    The only thing I would change is the mounting of the flag on the wall. If the battery dies you can't get in it. Mount it so you can get to the back so you can get in. By removing the screws on the back. Awesome build !!!

    Very clean build and well described video. I like the lock system. Far better than the mag lock.
    Being an electrician, I may wire mine if I build one and have an outlet behind the flag in order to install led lighting I don't have to charge as well as a alarm on it connected to my home security. That way unless I deactivate the alarm, it will automatically alert my alarm company to send police so I can concentrate on neutralizing the threat.

    Crown molding around lid would be nice. It would look like the flag was picture framed in and you wouldn't notice it opens up. Just a suggestion...

    What size bit do you use for the stars, typically i use a 90 V Bit , but for larger flags. I was thinking a 60 V Bit?

    Great job! The downside is if you don’t have an NC cutter for the stars. There are other options to do it by hand! I am going to fab a couple for my son and son in law! I might make three so I can keep one.. 👍🏼 again great job!

    My wood shop teacher is rolling over in his grave. The crossed arm move you did cutting the stripes on radial arm saw would have gotten you a fail on the safety check. Besides that, just so you don't think I'm trolling here, I loved this video and this project is awesome! Really well done on both flag and video content. Thanks!

    Seems that lid would warp without reinforced backers. When I've made just that sized flag and left it without a backers. They've warped in as little as 30 minutes

      The term is either Veteran or Retired Military. "Ex-military" is for people who got Dishonorable discharged

      Yep! There is a cord sticking out of the top.

    When connecting your stripes together you mention gluing them together. That part is completed pretty quickly in your video. Do you glue and just clamp them or do you also Kreg screw them together? Awesome teaching video. Thank you

      Thanks a bunch Andy! I’d use a kreg and glue if you have one. However, if you don’t you can clamp for 30 and that way you can adjust the face completely flush while it dries. I’d recommend option two if you’re doing one at a time.

    How did you attach the stripes to each other. I assume you used glue and clamped them but I don’t see that being very sturdy.

      Wood glue if clamped and applied properly is actually incredibly strong. It would be fine if used in this way since there is no force applied to the individual pieces.

      Just swap your stop to the left side and then you won't have the arm crossing issue.

    Thank you for doing this video. I made one of these this past weekend for a buddy’s birthday and he absolutely loved it. I had to watch the video at least 15 times when it came time to adding the hinges because I noticed the top of the box was thicker than the rest. I added a half inch piece and it worked out great. I was very impressed with this build. Thanks again for all the detail.

    What router bit did you use to router the stars? It’s really crisp and clean! My wife and I currently have a CNC machine and make flags but the bit we use doesn’t do that good of job
