Yung Jammy ye man I literally played that game 8 times coz it was the only shooter I had for about a year and I always used to replay that level when you were in the last building of the forerunners to try and beat the didact and there were banshees and stuff. Everyone considers it to be the worst halo but for me it was my first shooter so it always has a place in my heart. I do remember the ending being frustrating because I never understood what was happening. I only understood the reclamation about 3 years after.
@@sheepherd2210 its terrible lol if youre a real haloy fan its all about halo 2 or 3. Halo 1 was my first game I ever played on Xbox back in 03-04. Playing halo 4 really wasn't so special
Halo 4 imo was okay, its story was bold, extremely bold, and was executed alright with the introduction of forerunners. I personally wasnt fond of the style change, and the whole cortana “dying” part.
@@sheepherd2210 It's actually terrible, the reason Master Chief was a successful icon was specifically due to him seeming as a hulking, death dealing suit of armor. This is also why DoomGuy 2016 is so successful and iconic.
Lmao, you can tell Chief didn’t want to hurt the kid until he became a nuisance. It’s not your fault Locke, it’s not everyday you go up against the greatest Spartan that’s ever walked the face of the galaxy
@@gaminacthemaniac6444 and the thruster abilities. First and only time in the entire franchise that you get to feel the speed and strength of a spartan in gameplay like from the books
Tbf, if they know how much Chief has gone through... I'd trust him to make it out on his own without the need of assistance in the middle of a Covenant space convoy
Yea, no offense to Locke, but comparing Spartan IV's to II's is like comparing koala bears to grizzlys: they're both called 'bears', but one is clearly more dangerous than the other
@@neganlucille9992 Well, it's my believe that Spartan II's are superior to Spartan IV's because they seemed much more physically capable than IV's. As well as the fact that Chief has much more combat experience than Locke. Also, in this game, Chief is rocking with an older generation of armour unlike Locke's more up to date suit. That's partially why I believe Locke was able to go toe to toe with Chief, having a more modern suit definitely gives you an advantage. Possibly even to the extent of saying that could could also bridge a gap regarding the difference in experience these two have respectively. Not to say that Locke isn't a skilled fighter. I mean, he is. Now, that being said, I will admit the cutscene was pretty cool to see, I mean, it was. However, I feel somewhat iffy about Locke (yes, he's not a "normal" soldier, having a background with ONI, etc etc), but I feel like it was a little too easy for a gen IV to fight the only Spartan other than Noble 6 (that I can immediately think of) that are designated as "hyper lethal vector" with relative ease.
2:00 no he is on the 1st part. When he's starting to throw punches (just softly) the second part where he kicks Locke's ass is where a sound isn't heard
WTF!? Bro this whole time I thought he just smacks it out of his hand and punched him! But no he yanks it and smashes it against his helmet! Then how did he have another battle rifle after that fight!? I guess one was just lying around, either way that went may too quick for anyone to notice
After everything Chief has been through, through the whole story line and what he's survived, there's no way in hell that Locke even compared to Chief, despite his age
Randehmarsh Games ?????? You said that we don’t know how chief looks so I corrected you And I kinda agrees with you they should have shown his face in his last moments when his about to die which will probably never happen cuz you know $ xD
I love when chief just grabs locke punch and just tosses him, closest thing to proper lore that demonstrates the strength advantage of a spartan II over locke that we got in this skirmish
And Locke is wearing Gen 2 while Chief is wearing Gen 3. As a Spartan-IV, Locke needs Gen 2 MJOLNIR to match a Spartan-II wearing Gen 1 Mark VI. Sooo...sucks for Locke.
The augments for Spartan 4s combined with their armour makes them almost identical, same with Spartan 3's. Its a misconception that Spartan 4s are weak and terrible. What you said is wrong.
Nah, Locke beat Chief's ass no diff. Everything about Halo 5 is an evolution. Gameplay = Better. Locke = Better. Story = Better. Halo 5 is just the natural evolution of the Halo franchise.
Chief has a real soft spot for all UNSC. It comes out in him not thrashing Locke outright. Great physical storytelling. It's similar to when he was looking for ammo in space, and floating through Covenant and Marines. He chucked the aliens like bags of trash and carefully maneuvered the humans.
@@demonhunter6832 You *need* to do some research. No offense, but 6-10 minutes is completely wrong. Not only can the Lone Wolf mission go on as long as the player can, but Noble Six was said to have held off the Covenant for hours despite them bombarding his location with ordinance, ships, and troops. He is also the only Spartan besides Chief to earn the classifcation of "hyper lethal vector." To be put on the same level as Chief despite the obstacles is amazing.
@@demonhunter6832 It depends on multiple factors, Noble could have easily won in certain situations, but there is a larger variety of situations where Chief would have won.
