Goddam I loved the Colbert Report though. Some of the best written political comedy ever. The stuff he did on super PACs was incredibly informative. He was so fantastic at playing that character. I like Colbert a lot as a late-night host, but I think the Colbert Report was incredibly special. In the somewhat brief window where the Comedy Central website worked in New Zealand, I thought the Colbert Report was consistently better than the Daily Show when I was watching both.

I really love this song. It really speaks to me. I love the abstractness and generality of the focus and the depiction of the profound disconnect that people experience from having no feelings at all about the abstract and general patterns that subsume all life.

I honestly can't think of any reason except for copyright/request from owner or censorship because of the lyrics.

Don't know! I can recall how they also took down his masterful performance of "Bored in the USA" from the Letterman YT channel, before that iteration of The Late Show even went off the air. It could be that FJM actively requests they pull it down, as he is pretty mercurial about these things. Or it could be a more complicated issue of music rights/ASCAP licensing, etc. I can't say for certain; my knowledge of IP law isn't great.

Minimum wage goes up, profit margins have to be maintained in order to keep the doors open unless you’re in some niche sector with absolutely insane profit margins (ie pharmaceuticals) , cost of goods correct and offset the increased wage costs, inflation stacks, and before you know it you’re right back where you started.
You can see that Colbert genuinely believes in this. How have we gotten here?
