  • Today switched the Calverton Spur and Paraco Gas in Riverhead. Caught a couple of passenger trains too. A super fun day!!!!!!!!! My apologies. I was confusing Paraco Gas with Amerigas. My bad!!!!

    Love the livery colors, 261 has a nasty tick.

    An excellent example of railfanning 'with purpose' - providing content that is thoroughly interesting and enjoyable. Tells a great story.

    I've spent many of my almost 27 years living very close to LIRR tracks, yet I've never once seen a NYA train pass by, nor have I seen one whilst riding the LIRR myself. Very cool!

    The 270 looks sharp with the new lettering for its number boards. Looks a lot like how it used to when the locomotives were brand new

    From Wisconsin, I’m a new fan of your channel and the NY&A with their mix of clean PR and vintage EMD power. I’ve never been to Long Island and I enjoy seeing the sights along the line. Is that the Pine Barrens area where the fence company was being switched? And is there a story about the cabooses near Paraco Gas (at about 20:22 of the vid)? Thanks for the interesting production!

    • @3985uprr
      @3985uprr  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that is the pine barrens. The caboose has had recently been moved to a museum in nearby Riverhead.

    Nice chase! I am trying to put together a list of NYAR jobs. I don't know if I got the accurate descriptions though, as far as you know, did I?
    RS40: Works all customers on the Montauk Branch, the Hicksville Team Yard, all Port Jefferson Branch customers, and the Central Branch as needed.
    RS50: Fresh Pond to Pine Aire, nighttime job.
    RS60: Pine Aire local, does all work around there as well as some trips to Fresh Pond.
    RS70: Fresh Pond to Yaphank, midday/afternoon
    RS80: Fresh Pond eastbound at night, switches Coastal Container in Farmingdale, Combined Container and Amerigas in Wyandanch, and the Central Branch as needed.

      The 50 runs light from Pine aire to Coastal in Farmingdale, picks up the loads and runs to Fresh Pond. Qfter picking up the cars at Fresh Pond, it runs back to Pine Aire.
      The RS81 runs from Fresh Pond to Coastal with empties for coastal, then runs light to Pine Aire, picks up cars and runs mixed back to Pine Aire
      Amerigas in Wyandanch has not been served since like 2005 and Island Container in Wyandanch hasnt seen cars since 2016ish

    Do they run out to Eastern Fence regularly or is it still an as needed thing? I'd love to follow them out here and to Riverhead one day, but don't know how often they make this run. Awesome content, by the way!
