- I wanted to take a look at some of the unused kaiju from the Godzilla and some other universes. Today, I figured, I'd start off with one of my favorites, Ghost Godzilla! He was originally conceived to kill off the Godzilla of the Heisei era, but was obviously not used in any Godzilla movies.
I like the idea of Ghost Godzilla, though I'm not a big fan of the possessing little Godzilla angle. Would prefer it if the specter of the fallen 1954 Goji rose up without possessing anything.

the only issue is the Ghost of Godzilla would be 50 meters while the Hesei is 100 meters, if it was to posess Godzilla Junior it would atleast be taller than 50 meters

Hmph. Sounds to me like Ghost Goji inspired elements for both GMK Godzilla and Shin Godzilla.

I loved the story already, but a Ghost Godzilla sounds awesome! There can be so many theories and stories created. Perhaps it would be really coolt o end off with it. But no matter, both stroies sound really cool.

I'm constantly thinking that Shin Godzilla's rapid evolution and tearing of its flesh is what the old concept art for Ghost Godzilla appeared to be. I find the entire thing awesome, and sad that they never tried something as zany as a possession.
i think it would be cool to take the concept of godzilla possessing little godzilla and growing into a big godzilla but with another kaiju. imagine king ghidorah being posessed by ghost godzilla and growing into a combination of the two. or a mothra and godzilla combination.

If they decide to continue the Heisei series, have a fully grown Junior fight against a regenerated 1954 Godzilla, created by his surviving skeleton being irradiated by a nuclear submarine explosion, combined with G-Cells recovered from SpaceGodzilla, Biollante, and the remains of Burning Godzilla

I honesty think this would had been a great movie! Godzilla battling his "father so to speak" and Godzilla Junior taking over as a homage to the showa series as a more heroic personality could had all made for a grand conclusion to the Heisei Series and a well done dark and grim film all together!
It would be amazing if there would be a Ghost Godzilla film from Toho or Legendary & could be a good idea to be released on 2054 which is from 1954, but the Bio Godzilla does look interesting too :)
It went unused in this form but like with most of the toho monsterverse it did get used later. Kiryu heavily took inspiration from this making kiryu one of if not the strongest Mecha godzillas. Kiryus only issue is being significantly smaller than any of the other Mecha gojis at only 60 meters.

They made the right decision to side line this concept I think. I feel that science is at the core of the explanations to most plots in the franchise, and they wouldn't have retroactively worked with a spiritual aspect. That would mean if Godzilla had a ghost, then so would every monster he destroyed. The design would have been awesome though.

Man that would've been awesome!I remember I read about the ghost godzilla film online in 98' except it was adult Jr.,rodan and Anguris fighting ghost G.reguardless I would've loved to have seen both these films.it would've been great!
Ghost Godzilla roar is actually the scariest kaiju roar the I've ever heard. It even gave my mom the chills when I showed it to her.
I still get the chills just thinking about it. The roar mixes the original 1954 roar with sounds from ghosts and demons. That was the element that scared me the most.

Ghost Godzilla actually appeared in kiryu because the robot was made out of 1954 G and possessed kiryu to destroy tokyo again.

In a way, Ghost Godzilla was actually re-used.
In the 2001 film Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Monsters All-Out Attack (abbreviation is GMK) 1954 Godzilla is brought back to life by the souls of the people the Japanese had killed in World War Two. In a way, he is a ghost. Through the power of the Three Guardian Monsters, he was destroyed, but his heart lay beating at the bottom of Tokyo Bay...
Wow, Ghost Godzilla could actually work in a film!! Maybe in the MonsterVerse, the ghost would be Dagon!! A Godzilla vs Ghost Godzilla film would also make a nice Halloween film as well!! 👻👻🦖

I Guess you're right: Godzilla vs Destoroyah is a Nice replacement of Ghost Godzilla.
AzUrArInG Godzilla vs. Giant Monster Varan featured Varan, a harbinger of death, awakening in 1999, dead set on ending all life, only to be defeated by Godzilla and Little Godzilla.
This concept would be reworked into the second iteration of Godzilla vs. Bagan, which was another early GvD draft, only setting it in 1995/96 and replacing Varan with Bagan, while throwing in Mothra and the Atragon.
Of course, because it featured Bagan, you know how this story ends...