Lol, yeah, in the books Spartan 2s were so much faster and stronger. These other Spartans that came after them like Locke and them had been biologically enhanced but it was extremely watered down compared to what the Spartan 2s went through. So there is no way that Locke can stand up to Chief, then again this fight scene is not a good representation of how fast and strong they really are.
@@earlpeters2260 That's actually not true. Well it is when they're not wearing armour, but when they do the only relevant enhancements which matter are those needed to operate it. Everytime you see a Spartan smashing walls and rocks to bits what you're actually seeing is Mjolnir smash walls and rocks to bits, the Spartan is in many ways just a pilot. So the only edge Chief might have is being a better fighter than Locke, he has no physical edge in this fight. Actually a Spartan IV in gen-2 armour is far more powerful than a Spartan II in gen-1 armour due to technological advancement.
Lv.99 Mastermind confidence at going against someone of his age, politics, pride, arrogance, pick your poison. Its all the same really. If they bent over for a single man, then they'd lose face so to speak in the grand scheme of things against everyone else. They're just the poor S.o.B.s that decided that fighting against their greatest creation was the smart move to make.
At this point the galaxy is moving on from the union against the covenant and the flood. New factions are rising and UNSC isn't the same, hence they're moving on from being so dependent on chief as Spartans 5 are easily made. Unfortunately this is only explained in the expanded lore :/
Honestly. He saved humanity when he had no obligation on multiple occasions, he's the only reason humanity ain't extinct and single-handedly destroyed a couple HALOS! Like damn, let him do whatever he wants its the least you can do.
@@darkjackl999 IIIs had lesser armor and augmentations, yes, but Noble 6 was the only Spartan other than Chief to be classified as a hyper lethal vector and had most of his file redacted. Pretty sure 6 could at the very least give Chief a hard time, as being comparable to him despite his equipment and augmentations is a testament to his skill.
Still can’t get over the fact how fast he grabbed that rifle out of Locke’s hands and in the same breath sling that shit across his face breaking it into two.
Geese Commander, Master Chief didn't want to kill Locke, even with his mission to find Cortana, Locke is still a friendly, (ONI owes the UNSC a lot for saving a lot of their information back on Reach), so he had to go easy on Locke so he doesn't kill them.
Avery Bednar I don't believe he was.... at the end he went to pull out his pistol becsuse efforts to combat Master Chief into submission failed, so he was going to kill him instead, he was either frustrated or he was fighting hard.
I mean, that’s good but the fight is pathetic, these are supposed to be 2 genetically engineered supersoldiers, one of which much stronger than the other and much more skilled, and instead we have guys in fancy armour punching each other with the force of a baby
I like how chief went easy on him and then cracked his visor with the knuckles and backhand. Then chief just looks at him, thinks "playtime's over" and proceeds to hit Locke with a knuckle punch and backhand
Bro I was just thinking like that entire time Locke had his battle face and them he cracks Chief's visor and his face just goes blank with "oh shit I dun fucked up"
Exactly, nobody cares about sergeant Locke at all. Now *NOBLE 6 SURVIVING REACH,* making their way to earth and being re-enlisted and sent on a mission to retrieve Chief and them having a sort of semi-reunion where chief makes reference to reach and acknowledges that he basically owes 6 his life but they still have to fight would’ve be FUCKING *HYPE* But no, instead we got bald guy
@@dontpreorder2783 Ultimately, I think that had Noble Six survived Reach, he would've been the No. 2 guy throughout the main trilogy (and possibly the Reclaimer trilogy too). Chief's job would've been so much easier and the Covenant would've folded much faster had Six survived long enough. It's a pity that Six only lasted a single game, but at least he went out like a fucking champ, fighting a valiant last stand worthy of any Spartan, overall.
@@TheResilient5689 Having the perfect self insert character alongside the now humanized Master Chief would have been cool, what a shame. At least we have old school Chief now: less words, more action that speak for him.
