My high end motto has changed . I used to buy super “special” shades and palettes thinking “oh this will be great for xyz event “ or a “special night” . Now I only buy high end IF I can make it work for everyday . I also agree that I would rather get a high end single shadow to bump up my look over a 100$ palette .
This is why I want to try some higher end base products, but the thought of buying the wrong shade is making me stressed already 😅 not a cheap mistake 😅
Tom Ford, Chantecaille, some Chanel, etc... They aren't "lackluster", they are subdued for minimalist makeup lovers all the way to mature clients that want a subtle sheen instead of glitter or shimmer. It's understated on purpose. 👍
Just FYI, Amanda, this is exactly the video I needed. Time to weed out my wish list. I get googoo eyes so easily for all the bougie products I can't afford. This is a very useful video. Thanks!
I've started feeling this more now. Now I can afford more expensive products and have tried some I loved (bobbi brown cheek pots). I wanna try more. I'd love to try the foundations from nars but the thought of having to buy twice for having the wrong shade is already making my brain cry 😢 😭
You are literally my favorite girl, you just know how to do it! Show the product, swatch it, then apply it in natural light. Literal perfect set up. ❤️❤️
The moonlit seduction is my favorite of Pat McGrath’s palettes. I have both divine rose palettes and the huetopian dream palettes. What I love about moonlit seduction is how subtle the special shades are. They’re nuanced and special in a really elegant and office friendly way. I think it is going to be my most used palette
Please do a sheer lipstick roundup comparison! My formula preference is exactly the way that you describe yours ( sheer, buildable, feels good on the lips, and stiff but with some glide) , and i feel that it's super niche so there isn't a lot of content about it unless you really dig.
Looking forward to the balm bronzer and sheer lipstick roundups! I was just trying to decide between Chanel rouge coco flash and Gucci glow & care earlier today.
Hi Amanda! I do love the aesthetic of Tom Ford, and I love the cream eyeshadows-- I bought Platinum based on your recommendation and love it when I need to get out of the door ASAP! I ended up buying Sphinx and Burnt Copper (olive shade) as a result, and use them seasonally. I agree with you on the old Tom Ford quads. I didn't buy any until the Soleil Neige collection came out-- I have Soleil d'hiver (peach-copper) and Soleil et lune (mint-grey), and I don't use them because I don't find them shiny/reflective enough. They're sheer and take a lot to build up, which for $90 is annoying when you want to hustle out the door. That being said, have you tried the new cream eyeshadow quads from TF? I have all 3 of them, but the all matte one (Smoky Quartz) is the best one-- no primer or base needed for me! Smokey Topaz is much more neutral (leaning cool), which has shimmer and satin that I imagine would be better in winter and Tiger Eye is peachier/warmer which is perfect for the current summer weather, I think.
@@AmandaZ I also wanted to comment on Chanel-- definitely agree on their quads! I have Road Movie and one of the teal shades is so chalky and choppy. I have the hyped 747 Mediterranean and everything looks the same on my eye with so much glitter fallout-- the best way is to use fingers or a foam applicator since I don't find brushes to work for me. The only regular quad I have is Candeur et experience-- lovely neutral browns with a pop of red (but I only use the brown shades). Strongly agree with Water Fresh tint-- love it for summer and winter! I can't be bothered to fight the weather when it's too damn hot or cold. I also agree with Rouge Coco Flash--very overly hyped for not much performance. I have the Rouge Allure Ink and Double Intensitie lipsticks which are hydrating and lasting, especially on masks! Double Intensitie is bulletproof! I recently bought Rouge Coco Bloom lipsticks and hope it performs like the Allure lipsticks you have! Btw, there is an upcoming Fall Chanel makeup release soon and there are a beautiful array of nude lipsticks that I think you will love (and a limited edition, of course!)!
@@thecrystallibrarian I do have hooded eyelids. In my experience, I didn't need primer when I used Smokey Quartz. However, I still used eye primer just in case. I tend to not use primer when I'm in a hurry and Smokey Quartz is my go to. I currently have oily lids from summer heat, so am using primer and Tiger Eye quad the few times I had to wear eyeshadow. I haven't tried using the quad without primer.
This is a fantastic video! We need more of these types of videos when it comes to luxury makeup. I love luxury items when they are worth it. For instance the Armani luminous silk foundation love it and have for years. You may like the the Koh Gen Do Brightening Moisture powder for all over the face. I have dry skin and it’s lovely. Also the Cle de peau stick concealer, I love this for natural quick days. They changed the formula and I bought it but haven’t used it yet as I have some of the old one left. I hear it’s still good. I certainly hope so.
