@@maybrad5260 I have 2 kids that love me more than anyone can imagine. And they can be brats too. Zoey steals my spot in bed EVERY chance she gets. And Zeus won't hesitate to steal any meat right from my mouth if I let him get close enough. And both will steal my dinner if I turn my back for a minute. But I think Zeus would chew a guy up for hurting me, probably Zoey too. And Zoey is always next to me, trying to kiss me, or even holding my hand. Aside from the fact that I am too old to adopt, why would I want a 2 legged brat? Also, there are many more deserving pets in need of loving homes too. Sure, kids are deserving - while they are kids. But its a roll of the dice whether or not you get any love or respect back.

This whole rescue was jaw-dropping, from start to finish! This beautiful dog was in big trouble: not only had she stepped into a cruel trap, but, also, after having lived by her wits for a year, she no longer trusted people. Even Eldad and Loreta, along with a crew of volunteers, had a hard time catching her: it was a heart-stopping moment! From that minute onward, it was an action-packed story, ending with the vet in L.A., Dr. Olds, saving her foot and her leg.

If there is a way I can occasionally donate I'd be happy to but due to my finances i can't donate on a monthly basis. I'm glad you are able to do so. Update on 3 year old post: I did find a way to give non-monthly and so I donate whenever I am able to. Sometimes I can even donate every month for a time.

I would know because when two stray dogs came to my yard i beg my mother to keep it,when i saw them they looked like they were about to die die so i gave them food .And so they soon became part of my family and they lived with me for 5 years til one died from poison she was my favorite,that was the saddest day of my life because i love my pets as much as my family

Clay Peak it’s the trap themselves that are cruel. They are known to break animals bones and tear skin where they can bleed out. So yes they are cruel. What part isn’t cruel to you?
Alright listen, I don’t know what retarded kind of research you did, but MOST traps made since 1950 don’t even CUT TO THE BONE, in fact, a lot of the traps I use don’t even BREAK SKIN.
This dog is in and offset-jaws trap, witch means this trap is SPECIFICALLY MADE so that your dog doesn’t get hurt if he steps in it, “HERMIONE” isn’t bleeding out or she’d have been dead days ago, the only pain she’s in is the extra weight of lugging the trap around. Who I REALLY sympathize for is the poor guy who lost his $40 trap to this stray on his property

You might not understand biology but it is not normal in animals for bones and cartilage to be hanging out after experiencing a non painful injury. clearly the dog was hurt by this trap which disproves your claim that they are "SPECIFICALLY MADE so that your dog doesn’t get hurt if he steps in it". maybe you should walk around for a week with one of these clamped on your hand and let me know if you get hurt or not. you may be using traps that don't break skin but clearly that is not what this trap is since clearly the skin is broken, and clearly it cut down to the bone. but clearly you did not watch the video or you would not have made those claims.

It's like if you have a dog, (im using that as an example). If another animal was going after your dog would you place down the only trap you have to save the dog or not put it down and do nothing about it?

They can’t - the music they use for their videos is copyrighted so they’re not allowed to earn money on the videos. It’s explained in the video description :) it’s why they rely so heavily on donations! It would be amazing if someone who produced music would create music for HopeForPaws to use and be non-copyright/for the use of their videos only, so they can earn ad revenue off the videos but still have good music that will keep people watching the videos

AnnemieM Very much so. A 6 pack of those traps costs about $50. FIFTY DOLLARS. That's how much it costs for a trap that can cause immense suffering with no legal punishments.
I think traps should not be banned
However the owners may be punished for leaving their pet (dog ) alone they should add contracts so that if someone tries to abandon a dog he/she may be charged with fine or punishment
There are humane traps..NO animal should be subjected to torture me, no matter the reason!!
These animals, like this dog, are usually dumped, discarded like trash, so they are the ones most likely to come across such barbaric situations. Not someone's loved pet. It's very very minimal that the ones who did the dumping, are found..so, just get rid of the traps!!

