Hey, hair twin! My hair is experiencing everything you mentioned! I am in love with grease now. After having 5 kids, my hair was lacking so many nutrients and was thinning out. Getting to waist length, but thinning out. Now, I have started using grease too in combination with a leave in (ignoring my poor shea butter on the shelf for once), and it has totally regained thickness and softness! I am so thrilled with how it's been flourishing lately... i shall keep this up! I also use my JBCO home blend and a scalp massager in the shower and that's pretty much it. :)

@Trinity M Actually, water molecules can technically penetrate grease, but not to the effectiveness needed if someone were to use grease and then apply water. Not much water would be allowed through. It is only useful if water is already beneath grease and can act as a "reactivator".
Along with that, grease seals in the water and the water gets absorbed by the hair follicle while grease doesn't allow for much of it to evaporate, therefore the hair does actually stay moisturized for a longer period of time! This person said no wrong

One of my clients died last year and when I went to visit her at a rehab, she had blue magic and I decided to step outside my professional social worker role and braid her hair up with it. I was surprised at how soft it made her hair feel so I decided to buy myself a jar of the green blue magic. June, I was using flaxseed oil but when I smelled it spoiled and unfortunately I had just washed my hair and applied the spoiled oil, I rewashed and realized I had nothing else in the house but the grease. I love wearing my hair in stretched two strand twists in a ponytail these days. Went to a theme park July 4th and got rained on but my twists DID NOT shrink!

I did a second big chop ( like it was a faded cut) lower than my first big chop and my hair at the year mark was longer than it was on the first year of the first one. I went to a simple hair care less products went back to the basics. I let go of everything else and went to my hair grease and yes I grease my scalp too! Grease is the G.O.A. T for me I don't care what anyone says.

Totally agree! I maybe have 1 or 2 go to leave ins OR my DIY flaxseed gel leave in & follow it up with grease and my high porosity hair has been holding onto moisture a lot longer. Sealing with oil does nothing for me unless it’s a thick oil like castor oil. Definitely team grease ✨

Been using grease this past year and a half and it’s been so amazing. LCO with Shea Moisture spritz + Camille Rose Curlaid + Blue Magic = moisture for 1week and a half …plus that. Planning on using pink lotion soon.
Ohh with washing grease out 1part ACV, 1 part Sunflower or Hemp seed oil, 2-3parts water then add some essential oils. I do this before I prepoo (half the time this is my prepoo) and leave it while I prepoo. Double cleanse with moisturizing shampoo and or African black soap. Takes most of the grease out if not all.

I haven’t used that kind of grease since I was a kid. I always liked the smell though.
My hair has grown so much during the pandemic. All I did was kept it moisturized and twisted. I switched off between any leave in conditioner I had, mixed with pure coconut oil from Costco or Africa’s Best Herbal Oil from Target. I always hear “keep it moisturized” but that’s so hard to do when you’re a busy person. I love just throwing up a quick bun. That’s not good though. You have to make your hair a priority. Thx for sharing empress!