My luxury fail is one of CT eyeshadow quad that I got at the same time with a big CT eyeshadow palette. It is so lackluster, doesn't even stand against a drugstore palette. After that I actually watched bunch of brand reviews of CT and learn that all her quad is not the same quality. I wish I had done that before buying that palette. But throughout this I also learned what kind of makeup I truly like and watching lots of reviews before buying something.
Something you should try- the new Nyx wondersticks… I just got the medium light one and was so surprised how much I love the highlighter end! Not just on the cheeks but on the eyes- it’s beautiful! Wet and shimmery!
Merit lip colors are my absolute favorite. Fashion is going to be my fall go to as well as 1990. I’m waiting for slip to come back in stock! I would love to see all of your lip products. You are adorable and I love your videos.
I was gifted the Chanel bronzing cream (I wouldn't buy it for myself, too expensive) BUT, I love it, it works amazing in my skin and does blend beautifully, so I do think it's a matter of skin type, personal preference. To me it looks just like skin. I agree on all the others for exactly the same reasons. The Water Fresh Tint also is soooo good on my skin.
This is a super useful video. I especially appreciate the mini review for the moonlit seduction palette. I was wondering how it stacked up to your other PMG palettes.
Completely agree with all your picks, except the WMA contour stick - that I absolutely love and find to look way more seamless than the CT contour wand 😍😂 Would love this to be a series
Beige mitzvah has my ❤️ . Why I bother looking at any other taupe bronze is just silly. It is stunning! Also, I know this is a lux beauty video but have you tried the Flower Beauty Day Glow highlighting glaze? I can't remember, but it is so pretty!
Love the Westman atelier contour stick and blush. Treated myself out of my birthday money last year and love both. Don't own too many other super high end things. Almost bought a pat mcgrath palette but baulked at the €150 cost.
My luxury fails are both my Natasha Denona palettes. I have Bronze and Glam and I hate the formula. It wears terribly, creases and fades within literally 30 minutes. Big regrets
I bought the Glam Face palette by Natasha Denona after watching so many reviews about it and they all claimed this palette was neutral to cool toned, but it totally isn’t! It’s straight up warm and some shades look orange on me, I hate that! I do like the highlighter and the blush. But again, the blush is warm toned that I can only use in the summertime because I’m way too fair to wear it in the winter. I do like shimmering shades that are in there, but there’s fallout and honestly, I wouldn’t repurchase it. That’s usually how I judge products- if I would repurchase them or not. If I really love something I would repurchase it again and again! 🙂
Thanks for the honest review (as always) on the Moonlit Seduction palette! I love the "basic champagne shade" for inner corner highlight on my eye shape, but I use it in my Divine Rose palette and won't be getting the new palette.
Hi Amanda 👋 I bought the original Chanel cream bronzer a few years ago and am still finishing it up. I heard that the formula changed so that those people who can't use coconut oil no longer can use this balm. I find the only down side is that it leans orange. Since this balm came out there's been so many new and varied bronzing balms. I am leaning towards the CT balm once I finish the Chanel one. Thanks for some of your suggestions today. A thorough review. Would love try the Gucci lippies but I have quite a collection of Lisa Eldridge lipsticks which I really LOVE!!!
I know you were disappointed in Moonlit Seduction, but your eye look here is absolutely mesmerizing. (I also did a gasp with the last one in your demo b reel as well) Maybe it’s just on camera but not in person but it made me 😍
Looooove the gucci brilliant shine lipsticks mine is in the lightest pink shade and with my light olive complexion I didn’t think it would actually work but for a glossy lightly pinky almost no make up shade it works so so well 🤩🤩🤩 and the Charlotte Tilbury highlighters are soooo pretty my favorite highlighter in a long long time. I really love the rose gold shade 😘👌🏼💕💕
Yes, please do a sheer lipstick video! Those are my favorite type of lipsticks. I’m curious how the Flower Beauty Perfect Pout Moisturizing lipsticks stack up. I love them for a sheer buildable color.
So good. Thank you. I adore TF cream shadows as well. I worry and think he (Estée Lauder) are phasing them out. You sold me on the Kjaer Weiss blush too - I need to get a refill and wanted to try something new from her and that Inner Glow looks beautiful.