I like that idea of Ghost Godzilla possessing Little Godzilla, here, since it would have made for interesting drama; would Godzilla be sentient enough to acknowledge that this was his adopted child and have difficulty fighting it because of that? The way he reacted to Little Godzilla's death at the...claws...of Destoroyah would imply such anyway.
I highly doubt ghost Godzilla would go up against Godzilla because I find ghost Godzilla to be Godzillas granddad and with what you said they would go up against an unknown kaiju it would be awesome to see him
I'm pretty sure GMK Godzilla and Kiryu were derived from the ghost Godzilla concept. You gotta admit, GMK was a cool and menacing twist on the original.
Remember originally hearing about ghost Godzilla so I made up my own variation and while he could not fight
In his ghost form he didn't have to possess a living entity either even though he did have the ability to do so.
I based a special ability off of his ghost atomic Ray when that all of his spectral form would gather up in his glowing dorsal fins (like in the image) and shoot his spectral bean at whatever it is he pleased a building a mountain water whatever as he would completely disappear into the beam and whatever he shot would form into a Godzilla hybrid of whatever he shot that he could possess that would either drop dead or completely disintegrate/break apart after he was done possessing it.
some forms would be more powerful than others eventually though I wound up taking the concept and basically turning it into a fusion of this idea and Godzilla singular point (which is crazy because the actual story itself was almost exactly like singular point just a slightly different pacing for the story and a little more monster action)
And as I continued to rewrite the story again and again he got very very overpowered in the idea inevitably I made the only thing that could stop him and make him go back to his own universe was a kaija named bagen from the super Godzilla game
But just that's why he wouldn't get immediately destroyed that game was a lot more overpowered than he was in the game back and of course would have been nearly defeated credential and sacrifice himself to banish Godzilla back to his own dimension since that every time he destroyed one of Godzilla's forms he was just possess something else bigger and stronger and if had gone on long enough he would have just possessed the entire planet as he would slowly learn more and more about how our physics work allowing him to completely defy them until of course having been banished
If Legendary uses the Ghost of the original Godzilla from 1954 to face off the Monsterverse Godzilla, I'd be so happy.

It would have been a cross between godzilla battra and destoroyah mostly resembling godzilla.
I like too like the idea of Ghost Godzilla, personally I would've seen it as a sequel to Godzilla vs. Destroyah, haven a fully grown Junior face off with the resurrected spirit of the 54 version of Godzilla.

If you think back to Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. Kiryu was built with the original Godzilla's skeleton and when Kiryu becomes sentient red streaks of light run down the sides of his cheeks. Mothra's twin fairy priests also say in the movie that Godzilla's spirit is restless. Kiryu is Possessed by the original Godzilla. Maybe that's where the idea ended up in its final resting place. (Pun intened.😊)
It would've been awesome to see the original big g make a return as ghost just to possess Godzilla Jr and make him into what looks like a demon Godzilla. I know that wouldn't have been a good idea because there's been too many enemies that used Godzilla in their name.

Nope. They’re not related. Not only are they two different Godzillas, they’re two different species of animals. The Heisei Godzilla was a 12 meter tall Godzillasaurus living on Lagos Island, while the 1954 Godzilla was an unspecified species of giant prehistoric intermediary reptile (likely a dinosaur) that lived in an undersea cave off the coast of Odo Island alongside an entire family. Not to mention, the 1954 Godzilla was not “mutated” in the sense if he was made bigger. Unlike the Godzillasaurus that would become the Heisei Godzilla, the 1954 Godzilla was always giant-sized. He was always 50 meters tall. The only thing the H-Bomb tests in the late 40’s did was destroy his home, kill his family and hideously burn and scar him.
The 1954 Godzilla’s “scales” aren’t scales at all. They’re radioactive keloid scars, based on the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
So, to put it simply, the 1954 Godzilla was not a Godzillasaurus. Or at least, he may have been a different SPECIES of the Genus Godzillasaurus, but he was not the same species as the Heisei Godzilla. Different backstories, different methods of being awoken, and different fates. Godzilla Junior is not Shodai’s grandson and Heisei is not Shodai’s son.
The Heisei Godzilla and the original Godzilla are not related. End of story.
@Tommy Burns The killer / Connofool sucks The source is the movies. Watch them. Listen to what the characters say. The 1954 Godzilla was not a Godzillasaurus, and is not related to the Heisei Godzilla.

