Splitting elm is like splitting giant cable! It sucks! Good work!

Thanks Chris! Imagine if you got a whole log load of elm! Lol. That would never happen.

Logan just be careful off the exhaust fumes from the splitter.

Yep, I always remove a roof panel above where the exhaust is

Remember, videos should be INCREDIBLY steady. Pan and zoom slowwwwww.
While it seems like you're adding a new view for us, holding the camera and moving it around makes the video terribly difficult to watch. Thanks for your time!!!

Red elm splits fairly easy compared to other elm

You may want to reconsider putting doors on the shelter and enclosing that gasoline engine in aa closed space. Many people have died from running generators in their homes during power outages. A house is a lot larger than your shelter and the CO got to high enough concentrations to be lethal. I do like the idea of being under a roof to be able to work when it is raining or snowing. Keep building the inventory. You have some great looking firewood. Not being critical...just the concerned firefighter/EMS responder side of me coming out.

The roof it retractable, I take a sheet of aluminum off the roof when I split. Also doors will both be open when I split to ensure nothing happens.

Login next time your trailer is empty do yourself a favor. Inspect all your welds on the underside of that trailer. The tung welds at the end under the trailer give up. Great hall if it does not destroy the trailer. Keep up the good work.

Nice shelter for splitting wood, holes in pallets should get rid of exhaust.

Hi Logan! Don’t see much elm in these pets anymore. That is quite a honey hole of dry wood. Love the pallet shack. That will be hand when the snows come. Take care! WST

Thanks Mike, when the elm is gone then I can get the red oak and cherry that’s in there!

My recent experience: Most pieces of green elm 12" and under are annoying, with a few borderline for my 25 ton splitter. Big 24" pieces with twists or defects are a MAJOR headache and take a lot of moving around to get them split. Great video, sir!

That was red elm, just wait till I split the non rotten American elm.

The barkless stuff didn't look too bad! Made the splitter grunt a time or two, but any wood can do that. Never had red elm- or even seen it. The btu charts show it being significantly denser and with more btu's than American elm. (which is the stuff everyone loves to hate)
It isn't gnarly until it comes off the splitter looking like a pile of chicken someone shredded for tacos, lol.

Good to know! I thought red elm was lower btu but that was just a guess. The taco shreds are soon to come, I split of some green non dry elm for a video and it was gnaaaarly.