So the direct natural light on swatches is beautiful, but I’ve been buying products you’ve recommended for around a year now and a lot of them have ended up a lot more “warm toned” than they looked in your videos. I know the warm lighting and all that is part of your channels aesthetic, but I was wondering if you might consider different lighting for swatches? Most products you show look cool or neutral but many irl are actually very warm and it throws me off lol
Actually from all the beauty videos I’ve watched on TH-cam about luxury makeup, *most* products all look pretty warm to me. It seems like all the influencers put on a light brown transition shade, then a darker brown, taupe, or burnt orange darker shade, then a gold or champagne shimmer on the lid. Every…..single…..time. 🤦🏻♀️ all the luxury stuff looks the same to me
@@christiecruz6987 I agree! It's funny because I've bought tons of cream shadows and stuff based on Amanda's reviews and only a tiny handful of them are actually cool toned! I mean, for some reason stuff has always pulled super warm on me anyway no matter what so I wasn't upset or anything given the fact that I'm just used to products being deceptively more warm than initially expected. I still use what I've purchased and I like them, most were just not at all what I anticipated
Has Amanda compared the rose inc foundation to the chanel les beiges? I was so sure I wanted the chanel and was saving up for it... but ive heard many people compare the rose inc to it and some liked it more... and its cheaper. Part of me calls bullshit, but part keeps saying ... but it's a more sustainable option as far as what I can afford and it's easier for me to not feel guilty if it's cheaper. Can you please help me?? Can you tell me what eye primer to use for oily lids?? I love to use cream shadows but I need to know what brush works best for application, what brush do you use for cream shadow? Absolutely love your reviews and honesty. Please help me with answering my questions, I really appreciate it. Thanks so much!
Thank you for your honesty! It’s refreshing to see people stand behind their opinions. I just got Nude Dip and although I really love it, I also equally love my Makeup Revolution Beyond Flawless palette that has lots of beautiful shimmering shades, that was a fraction of the Tom Ford price! 🙂 However, I will get Seductive Rose by Tom Ford next because those shades are right up my alley, cool toned and all. So I’m a fan of the formula. The shades are beautiful. But another thing that happened- one of the shades in the Nude Dip started falling out 😂 so that’s a shame because the pallet is so expensive. At first I was mad about it, but it’s not worth it to be in a bad mood over makeup, at the end of the day it’s just makeup. I always wanted to try TF shadows, so I got it. I know I will use Nude Dip a lot, it’s a gorgeous pallet! I was disappointed with Natasha Denona Glam Face palette in Light. It’s super warm toned and there’s fallout, I barely use that one and it was pretty expensive as well. So I prefer TF for what it’s worth. Thank you for the video! 👍
I would love to see Gucci lipstick video. I’ve only tried the matte at this time but am interested in the other formulas. Agree with the comment that the colors are dialed in
Hi Amanda, we are on par in terms eye shadows. After your review on Tom Ford quads, I’m starting to wonder what your thoughts are on Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk quad? I know im late in the game but thinking of purchasing it for a daily look. Lmk!
Not Amanda obviously, but hope my 2 cents is helpful! I find the CT pretty sheer as well when compared to something like PMG, but for a daily look it's pretty foolproof. I personally love my Pillow Talk quad for when I want something that's not too in your face
I also am actively anticipating that cream bronzer video. AND I just noticed chanel launched a new high impact refillable lipstick with beautiful packaging. So if you’re interested I’d love to see an opinion on that Have you tried the Victoria beckham lipsticks? Their packaging reminds me of this new Chanel packaging and merit.
Amanda, I’ve got Charlotte Tilbury eyes to mesmerize oyster pearl, love it. My question is, shouldI try the Tom Ford platinum or are they similar enough that I don’t need both?
I mostly will go for high end when buying eyeshadow and lip or eye pencils. Sometimes face powder. Everything else, I am usually happy with drugstore level. I remember buying Chanel singles years ago, and they were decent…but I bought a quad last fall and it’s underwhelming. Boring, even. The colors look pretty in the pan, but dull on the eyes. I also have the Chanel Ultra Le Tint Velvet foundation, and don’t care for that either. Hard to apply evenly and looks very dry on my skin. I bought a Pat McGrath quad last month, colors are gorgeous, but the shimmers feel very dry and and hard to build up….so, yeah, I’m just as likely to be disappointed with high end as I am with some of the cheaper stuff.
