Zero to a hundred is where it's at anyway for a sporty. Commuting, around town and backroads are where I ride mine. It rides fine on highway when I flow with traffic and travel between 60-80. I didn't buy it to go on long rides or ride it like I used to ride my big sportbikes. I bought it because it's fun and easy to ride. They sound good like An old hot rod. One thing I think you missed talking about. You can buy a used 883 for about $6000. Use it to learn to ride, then after a year out the stage four kit in it and be around $10;000. That is less than anything in the softail family. Even used.

Awesome bike. We love Sportsters. The Harley bolt-on kits are nice, and turn-key, and can be done brand new. But it has to be said... more than any other Harley.... the aftermarket build kits give significantly better performance. You can easily triple stock HP, and double torque. No HD engine is better understood than the Sportster, after being around so long. Thus, performance companies truly perfected the upgrades. Just make sure you work with a great shop. And if you're pursuing such a build, and spending money accordingly, obsessing over warranty is a waste of time. Know your focus: If you're making a performance bike, go all out. If you're running a daily rider, don't build it up at all. Something in between? That's perhaps the target for an HD "stage" kit. Thanks for the video. I love seeing what people dream up.
That light weight of a bike with that upgrade in an engine is just trouble waiting to happen...speeding tickets. That exhaust is musical! My neighbors would hate it.
Matt. Nice video. But what about the vibration? Doesn't the added power make it shake like crazy? I have a 2014 883 and at high speeds it does want to throw you off. So you have to be very careful and concentrate 100%. No slacking.
You do have to concentrate at higher speeds. I kinda mentioned that in the video. With the cam in this bike though the engine is smoother at higher RPM and speeds. I really didn't feel any additional vibration at all.
Nice bike, If I owned a 883 I would definitely strive for a custom build like this one. I understand the limitations of this chassis, but it sure looks fun. Thanks for the video I have watched it several times.

Sweet bike, but I would've worked with a 1200cc instead. A two into one exhaust for the torque curve and a tuner. I think stock 1200 make 70ish hp from the factory. Seeing how much you twisted that throttle almost all the way open on the freeway, you could've hit 115mph with a 1200. But overall, its a pretty sweet looking bike.
nah, the 883 is a better looking bike than the 1200 in my oppinion. and the an 883 with the 1200 conversion kit accelaerates faster than the stock 1200 cuz of the 883's gearing.

That is a great looking bike. Just wondering how hard it is to see the speedo after relocating it. Maybe it was just the video, but it looks like the controls on the bars needed to roll forward a bit. I also think the mirrors would look better mounted below.
matt to be honest with you about touring here in Asia a 125cc scooter can longrides for 3 days going country side with no problem at all maybe in America HD 883 is under power but for me is more than good enough . if harleys are making like 400 cc below I think their market will go higher specially in Asian countrys
Hello, i really am in love with the sportster design, especially the iron 883, but i also like street rod And street bob. Which one in your opinion Is the most capable of just cruising as well as speeding, enjoying highways And cornering, if i can ask? I mean like...which of these bikes Is somehow very good at doing both? And please, if you could tell it with knowledge, that i am about 190 centimetres tall And my weight Is 84 kilograms. Sorry for bothering with such Complex question, and thanks for any answer.
Hi Matt, I'm thinking of picking up a sporty for every day in town bike. Can you tell me approximately what a stage 4 kit costs, installed? The style of this build isn't for me, to each his own, but that engine is right up my alley so to speak. Very nice. thanks a be safe.
I talk about this a little in the video. The stage 4 installed is about 4,000 give or take depending on your intake and exhaust choice. The stage 4 doesn't technically include those items but you gotta have them so I usually include them into the price. Again, this is a ball park with labor and taxes included. That's everything.
Hey Matt, hope all is well. Awesome videos and your builds are crazy. Hopping next year or end of this year when the 2022 low rider ST is available I am hoping to buy one. Wanted to run something threw you and get some feedback. Have an 03 Sportster 1200 custom 💯, with Vance and Hines short shots, high flow breather, carb set up 48 idle, 185 main jet, 3 shims on needle and 1 3/4 turns on mixture screw. I want to simply upgrade the cams and nothing else. Going to install the Andrews N4 as they can be used with stock configuration. What would you recommend I update on the carburetor? Was thinking of a 195 main jet and open the fuel screw to 2 maybe 2 1/2 turns. Any advice I would greatly appreciated.
I’d get the recommendation from the company that makes the cam. Carburetors are guess and check my friend. I personally am not the best guy to ask this question to. I’m not a technician.
Thank you for this video and breaking down the pros and cons vs the softail line. I've been racking my brain trying to decide if an engine upgrade would satisfy my needs. Looks like I gotta save towards that street bob...
That thing is so sick. I’ve had my 2020 iron 1200 for over a year now and I’m currently itching to start changing things up on it. (Bars, exhaust, short fender, etc.). Shooting for something like this. If you can find out where your buddy got those bars from that’d be sweet!
HD needs to bring back the XR1200. I have an 09 with a cam and its fun as hell to ride. Not for touring but to rip around its a blast. Also they should bring back a basic FXR and start to move toward a better performance line, that'll save the company in the long run.
Matt can please tell me the torque and power figures for this bike please

Yes, the speedo was less convenient to see "on the fly" but it wasn't too bad if you wanted to glance at it real quick.
The fact that they won’t put a 6th gear on this bike keeps me from pulling the trigger and getting it. Ugh! That thing is so badass!
Matt great video man and great bike. The 883 is so growing on me! They are so customizable. Gonna definitely get one. Cheers!
Omg yes!
matt to be honest with you about touring here in Asia a 125cc scooter can longrides for 3 days going country side with no problem at all maybe in America HD 883 is under power but for me is more than good enough . if harleys are making like 400 cc below I think their market will go higher specially in Asian countrys
Enjoyed very much of this mean bike!
I used to have a bad ass built up sporster
Loved it and I’m 6’ 4”
Do you get headache with this loud noise after 30 minutes? I use earplugs when riding mine.
Hey Matt! nice video. I got a question, I got a 2015 Harley 48 and I was wondering what would be the safe rpm on this bike?
FUK YEAH MAN!! SPORTSTER RULE!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
What mic do you use to record the sound on your go pro footage, sounds fantastic!
Nice video, he's done a great job on the bike. He should be proud of it☮️
HD needs to bring back the XR1200. I have an 09 with a cam and its fun as hell to ride. Not for touring but to rip around its a blast. Also they should bring back a basic FXR and start to move toward a better performance line, that'll save the company in the long run.
Love this Bike. Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like the clutch is slipping or it's your shifting.
I love my 1200 for city riding and some tight mountain curves.
A couple times I let the clutch out too slow. It isn’t slipping.
