" that let me know Toonami was on. I came home with commericals like this already playing on the tv every day for years, hearing it now makes me remember the sight, the smell, and feel of houses I haven't lived in for years. *Sniff* Goodbye childhood.
I agree. These were some of the greatest moments of my childhood. I would be watching Toonami forever.
I've spent the last 30 minutes watching these old videos, and this is the one I was particularly searching for. Just fantastic stuff. I'm 26 now and all of this is firmly implanted into my brain for life. As I said in another post.... these were the good days.
I learned a lot back then, from some of these shows. I feel I got a little guidance and they helped me become who I am today.
The after school rec center i used to go to when i was 7-11 years old would put on toonami in the TV room after the girls were done watching boy meets world on Disney channel.
The boys in the after school program were animals but the only time we were all civilized was when DBZ/toonami in general came on.
It was truly the best feeling being in a room full of kids all losing our minds over how Gohan disintegrated Cell.
"A boy has the right to dream."
First line unlocks a core memory for me, from that line forward I remembered every line of dialogue from this promo.
man this takes me back to the time were, the shows were badass with their egdey looks, cool attitudes, and stories that we wish to live and have their adventure to be ours.
Toonami Rest In Peace old Friend.
"I'm not running" best shit ever
Overwhelming nostalgia watching this. And so therapeutic. Wow. Just been watching this on repeat for 30 min
I remember when I came home from school and sit right in front of the tv every day because I look forward to Toonami and its programming. It made my childhood memorable. I still surf youtube to watch all the shows I grew up with. G Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam, Outlaw Star, DBZ, Blue Sub No.6, Big O, Neon Genesis Evangelion and all the others. I miss you toonami!