Apologies if you said this, but could you do more thorough review of the moonlit seduction palette? I wouldn't mind seeing comparison swatches so I can see what you are talking about in terms of impact.
Chanel eye quads aren't meant to be bold and pigmented. They are much more subdued to suit the French style of makeup. They are ideal for me. I could never get away with the dramatic Pat Mc Grath colours, so it is more subjective than Chanel being an outright fail. Fully support your love of Eau de Teint. Superb foundation.
I don't wear a lot of highlight but am literally struck by how beautiful that Westman Atelier Nectar highlight is! Do you have a recommendation for something similar at a more affordable price point?
The only golds which look good on me lean green. PML always includes golds 😝 I own 6 Motherships, which I dig. No on this one. Smaller indie brands are just slaying the eyeshadow market, and have been for some time. Thankfully. JDGlow Galaxy shadows Are ALL that ‘specialness’.. Devina xploder shades rule. Anyway, everyone already knows this. 😬😬😬
Curious to see your thoughts on the Chanel N1 foundation. Also - have you tried Dear Dahlia? Their foundation seems interesting but I can’t find enough reviews
Havent tried that one but willing to give a try since I do like some chanel complexion products! I haven't tried dear dahlia either but their ads look beautiful
I’m surprised you recommend the Givenchy powder for dry skin, I find it extremely matte and drying! For that reason it is really good to knock down shine on very dewy looks.
@@jessi5401 oh interesting - I have the Voile Rosé shade because the Mousseline shade was sold out! I wonder if that is what it is - the formula varying between shades
The moonlit seduction is my favorite pat palette to date and I own them all. Just gorgeous sparkly shades and overall so cohesive and stunning! I think she did a great job honestly.
So which mothership do you recommend over moonlight seduction? I liked the neutral/rosy color story since I'm a neutral girl. However I am mainly interested in the special shades.
I was told that there is only one baked shade in her Blitz Astral shades. That could be the issue. Michele Wang didn’t think that any of them were baked. Regardless, whether there is one or zero, that is definitely less than four. I prefer the baked formula because it gives me that glass wet effect.
@@megan22004 i love the marble eyeshadows, the shade scandal, bella, also they have many many finishes, from pressed pigments,to sparkly ones.also their velvet eyeshadow in cherry is really nice! super cheap as well!
@@AmandaZ you'd love them, they also have liquid matte eyeshadow bases in so many colours, like the ones you love from ulta and they are around 5 euros i believe
Kjaer Weis just gave me amazing customer service, I have to shout them out. I was either porch pirated or my packages were delivered to the wrong address, and instead of making me deal w ups, after very quick and easy email communication they replaced my order with promptness.
I'm wondering if you have tried the Victoria Beckham powder eyeshadow in Silk. That is all shimmery shades that look like something that you might like, and I haven't been able to find very many videos or articles demonstrating it. I'm really tempted though.

@@ellelee8760 okay so I'm a dork. I just found where Amanda covered this 5 mo ago in a "buy this... not that- new releases" vid it's at 7:05 . I couldn't remember because apparently that's one of the few videos that I started watching and then life interrupted and I forgot to come back. My watched line stopped right before those products. 🤦♀️
I love the concept for this video.🙌🏻
Yes please to the Gucci lipstick video! Their colors are so tempting so I would love to know what formulas are good and what aren't.
I'd love to see that comparison between the Merit and the WA foundation sticks!
What primer do you use with the shiseido radiant synchro skin? I can’t figure it out- always looks makeuppy
I love this format. Is the beige mitzah warm toned?
I would love to see Gucci lipstick video. I’ve only tried the matte at this time but am interested in the other formulas. Agree with the comment that the colors are dialed in
What shade do you wear in the Giorgio Armani luminous silk foundation?
Do you think the Nectar Lit Up highlighter would move around too much on an oiler skin? x
@@SimplyRini thank you!
Would the Givenchy Prime Libre Rose Powder work for extremely fair skin or would the 01 Mousseline Pastel shade be the only one that works?
Amanda, what brush do you use to blend out the Dior shadow?
The elf halo powder is 💣 I haven’t found one other powder I like as much and I’m a high end beauty lover.
I also am actively anticipating that cream bronzer video.
AND I just noticed chanel launched a new high impact refillable lipstick with beautiful packaging.
So if you’re interested I’d love to see an opinion on that
Have you tried the Victoria beckham lipsticks? Their packaging reminds me of this new Chanel packaging and merit.
