Oh god. I'm a woman, and straight, and this made me emotional. That's how amazing that song was written. And it couldn't have been as effective if Kurt and Austin hadn't performed it as well as this. Great job
wow. im so moved. Im not gay, but i can still relate to this song. I havent heard the original, but this tugged at my heart and i teared up. His voice is so moving. Amazing.
Beautiful. I love the song, and one of my favourite things about Kurt's videos, is the simplicity of them. You don't go over the top with anything and you let the song speak for itself, and your talent shines through.
When I was younger My daddy told me I would never Never amount to nothing special He'd come at me from every angle He'd say, "You're the last thing I wanted, the last thing I need How am I gonna answer when my friends tell me My son was kissing boys in the street My son was kissing boys in the street" He tried to change me Said I'm embarrassing my country How could I do this to my family Do I wanna grow up being lonely He'd say, "We've worked for our money, we put you in school Is this how you repay us? Do you think this is cool? My son, stop kissing boys in the street My son, stop kissing boys in the street"
Now that I'm older My daddy's heart's a little warmer But he still won't hold me like my brother And he still won't kiss me like my mother He said, "You're a part of this family, I made you myself But the way that you act isn't good for your health My son, stop kissing boys in the street My son, stop kissing boys in the street" Oooooooo Ohhhhhhh My daddy's dying And he's finally realized I'm not lying We sit in silence but we're smiling Because for once we are not fighting He said, "There was no way of knowing 'cause all I was taught Is men only love women, but now I'm not sure My son, keep kissing boys in the street My son, keep kissing boys in the street When I'm gone, keep kissing boys in the street"
If TH-cam would allow a million likes from one person on one video on one account, every single one of Kurt's videos would get one million likes from me!
All I have left to wish for is that someday a guy like me will be able to love the guy he loves freely and without any fear whether coming from actual persons or the bigotry that is religion. :(
+Ray Madein Please don't say that religion is bigotry. It's not religion that's bad, it's the people in it who take it to the extremes. We as humans are not supposed to assume what God wants and hate gay people. We are supposed to love and respect another person because they are a human being; some religious people don't understand this concept. I'm a faithful Christian myself and I accept gay couples. In fact, I think gay couples are cuter than straight couples. I hope one day you find a great partner and you both have an amazing life together :)
Yeah in the same way that Guns don't kill people, Religion doesn't enforce bigotry. People do that. People choose to convolute and destroy the name of a religion and everyone else who practices it.
I wish I could say so, but my family's religion, the religion I was born into which is Islam is very clear on that, if you actually follow it literally, I'd be dead right now. Now tell me this is not bigotry.. :( Anyway, let's keep on being optimistic I guess... Peace.
Ray Madein People don't see that a lot of religion is based on historical events. Much like the reasoning behind not eating pork is because at the time, Pork was incredibly deadly. People need to realise that religion is filled with clashing ideologies and cannot nitpick on specific texts whilst ignoring others. You cannot blame the religion for being what it is. It's the people practicing it who must come to the understanding that just because a book based on the events 700 years ago states it, it does not mean that it's the definite truth now. Islam also teaches peace and love and respect for another. Does that mean that because one person has committed a "sin" all other verses and teaching shouldn't be taken into consideration?
Personally, at this point in my life, I identify as an agnostic. I believe all we need to be decent is humanity. But yes, I totally get where you're coming from.
This song actually got to me. Usually I don't relate to songs, but this song reminds me of my childhood, but the genders switched. My mum was angry at me for liking/dating/kissing girls, and always made me feel worthless, unlike my father, who loved me like a parent should. To anyone else that has had a similar experience, I wish you the best. Remember, you are worth it, you are amazing, and anyone who doesn't appreciate you is being just plain dumb. Have a good rest of your day/night (whatever time it is for you).
"My son, stop kissing boys in the street". What a powerful line; embodies the rigid biological sexuality humans have to adhere to according to "society" and concept of "masculinity". Thank you for sharing this
He was holding back the tears so much, this is a thing that happens almost everyday. People don’t get it. Love is love and you can’t change that. Wether it’s a boy or a girl or anyone. Also, can we mention how good this guy is at singing ;w; like, I couldn’t do better even if I dreamed of it-
This song broke my heart... I will never do something like that to my child. I will love it no matter what. It will be a part of me and my life... Cant treat that person like that. You just can't....
That 's because you are so lucky u weren't taught how to be a man of family but you know how to be a man of family. Many religions are still blinding to refuse the truth, and i sure their Gods will swear they have never taught them the way they taught their believers.
Damn! Who is this dude? I first heard this moving song on the radio by Greg Holden & searched for it here on youtube. I saw "kurt sent me here" mentioned in the comments. Greg Holden's performance makes me cry every time I listen but the guy in this video had me sobbing! I'm not even gay! lol! Lovely song, great message. Love & acceptance for everyone!
This is actually a happy song if you think about it because the father accepted his son in the end. The sad part is thinking about how many fathers do not accept their sons even just before their deaths...
