I grew up listening to Ralph Stanley my Dad always played his music I always went & seen him & Ralph ll at bluegrass festivals I live in Indpls & Carl Hammond's mobile homes had a festival & bean dinner on Sundays for Carl birthday & Ralph would always be there & so was Ralph ll Carl Hammond's & Carter Stanley went to school together
George is my favorite singer. He can deliver a tear jerker better than anybody. Ralph Stanley is my favorite bluegrass singer. The way he sings A man of constant sorrow is the way it should sound.
me and my grandpa listen to this song so many times, we sing it with each other, now im the one driving and singing alone.... keep singing gramps♥️♥️♥️♥️
Same here man paw brought a cassette player over to my mom's house with George Jones in it and saids listen to this man sing. I've been hooked for over 50 years now, thanks paw I see you soon
Beautiful-song and three of the greatest voices ever. Two have now gone home-I pray that Vince is with us for many years yet to come. God bless you all.
The blessed name of Christ the Lord, through all trials and sfflictions, Gods gift is shown golden the faith of the brethren toward the God above and Christ the incarnate Son
We played the version of this from O Brother Where Art Thou? at my mom’s funeral. I wish I’d known this version existed. She was related to Ralph Stanley.
My latest sun is sinking fast My race is nearly run My longest trials now are past My triumph has begun Oh come angel band Come and around me stand Oh Bear me away on your snow white wings To my immortal home Oh bear me away on you snow white wings To my immortal home Oh bear my longing Heart to him Who bled and died for me Whose blood now cleanses from all sin And gives me victory Oh come angel band Come and around me stand Bear me away on your snow white wings To my immortal home Bear me away on you snow white wings To my immortal home
It's reeeeeal subtle but he's in there. Listen for the emphasis in "on your snow white wings", I can hear Vince clearly hit that high on the word "your". It helps if you have headphones too :)
A lot of good versions of this song but this one is my favorite. Where can you find just the song? Like on Apple Music or Amazon? I can't find it anywhere.
It's a dummy vote , nor I do no wish to cause you any ill wishes, repressions or . But I do defy anyone to better the music in Angel Band. It was perfect, or so to my thinking.
Mitch hope you like the song I did love you marsh wanted me to tell his little brother he needed you help to build porches and buildings and work on truck and cars and a few more other things but he said he would pay you and I'll help you to honey if you just come home to me but if you don't want to come home to me right now I understand I'll wait as long as it takes for you to come home to me by love but can u please talk to you on the phone or the messager on face book I would like to talk to you sweetheart I need you so bad to hold me and kiss me and miss me and tell me everything is going to be ok I hope you will come home but if you don't kill wait as long as it takes I'll never leave you just give me some way here please dont stop loving me I never stop loving you my sweetheart never love you love me
Liberal Looney jim Carey shouldnt have anything to do with it. Plus holly wood would never make a movie about someone like possum he was a conservative
@@dodgedrivinredneckky3996 Nonsense. A good story is a good story. The question is - would George Jones's story be a good one. I think it could be. There is much that could be learned from Jones's struggles if presented in the right way. While I don't see Jim Carrey in the role, the actor's politics, whoever he might be, are irrelevant to his ability to convey the character's life.
Thank you Jesus for dying on that cross for an old sinner like me
AMEN THANK YOU JESUS
Amen brother
Love this song! Jesus’s came to save sinners of whom I was chief ! Thank You Lord For Your Grace!
Amen, brother. The lord keep us all 🙏
AMEN! Christ is King 🙏

This song was my youngest daughters favorite from Ralph Stanley
They're steeped in 'Ol Timey
Only The Possum can do this
Angel Band - can you imagine Jerry Garcia singing this song?
Awesome
May they rest in peace in hillbilly heaven.
🎶❤️🙏✌️
Beautuiful song
I will miss you :,-(
I love an miss ole GJ
love this
I guess I'll be thebfirst to like the trio it is not as good as the original but the song has a very good message
it's great. No one ever "swallowed" his notes to great effect the way George Jones did. I can't hear Vince Gill in this cut, however.
What album is this off of? Love this rendition of this song! Would love to hear more of this trio!
Ol' Possum is the best ever. Love his phrasing too. JLL is another fav. Don't think JLL ever recorded this tho.
anyone know what album this came from?
Clinch Mountain Friends
@@marciacastro1005 THANK YOU. I've been trying to figure this out for years 🧡

I feel like Jim Carey could pull off George Jones in a movie
Totally agree. I've been waiting for that for years.
Liberal Looney jim Carey shouldnt have anything to do with it. Plus holly wood would never make a movie about someone like possum he was a conservative