Amanda, I’ve got Charlotte Tilbury eyes to mesmerize oyster pearl, love it. My question is, shouldI try the Tom Ford platinum or are they similar enough that I don’t need both?
I don’t think you need both!!
I love your videos! Thank you!
Try the shiheido mono’s! Some looked really goed online. Pretty affordable to…
Apologies if you said this, but could you do more thorough review of the moonlit seduction palette? I wouldn't mind seeing comparison swatches so I can see what you are talking about in terms of impact.
I’ll try to follow up in a future video! But probably will not do a dedicated video
Yes! I subscribed for the fails
I don't wear a lot of highlight but am literally struck by how beautiful that Westman Atelier Nectar highlight is! Do you have a recommendation for something similar at a more affordable price point?
Rms Champagne Rose!
I follow you from Italy e appreciate your video so much!
Sheer lipstick video🙌🏻yessss
Are you going to try the new Chanel Les Beige foundation with the same little balls of pigment as the tint? Supposed to be similar but 3x the coverage
The only golds which look good on me lean green. PML always includes golds 😝
I own 6 Motherships, which I dig. No on this one. Smaller indie brands are just slaying the
eyeshadow market, and have been for some time. Thankfully. JDGlow Galaxy shadows
Are ALL that ‘specialness’..
Do I notice that the bronzer has moved up on the cheekbones than before?? 🧐🧐Some new makeup techniques are at work, it seems...
I’m surprised you recommend the Givenchy powder for dry skin, I find it extremely matte and drying! For that reason it is really good to knock down shine on very dewy looks.
That's so interesting - I have oily skin and I don't find it mattifying at all. We really do all be having different skin types lol!
@@TheSim1derful I have the Mousseline Pastel shade - could the shades differ?? Or is it all skin type?
@@jessi5401 oh interesting - I have the Voile Rosé shade because the Mousseline shade was sold out! I wonder if that is what it is - the formula varying between shades
The moonlit seduction is my favorite pat palette to date and I own them all. Just gorgeous sparkly shades and overall so cohesive and stunning! I think she did a great job honestly.
Yes please to sheer lipstick roundup!
It’s the Chanel water fresh being discontinued? Or is is just sold out on most shades I tried to buy it but no luck
It's just been sold out for a little while. It isn't discontinued.☺️
@@Jen-if2it thank you so much

Love this type of video!
So which mothership do you recommend over moonlight seduction? I liked the neutral/rosy color story since I'm a neutral girl. However I am mainly interested in the special shades.
She has two rose tone motherships I think
The Divine Rose 1 palette is the only mothership I own and is perfect for everyday wear.
I was told that there is only one baked shade in her Blitz Astral shades. That could be the issue. Michele Wang didn’t think that any of them were baked. Regardless, whether there is one or zero, that is definitely less than four. I prefer the baked formula because it gives me that glass wet effect.
Yes Gucci lipstick video please!
What’s your shirt?!
Lipstick roundup!
some of the Glamshop Pl eyeshadows are very very similar with PAT's. they are super affordable as well! :)
would love to try!
Any recommendations? I've been thinking of making a first order.
Great video!!!!
Imo most of tom Ford makeup isnt worth the price.
The majority i've had isn't :/
I'm wondering if you have tried the Victoria Beckham powder eyeshadow in Silk. That is all shimmery shades that look like something that you might like, and I haven't been able to find very many videos or articles demonstrating it. I'm really tempted though.
havent tried VB yet but would love to!!!
The reason PML special shades aren't special in MS is because they are no longer baked. Wish more people were talking about this! It's a money grab.
HONEYMOON by to ford is worth every penny
Luckily you can usually find these at the CCO
For like $25
Hi loved this video- what is on your eyes? Looks gorgeous 🌺
Tom Ford is always a miss for me with everything!
Suzanne is perfect on you.
The color on your eyes is what I’m searching for but I cannot pay $128 for a palette
what do you have on your eyes??? i can’t stop looking at them!!! ✨🫶🏼✨
Moonlit seduction palette!
@@AmandaZ oh ok. thank you so much. i don’t own any of her palettes.
That stupid champagne shade that she puts in EVERY single palette and wastes a space with is so annoying🤦🏻♀️ and it is not even nice😅
Pat McGrath palettes aren't just eye palettes. They're face palettes too. That's why the skin show shades are always in her palettes
😃😃😃😃😃