I haven't heard this song before, but it honestly almost brought me to tears. it was so beautiful and the lyrics have so much meaning behind them. as always Kurt, you are doing a wonderful job with these arrangements. keep it up!!
I absolutely love this song, his voice makes it all the more powerful. There's just something about how it was done. Nice job Kurt, this is one of my new favorite songs.
Not gonna lie I clicked on this video with no knowledge of what the song was about just expected to put it on as background noise. It was incredible. Great job both of you
This was such a beautiful song, it almost made me cry. It has such a strong message in it about gay oppression, and homosexuality being ostracised. I freaking wish that every freaking person who says anything against LGBT rights gets what they deserve. I once told a friend of mine that I wished I could sock people like that in a face. And my friend, being a really good guy and a really good friend said calm down kid because they'll get what they deserve one day. They won't go unpunished. Now every time I come across someone who is an anti-homosexual I feel only pity for them because they don't see that things have changed, they don't understand that it's the twenty first century and things are different. You don't have to be afraid any more. You don't have to feel lonely because you're different. Whatever you are, there's something about you that makes you unique and there'll always be someone who loves you for that. We keep talking about equality, yet hardly any of us know the meaning of that word. So this is for all the bisexuals, homosexuals, transgenders and queers out there. No matter what happens, remember you're not alone. There'll always be someone who loves you. And if you love somebody, what are silly rumours worth?
It makes me so happy that Greg Holdan is getting popular enough to get A+ covers like this. I saw him years ago live when he toured with A Great Big World and he was WONDERFUL. Great cover, Kurt and company. Does not disappoint at all. :)
Love this song. Listened to it half a dozen times today crying every time. So emotional. And though my father never said these things, I am sure he felt this way. So I hid it for most of my life. Prefer this version to the original
This version always made me tear up at the end such a beautiful heartfelt piece of music and Austin did it greatly I applaud his vocals to the song , 😢👍I tear up for it so greatly sung
What a very touching song, it took me years to accept myself after I came out to my family. Half of them disowned me and refused to accept me, the others opened there arms and house as a safe place for me when needed. After that I felt like a disappointment, did I do something wrong, I didn't get to choose this life, it's just how I was made. Now I have my supportive family and a wonderful boyfriend who loves me for me.
I was not prepared for this. Just randomly clicked on this video not even knowing the song and then there's him singing so emotional and there's the meaning of the song. Man, I could go on and on, it was straight up beautiful.
Both versions are great, each has its unique quality. Austin's voice expresses the pain while Greg's voice expresses the triumph. Each is great. I have both saved to my favorites. Playing them back to back ( something I normally do not do) allows me to feel the full story of this powerful song.
Hey Kurt, Point of feedback: this song is beautiful, and that's why I would appreciate it if you waited a little longer with the aftertalk. It kinda ruins the fadeout of the song. Other than that... Thank you.
I feel like this video needs to have 1million+ views. It's absolutely perfect. Austin's voice, the video, the piano, the composition, everything. Simple amazing.
At first I thought this would be a song about a bad father or a sad childhood... But it's much more then I was expecting. This is beautiful. I'm so glad Kurt introduced us, his large audience, to this song.
I have seen one or two. I searched for cover version of this song and have seen a couple of videos that had some of the words and Gender changed to create a female version
there is so much raw emotion in just the lyrics themselves. this so many of my friends stories, and they deserve so much more. if we could all just judge a little less and love a little more, imagine how kind the world would be.
I have been listening to this heartbreaking cover of Greg Holden's composition for years, but just unearthed the video by Mr. Percario & KHS. Gentlemen, in case you ever have the time to read what folks post about you: You did an AMAZING job. Most cover versions never quite reach the high bar of the one created by the composer/performer. But in this case you both leapt over that bar by miles. Thank you, and all blessings on you as the personal & artistic journeys of your lives continues.
This song is so beautiful, that i don't have words.... So emotional.... so good... That i can't keep my tears.... Thank you very much Kurt for this great work... It's like a miracle.
+JamesWronaVlogs Kurt has covered one of Greg's song (Home) before, so that's probably how he know him. Either way, I never thought Kurt would cover this song. He usually go for pop songs. I have to say though, the original version is way better. The original has such depth of emotion, rawness and flawless storytelling without being too cheesy and vulnerable.
I was trying to study and had spotify playing. Then this song came on and now I'm bawling my eyes out.. Songs don't usually make me cry b-but, this one, it's s-so beautiful and sad, I just- I'm gonna go cry now...
Kurt could you please do a song with Diamond White and Austin Percario i think they would fit perfect together their voices are beautiful lots of Love Femke💙
My goodness, I had forgotten about this song and just found it again, I got the biggest chills i’ve had in a long time pretty much throughout the whole thing but especially at the last lyrics, this is a beautiful version of a beautiful song, thank you for this.