Though this dies of Ghost Godzilla sounds scary and interesting, I think it was better for Destroyah to be in this. Destroyah became my favorite Kaiju villain ever.
It might have been a good idea, but I definitely prefer the idea of the Oxygen Destroyer mutating the little creatures into Destroyah, as I think this did happen both Ghost and the normal Godzilla would team up to destroy Tokyo instead of being an actual villain.

Sounds like it would have been cool if they gone through with it. Just wish it didn't involve sacrificing Little G. A friend of mine had a theory that Shin-Godzilla was actually the resurrected remains of the first Godzilla from 1954. His regeneration was imperfect which is why he looked like such a mess in the trailers.

I still count gmk and millennium Mecha Godzilla to both be ghost Godzillas and even consider them to be the same character since both of them are the original goji in a new body

Actually the concept of GMK Godzilla was from Ghost Godzilla. GMK Godzilla is referred to as Ghost Godzilla. Just one of his many aliases.
I'm Not really a Fan of The possesion-of-Little Godzilla- Idea either, but it would be interessting to See an actual Godzilla vs. Ghost Godzilla Movie but again Thats just me. Anyway i'm Part of The Party that thinks that The GMK Godzilla is actually a Ghost Godzilla, but i Guess Kiryu also gives of an interessting Ghost Godzilla.:-)

The GMK Godzilla is the carcass of the original Godzilla being possessed by the souls of those slain by the cruelty of Japanese Imperial Army in WWII, using the body as a vessel in order to exact revenge on Japan for forgetting their sacrifices.
The concept of Ghost Godzilla was literally the spirit of the original Godzilla itself returning to exact revenge on the country.
GMK Godzilla and Ghost Godzilla are similar in concept but different in execution.
Personally it would have ended the heisei era on a high note having the heisei Godzilla defeating the original Godzilla would have been interesting but we got what we got and have destroyer instead also I still think Godzilla junior would have been resurrected as his father would still have died at the end

I actually preffer the Ghost Godzilla proyect to be apart from the Monsterverse.
I’d rather Monsterverse get creative and make their own, fresh ideas. Let Toho revive its own scrapped films.
Out of all the Godzilla Films starting from 1954 to present, I think Godzilla died 3 times now or 3 different Godzilla died: 1.) Godzilla King of the Monster 1954, sufficated by Oxygen Destroyer under the sea and turned into Skeletons. 2.) Godzilla vs. Destroyah 1995, turned into dust during meltdown after Super X 3 and the Freezer Tanks blasted Destroyah then blasted Godzilla to avoided vaporizing the entire planet to go with him. 3.) Godzilla Giant Monsters All Out Attacks 2002?, drilled by the submarine inside his body piercing thru his exposed neck. Godzilla tried to used his atomic breath for the last time, but it end up blasting out from his wounded neck and obliterated his whole body except his head remain. It would be more ideal to use Ghost Godzilla that died from the last two films 1995 & 2002?

I think the concept versions of these movies are cooler have more interesting monster designs but I am Thankful that Toho didn’t make Godzilla giant octopus

They were going to end it anyway, the films werent making as much. It happens as each era goes on. If anything, it got them to reinvest and put more money into the upcoming millenium films.

Close. While yeah, GMK Godzilla kinda looks undead, that whole mythos is due to Godzilla being possessed by the hundreds of thousands of souls who perished due to the cruelty of the Japanese Empire.

Godzilla Vs Ghost Godzilla would of been interesting, toho should of went for it.
If it where up to me This would happen but it would be a continuation of the Heisei era with the adult Junior as Godzilla facing Off against grandfather Godzilla vs Gojira if you will. But personally I would have done it as a pilot to a Netflix direct sequel to the Heisei films but that's just me. The Heisei films Where my introduction to Godzilla from the start so I'd consider it a honor to continue that story some how.
It's a great concept but needs refinement. Possessing Little G I don't think would work.