They may still be legal because no one realizes there are people who still use them. I'm country and we live trap everything. I had no idea these old things were still in use. Perhaps those rescuers down south could work to get them banished for good, at least in their state.
These traps are completely human live traps. This was just a bad accident. These traps are designed to hold an animal, not inflict pain or to hurt the animal. This dog had it's foot in the trap for a week, that's what caused that wound.
Put a tight rubber band around your pinky for a week and your pinky will get a nasty wound. The rubber band itself is not dangerous or painful, only when it's on for an extended time.

Pandora Capshaw Yes they will, but shelter dogs need homes and often live in terrible conditions. Sometimes it’s even a matter between life and death for them, since their lives can be so depressing. You can totally get a breeder dog if you want, but they’re more expensive, more prone to getting ill, and the whole purpose of “adopt don’t shop” is to discourage breeders because all they want to do is profit off of inbred dogs when there are already shelter dogs that are in desperate need of a family.

Every time I watch Hope for Paws video, I can't help but cry. I have a heart for dogs. That's why on my birthday tis week I created a fundraiser for Hope for Paws. I still have one more week to go. So far I have raised $620. And I'm still waiting for another $170 in check. And I will also personally donate to add to this amount. This money is nothing compared to what these people are doing everyday to save the lives of this wonderful creatures who give us love and loyalty. I'm just dying to hug them.

The cruelty of that type of trap is beyond comprehension. Eldad and Loretta truly have hearts of gold. I could not believe that trap on Hermione’s foot..could not believe what I was seeing. The joy of how this story ended was so strong, I wanted so much to hug and kiss the dog, I am so glad that Loretta does. Hearts of gold, pure gold.

My mom's big pitbull Duchess got caught in one of these infernal things. Thankfully she was only 1/2 mile from our house and we could hear her screaming for us. She was in the trap for probably 2 hrs. It was one of the old ones that didn't have the rubber covering on the jaws like this one had. Duchie ended up with a scar but was ok. We found 5 others set and pulled them out of the ground. I destroyed them with an oxygen/acetylene torch and when my brother found out who set them, he beat the shit out of the trapper!

These people are beyond awesome. I'm a young 10 year old that would love to donate about $20, but I don't have money, but I'll try 'n beg my dad. I just wanted to say, I have a cute playful puppy myself, and he was at the beach and he got sucked in by the waves, and he kept getting pulled back, and I saw him and I ran Olympic style, swam out to sea, and grabbed him, managing to swim back. He's safe now.
I'd say the best thing you can do is start young in being proactive about causes! Ask your parents to help you get involved with volunteering at shelters and finding other ways to help create change. You can make a real difference.
A hero right here! My dog died because he was bitten in his front left foot by a red back spider (black widow, but red back because I’m in Australia) they are usually not deadly to dogs but excruciating pain is caused. His front left paw was so weak even before the bite he had to sit down for an hour every half hour. When he was bitten...he died.

Everyone we have ourselves a hero that made this comment :) I myself have had an experience like this when I got my little puppy and when in the woods. I was running around with him and a log fell on his back leg. It ended up that he broke every bone in the bottom part of his leg and a couple at the top. I never noticed because he was so small and I searched for an hour without any luck. When I was about to give up I hear a cry for help that sounded like a pup. I ran towards the cry's and saw him laying down and not moving except crying for help. He ended up almost dying because after we got him to the vet he wasn't awake and they couldn't wake him up. He ended up surviving because I got the logoff but I doubted myself and my strength and thought I could never do it. After I did it I was surprised and couldn't believe what I just did. After this experience, I know now that you should never doubt yourself, that you can always do it and to never give up. And that we all can make a change in somethings life. Through thick and thin. :) Have a great day.

I have been watching Hermione's story since the beginning. This little angel has been through so much. And you guys really committed fully to making sure she had her happy, healthy ending. The thing that always amazes me is how dogs bounce back and learn to love and trust again. How do they do this? How do they keep giving us more than we deserve?

Imagine the relief when that trap was removed. I am a Vietnam Vet and almost lost my left arm to a wound. I was told to sign a form allowing the removal because the wound was really bad. I refused but was advised if it was necessary .Well that was back in 1969 and I still have a usable left arm thanks to some wonderful doctors and medical staff. Thank all of you and thank all you folks here today.

I know that she was in a lot of pain! My daddy was a trapper and had steel traps and I know that they are really strong and bad! I am glad that she was saved from that nasty thing!