Omg Kurt I just realised how absolutely amazing it would be if you did a collab with Austin and Jasmine! I mean they kinda have the same kind of voices, so they sound amazing in the same kind of songs. And just imagining them harmonising... 😍
I was just scrolling through the comments and came across this, and when I started reading the comment I was like "YES OMG SOMEONE WHO AGREES WITH ME" but then I was like "wait this sounds a bit familiar... UGH it's my own comment from two years ago. Glad I still agree with myself at least" so ehm yeah
I love this song so much. First of all, it's amazing. Kurt's piano skills and Austin's singing are awesome. Second of all, it's super meaningful. Being gay is hard people don't accept or respect people who are attracted to people of the same gender. Many people say that being homosexual is different and that's a bad thing. Being different from the person next to you is part of life. Every single person is different in some way. People these days just need to willing accept people who are different from them, from homosexuality to race
Adam Lambert sent me over via Twitter. Austin, you are incredibly talented. Your voice is so rich and full. The song is so sad and makes me remember things from my youth I'd rather forget. So poignant. Thank you for sharing this with all of us. I hope to hear lots more from you.
The combination of this song and Austin's voice is golden perfection! I'm so looking forward to seeing more collabs between the two of you in the future. Kudos!
Very touching... this guy just shows up how beautifully and naturally can live in between our differences, let's just do more for people, just let's them live life without sadness and misjudgements, but with pride and love... we are always the next closest person... always.
that was an emotional ride i was not prepared for
I know! From the title, I thought it was going to be a happy upbeat song
+Kaylee 〈3 i think that way too 😂
Beautiful tho

I’m a woman, and I’m not straight with unsupportive parents, I cried while listening because I can relate so much
When ever I hear song makes cry.
same here. my mom said that she would always love me but she could never support me and im to scared to tell my dad 😞
Beautiful. I love the song, and one of my favourite things about Kurt's videos, is the simplicity of them. You don't go over the top with anything and you let the song speak for itself, and your talent shines through.
+Kirsty Bailey Thanks Kirsty :) Glad you liked it!
Kurt Schneider You're very welcome. :D
+Kurt Schneider ya plz make a video with victoria and max
+Kirsty Bailey your choice of words gave me goosebumps! have you thought of being a author and write a book? :) just me being random haha
hi
When I was younger
My daddy told me I would never
Never amount to nothing special
He'd come at me from every angle
He'd say,
"You're the last thing I wanted, the last thing I need
How am I gonna answer when my friends tell me
My son was kissing boys in the street
My son was kissing boys in the street"
He tried to change me
Said I'm embarrassing my country
How could I do this to my family
Do I wanna grow up being lonely
He'd say,
"We've worked for our money, we put you in school
Is this how you repay us? Do you think this is cool?
My son, stop kissing boys in the street
My son, stop kissing boys in the street"
Now that I'm older
My daddy's heart's a little warmer
But he still won't hold me like my brother
And he still won't kiss me like my mother
He said,
"You're a part of this family, I made you myself
But the way that you act isn't good for your health
My son, stop kissing boys in the street
My son, stop kissing boys in the street"
Oooooooo
Ohhhhhhh
My daddy's dying
And he's finally realized I'm not lying
We sit in silence but we're smiling
Because for once we are not fighting
He said,
"There was no way of knowing 'cause all I was taught
Is men only love women, but now I'm not sure
My son, keep kissing boys in the street
My son, keep kissing boys in the street
When I'm gone, keep kissing boys in the street"

This describes my life so well... I love purging my feelings while singing and crying my heart out to this song

I thought I was the only one who knew and loved this song ♥ this might actually be better than the original, absolutely gorgeous
I love this song and this version. It's stripped down and raw. Austin Percario's voice brings a lot of emotion to the song.
Kurt could you please do a song with Diamond White and Austin Percario i think they would fit perfect together their voices are beautiful
lots of Love Femke💙
We missed Austin. His voice is simply a pleasure and joy to listen to and he's such a beautiful boy #mcm. Amazing cover
Painfully beautiful ... 😍😭
Greg Holden is so talented and incredible, this song had me in tears the first time I heard it, beautiful cover!
i listen to this like 10 times more today
Not only is this the most beautiful and touching song, his voice is also straight up angelic
There's so much emotion in his face and voice. Just. Amazing.
Please collab with +Leroy Sanchez
Yes!!

Yes please
YESSSSS
I'm in tears right now.....this is pure beauty!
I actually never heard the original one but this is very beautiful... and sad
Same I never heard this song but I'm crying because it's a sad song
Adam Lambert sent me over via Twitter. Austin, you are incredibly talented. Your voice is so rich and full. The song is so sad and makes me remember things from my youth I'd rather forget. So poignant. Thank you for sharing this with all of us. I hope to hear lots more from you.
What. I'm not crying.
I can't stop listening to this. So well done. Love everything about it.
Every Gay Boy's Story . . .
Kurt's Musical Arrangement + Austin's Soulful Voice = Best Cover...
The combination of this song and Austin's voice is golden perfection! I'm so looking forward to seeing more collabs between the two of you in the future. Kudos!
The title of this did NOT prepare me for the emotions I was about to experience, damn.
Very touching... this guy just shows up how beautifully and naturally can live in between our differences, let's just do more for people, just let's them live life without sadness and misjudgements, but with pride and love... we are always the next closest person... always.
