  • Some people REALLY want their puppy's ears to stand up prick. Other people just want their puppy's ears to have symmetry. In this episode of dog vlogs, you'll see world champion dog trainer Kayl McCann using Breathe Right strips to get her friend's Border Collie puppy's ears to stand up. It's a straight forward process that Kayl explains in just a few steps. I wanted a chihuahua but the woman I was getting it from told me at the last minute she didn't live in the same city as me :/ so I got a cross 3/4 chihuahua 1/4 jack russel . she has a jack russel body on terms of markings but her face looks like a little chi, but with floppy ears so I'm currently trying to get them to stand using medical tape. my friend who came with me to get the puppy didnt believe I could get her ears to stand and they are still floppy sometimes but he says he can see a difference in how much they stand up :)

      You're going to place the strip perpendicular (like you would put a stitch straight across the length of a wound) to crease that forms when your dog's ear is folded (floppy).
      At 1.3 years, the cartilage is mostly (if not entirely) developed. If you see results, they'll take a pretty long time to manifest.

    • @McCannDogs
      @McCannDogs  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the strips are small enough you can just place the one end on a bare section in your puppy’s ear and the other end at a point where the wide end of the nose strip doesn’t wrap over the top of the ear.
      We don’t do breeds as small as a chihuahua often. You may want to try mole skin and q-tip sticks cut down to an appropriate size. This will allow you to support those adorable tiny ears in a situation where the nose-strips may be too big! Hope this helps! ~Ken

    Does this work for dobermans ear crop? I've been going to the vet every week to get it taped, would this be solution?

      Hi there, Abdulllah! I don’t know, I’ve never tried this method with a Doberman. I would stick with your current method only because it’s being overseen by your vet. Thanks for watching! ~Ken

      nope this only works for dogs under 9 months. ur dogs cartilage in the ears are fully formed and cannot be changed.

    Is there any way they can get this off?
    To put them in their crates unattended with this on their ears … what if they were to get it off and eat it? Or is it stuck on pretty good?

      Hi there, Katie! We have no experience taping the ears of that mix. I'm sure there are lots of resources on TH-cam that can help you with either Frenchie's or Boston's specifically! ~Ken

      It uses laser light to stimulate the muscles. It improves blood flow and speeds up muscle recovery after exercise! Our dogs LOVE it!

    Any idea of this would work on a German Shepherd mix? His mom is German Shepherd and they assume his dad was a black lab because all the pups were black.
    Mine is 8 weeks old and I'm really hoping his ears will stand up. I think he'll look a little strange with floppy ears, he's adorable right now with them and I've done a good job of not touching his ears in the past few days so the cartilage will grow stinger. So I'm just wondering if this will help his ears stand up if they have any chance of standing up at all.

      Hi! Just came across your comment, I’m getting a German shep x Black Lab too in a few weeks, I’d love for her ears to stand, I was just wondering if your pups ears stood naturally or if you had to help them?
      Thanks in advance!
