  • hey guys! so this is the very highly requested staff orientation video! I never really filmed a video going into orientation in much detail so hopefully this helps you out with getting an idea on what staff orientation at camp might look like!
    lots of love xoxo

    Thank you for this video! I am a recording music teacher at a camp this summer, and because I’m a little older, me being 26, they also want me to be head of female presenting staff, even though I’ve never gone to camp before! They’re gonna have me do an entire three week orientation, where I live there, and also get paid. One week before everyone else, and then I’ll be helping with the next two week orientation. So excited, and this video helps a lot!

    Tyler Hill sounds like one of the nicest camps to work at. I was at a YMCA in New Jersey and defintley had a different experience to what you describe! Deffo felt like I was plunged into the deep end but this place sounds like a dream!

      Omg honestly it’s the best I love it!! Every camp will be ran slightly differently and each experience will be different!

    This was so interesting to watch and compare to my experience! We don’t have an unpacking day as the kids do it themselves when they arrive. Maybe my camp is a bit different cus the kids only stay for 2 week sessions and then we get a new group of kids!

      Ahhh no way! Yeah it’s crazy how different camps can be!

      Ours only does one week sessions! It’s pretty rare, but sometimes a kid will stay for multiple sessions.

    hey! I noticed in some of the photos from camp for themed events [for example you had a blue jersey in one of your photos], did you bring all the outfits with you or did you get stuff at camp? I don't really own any crazy colours or anything that I think would suit themed outfits, so I wasn't sure if its something I should prepare for

      do you recommend planning travel after camp your first year or to wait until you get to camp?

    • @victoriawhitehouse704
      @victoriawhitehouse704  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I bought quite a few bits with me but you end up buying stuff there if you need! The callers and other counsellors bring a lot of stuff too!

    Not exactly related to orientation, but I'm going to camp for the first time this summer and I was wondering if you are usually allowed to set alarms on your phone to wake up in the morning? As I can't get up without an alarm haha

    • @victoriawhitehouse704
      @victoriawhitehouse704  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hahaha yes you can set an alarm, if you have the younger kids you’ll find they’ll wake you up anyway!

    Tyler Hill sounds amazing and would be in my top three camps I would love to work at when I do camp America!! As a first time applicant would you recommend me applying directly to Tyler Hill through emailing them my CA application or through there application processes?? Or would I just tell CA that I'm interested in working at Tyler Hill and hope for the best🤔

    • @jackstokes7836
      @jackstokes7836 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i'm with CA and applied directly to tyler hill through their website, filled out a application form for it and i'm going next year

    • @victoriawhitehouse704
      @victoriawhitehouse704  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s completely up to you! I would recommend applying direct as it’s a quicker process! However we are virtually fully staffed for next year already, drop me a message on insta and I’ll see if we have an opening for you!
