Was wondering if you could post a bass cover for Canadian artist Kim Mitchell and the tune "Go For Soda" BTW, I'm 63 years old and still jam nightly on my LADO bass guitar through a 1980's Peavey Bass Amp.
Yes, a bit overwhelming at first for sure. I had to learn this song for a fast approaching gig and this video was a lifesaver. I broke it down into 3 parts (intro, verse, chorus). From this video I took the basic structure of each part and simplified it. That got me through the gig....and no one even noticed the stuff I left out. Since then I've returned to this clip every few days and learned a little more of the passing notes and I'm happy to say I can *almost* play the whole song correctly. Take small bites and don't give up!
I never noticed how awesome the bassline in this song is...dude, you are so awesome. I love sublime.. I am so grateful for the work that you put into all of this.
this is why i love your channel. as a advanced muscian i can just look up and you play at regular speed. not step by step. the band says lets play santeria. i dont have to go through crap. just see how its played with the flowing tabs.
I think I've watched five or six of your videos now and finally broke down and became a patron. Thanks for all these videos, it's been really helpful for me.
I use CoverSoultions from time to time as a sort of quick crutch when I don't have time to work out all the parts on my own. And I just want to say thanks for putting the tabs and chords up on the top of the of the video where they don't get covered by that little red line and all the control icons.
Really really excellent work. I was able to learn this song on piano quickly because of how on point this was, and the bass line seems to be exactly to the track. The only issue I had was that the D#m chords are actually B/D#. Again, great content
I'm trying to learn this song... I'm getting the basic of it down, the hard part is remembering the slight differences in some measures and which one to use when. Thanks for the video, appreciate it!
por favor, hace covers de todas las canciones que existen en el universo. Cada vez que busco un tema para aprender y estas vos se que lo voy a hacer bien. Gracias!!!
Wish you could here the bass line better in the original song, I prefer to listen to your cover of this anytime I wanna listen to this song. That just proves how good of a bass line this is
It's been a while since your last video, so it's cool to see you back man. Anyways, for suggestions, here are 5 I would like to see in the future 1: The Real Me (The Who) 2: Sympathy For the Devil (The Rolling Stones) 3: St. Jimmy (Green Day) 4: Guns of Brixton (The Clash) 5: God of Thunder (KISS)
Actually he's playing exactly whats recorded, if you listen closer with quality headphones you can pick up more of the bass line. I also was surprised when I discovered how much is going on with the bass part, but it's been there the whole time, just buried in the mix a bit
This and the Duran Duran Rio are very well done! I've played various guitar styles: Jazz, Country, Metal, Classical: Pedal steel guitar, the banjo, but just got a bass at a yard sale and having too much fun.
Thanks so much for these videos. All for free! Do you receive any compensation other than love? Seriously, sharing this kinda stuff is legitimate charity man. Keep up the good work.
really love this channel since I'm starting out learning bass! normally I don't comment on videos, but I gotta say I'd really love to see a cover of Woodstock by Matthews Southern Comfort in the future. can't find tabs for it anywhere online :P
Great videos! I was wondering if you have any tips for have posture. My hand that holds the strings always gets cramped around the thumb palm. I noticed that when I play, my thumb isn't fully around the neck and is sometimes pinching. Any insight? it makes it hard for my pinky to hit certain frets
Try always keeping your thumb in the middle of the fretboard, always relaxed position and try also lifting your wrist to reach the strings and not your fingers. You should just press with your fingers, not stretch them so much
I have been watching your videos and playing along with you for over a year and I just want to say a sincere heartfelt thank you! my band has noticed a big difference in my ability and that comes from practicing ALOT and watching you.I dont know if you can see the bass in my pic there but I design well maybe thats not the word but I cover them in whatever I can get ahold of or what someone wants I have completed 14 guitars and basses for various people I made the lottery ticket bass for the guy who won 10 million on a Missouri scratcher ticket !so I know this is older but I want to make one for you ! If you will just tell me some things you like ? do you collect anything ? just anything that I can put on a bass. I have a really good playing Ibanez sitting here with your name on it! and there is no charge I am happy to do this for you as you have done alot for me and im sure alot of other musicians as well. get ahold of me!
STP by Sublime please. Not a Patron, but if you could get around to doing that at some point, I'd love to see that. Especially the really fast part towards the end of the song.

Everytime I see your name when searching a song brings a smile to my face
Me too, if I am learning a song and he's up there, I follow his tabs.
Same
My exact thought haha
100% agree
Same. Learning a whole set list right now, so thankful he made this!

that little 79 - 79 Hammer on is so damn beautiful, it makes the whole bassline so much better
I'd just like to say that every single bassist is underrated.
I never noticed how awesome the bassline in this song is...dude, you are so awesome. I love sublime.. I am so grateful for the work that you put into all of this.

The bassline of this song is awesome.
You are unbelievably talented! I dream of playing bass like that one day.

This is such an awesome as hell bass line, you would've never know how intricate it was but it's very groovy and complex.
man, this really slapped me in the face. love this song so much but i never listened to the bassline. buzzed that i can finally learn this!
Thats a groovy bassline.
wow the bass line is a lot more involved than i wouldve thought, pretty cool!
It generally is very much involved when it comes to Sublime.
Really really excellent work. I was able to learn this song on piano quickly because of how on point this was, and the bass line seems to be exactly to the track. The only issue I had was that the D#m chords are actually B/D#. Again, great content
So much cream to that bass tone.! Great cover! looks so effortless..
Wow. This is out of my league. Great job.
Are the 9's with the little 7's next to them essentially hammer-ons?
Yes, in grace note for you have to execute as fast as you can, getting the feel at the same beat almost
Ok thank you so much! always wondered if i was doing it right
yes... yes they are
I'm trying to learn this song... I'm getting the basic of it down, the hard part is remembering the slight differences in some measures and which one to use when.

Strumming with his thumb?
Thank you . Once I got groove down, I know I can do 5ths and get by. Looking forward to playing it more to work in variations like you !

0:43. Lovely!
I've been waiting for this!
Ha, love the added double stops with the open string at the end... nice touch.
I love the ending touch
This is fantastic!! Thanks for uploading this
Beautiful 👍
He is doing more than what is required. I don’t think the original has this many notes. It works perfectly though.
You sir are skilled.❤
Actually he's playing exactly whats recorded, if you listen closer with quality headphones you can pick up more of the bass line. I also was surprised when I discovered how much is going on with the bass part, but it's been there the whole time, just buried in the mix a bit
this is exactly the same as what is played in the original Santeria
Very very good. I love it
