  • In addition to a general overview of the USB port install, I correct the reverse camera wiring mistake I made installing a new radio and backup camera. (Backup cam was wired to rear power instead of *signal; radio plug simply came out or was forgotten during initial install). Something breaks, something else is forgotten and fixed. Real-world example of learning as you go. Not professional advice. 2004 Tundra Sr5 Double Cab.

How’s the usb holding up? I purchased one for my Jvc head unit and works for a bit then it disconnects from CarPlay.

Honestly haven't been using it except to charge on occasion, at which it is pretty slow, just sustaining the last drops of battery. But the hardware (usb mount) is functioning fine. I run a de-googled, non-Apple phone now, so it won't connect with the maps on that OS, which is on me for using a weird OS. Worked OK with Droid and Apple maps when I initially tested, but I switched phones soon after. Bluetooth is all I use. Between Apple and Droid, I had better function out of the Apple maps than the Droid, though one or both of them was a little delayed compared to using without connecting to head unit.
