Love me some Back In Black. But when I played football in high school, we used Hells Bells. Plus as a San Diego boy, Hells Bells meant “Trevor Time!” The Padres closer Trevor Hoffman was one of the greatest closers ever. They’d shut all the lights off in the stadium and ring a real bell while he came out of the bullpen in the outfield. I get goosebumps to this day thinking about it.

My music teacher recommended me Marty's videos. We actually followed Marty's tutorial of Tears in Heaven step by step, and I played it at the recital. Thank you, Marty!

Corona del Mar was my favorite beach back in the day... Climbing the rock mountain and exploring the pirate cave(s) as a kid are memories I'll never forget.

Hey Marty! Great video, has always. You got me really surprised now... How and why on Earth you have a Tagima, as shown when you play Panama. Didn't know anyone outside of Brazil had one, let alone Marty Freakin' Swartz!!

I remember coming home from school and watching the mtv countdown. I would put a vcr tape in and record my favorites. I remember the one video and also shot in the dark by ozzy, which is one of my all time favorites .

Love Marty but Sweet Child of mine is one of my favorites so I’m disappointed you didn’t play it. Anyway I love what you’re doing and I really appreciate you’re style and groove. I m a old guy trying to learn this thing the right way now that I’ve retired. Played around a little when I was young but unfortunately life got in the way. Thanks for all you do I’m really getting reenergized !

Another great 'GenX Nostalgia' clip, although the '80s were just 'an extension of' the '70s from my '65 Vintage POV. My karaoke 50th Anniversary tribute to Aerosmith 'Dream On' reminded me that my 20s & 30s were a long time ago, but I must have been doing something right with as much 'audience participation' as I noticed on replay of the video. Still keeping the guitar at home while I do refresher exercises with the muscle memory for hybrid-picking, double-stop and triad-chords, and rebuilding my maneuverability & reach along the post-surgery recovery path. (Trouble Tribe 'Here Comes Trouble' features some great 'stretch exercise' opportunities too)

All great choices. I'm a little younger than Marty, but I was hoping for Beat It to be on here. Iconic 80s partnership and that guitarwork (especially the solo) shreds.

Purple Rain is easily up there for me. I get that it’s not considered Rock by many but I consider anyone who can rock a rockstar and when prince felt like it he was one of the great rock stars and one of the most underrated guitarists ever.

I sat down to find an easy three-chord number to advance my awesome ultra-beginner skills, and I wound up here. I LOVED the 80s era. Video Hits with Dan Gallagher (and later Samantha Taylor)! Eventually MuchMusic took over. All these awesome songs, so nostalgic for me too! I just can't believe how well you play. It's amazing. (BTW, I did like your version of Sweet Child O' Mine.)