@@ThatsPerty i doubt that their armour is better, chief gets upgrades in every game and he is a spartan II so overall, chief can wreck him if he wants, i think to him, locke was no more dangerous than an average elite minor im still relatively new to the halo universe so i may be incorrect
@@ThatsPerty their armor is better but not in melee combat situations . Spartan II Mjolnir armor is so strong that it can brake every single bone in humans body if its not heavily modified with implants and genetical/physical surgery improvements . And Spartans IV are common humans (spartan 2 program was about picking some kids at age 6 and only few of them survived and spartans 4 are soldiers) they get some implants but they are far less powerful (they more effective in case of compatibility so there is no lethality in implanting process while only less then 100 of 300 spartans 2 has managed to withstand all changes) . So we can surely say that any spartan 2 is far more stronger, faster, for durable and has more stamina then any spartan 4 . Spartans 4 armor is better in some ways but they are not rly helpful in hand-to-hand combat. Difference if so big that Master Chief could just pick up Locke and throw him away under the feet of Locke's teammates
Okay a lot of people didnt like this fight, I just wanna say you can literally tell Master Cheif didn't want to fight. His heart wasn't in it. But you can then see when his visor broke, he got real serious. Immediately after that you can tell that Locke had no chance. Lockes a good spartan, good enough to at least go toe to toe if 117 wasn't serious but the moment he gets serious is the moment locke loses. You can tell chief even waits to make sure Locke is alright once the place starts falling apart. He surveys the area and considers their escape, he never intended to hurt or kill the other spartans. Not even for a second.
More like chief put half of his motivation into the fist fight after seeing locke breaking his visor and pulling out that armor-locking device. He still tries his best to restrain himself from bodying Locke too much but also tries to not get his armor locked.
@@joyoobility9176 bros a spartan II with insane amounts of strength has the best suit Mjolnir the augmentations and Mjolnir combined makes Spartan II’s stronger than any other spartan that came after wards Also if you watched any lore or watched Fall Of Reach you’ll know Mjolnir isn’t made for regular people especially spartan 3’s and 4’s that didn’t go through the same augmentations the 2’s did
Think its more the chorography on this fight sucks. Their spec ops not school kids. All these wild swings and stumbling about isn't what they should be doing. Plus no tension. Even if you accept the intent of both people, it doesn't feel like there is any steaks in this fight. That and punching someone in armor designed to stop bullets doesn't sell well unless you have better sound and camera work. Like look at something from Hajime no Ippo and compare it to this. I know there are limitations in games but still.
Remember chief respected ALL Spartans and saw them all as brothers especially after Samuel so yes he didn't want to hurt Locke but Locke fucked around and found out
I mean that's one way to justify it. Another way is that 343 decided motion capturing two regular guys fighting was a good idea to try and portray two beings moving with superhuman speed and reflexes while both weighing half a ton. Yes I know 343 justified it with 'Spartan time' that it's actually faster but we're seeing it how they see it, which would be fine if it wasn't horribly choreographed! There's so many moments where one of them had the chance to nail the other and they just wait and slug it out. Based on lore chief should be moving like Captain America but they made him move like drunk iron man getting beaten up at his own birthday
I legitimately thought that as soon as Locke told the Master Chief that Cortana was no longer his concern, he was going to beat the living crap out of Locke. Locke clearly does not know that you do not ever try to separate Cortana from the Master Chief.
That moment when you realize 99% of the UNSC and Spartans in general would follow Chief even if it defied the UNSC, chief could basically be another atriox if he wanted to
Marines in Halo 4: Marine #6: "Look, I fought to get this assignment; I'm just saying-" Officer #2: "A chain of command is still a chain of command." Marine #6: "C'mon, who do you think FLEETCOM's going to side with? Don't be naive."
Buck was highly decorated ODST veteran of a load of conflicts hell they even say if he was any better he would be a Spartan Cortana herself agrees with this and wonder why is he taking orders from children
Musa Ghanem (aka. Musa-096) has even said to Buck's face the affect of 'You are precisely the type of person I want the Spartan IVs to be'. Problem is, the events of that book broke Buck's faith in his leadership skills, so Buck refused a command post, preferring to pass the buck (so to speak) to someone else.
@@firemaker1258 Yeah, I know. And I'm waiting for ODST Part 2. I was just explaining why Buck wasn't in charge of that particular mission. Because his confidence was broken by Mickey's betrayal.
People mad that chief didn't beat the shit out of locke but honestly I think he was going easy on him and locke was trying his best. Chief doesn't have a reason to beat this man near death.
The problem is here, is that you have to try and believe something to make the fight seem a bit better. He could've tried even a smidge harder. It was just badly choreographed.
well actually The Chief In the books could kill ODSTs without breaking a sweat so why Locke even got up the first times seems to me 343 is making John weak
Master cheif is so slow here. Spartan top speeds are typically about 34 mph. Master Cheif has ran twice as fast under heavy stress. There shouldn't have even been a fight. Master cheif is has been doing it since 7. These dudes were grown ass men and got some silly speed locked armor. Not like Master Cheifs where he has it linked to his neural system. He can flip a tank with one finger. It's rediculous.
yes...in fact Kelly which was the fastest Spartan 2 ran above 60kph... Spartans can run fast...really fucking fast and the newer models they all have and upgrades to the older suits bypass certain safety precautions allowing the Spartans to temporarlly boost their speed...so yes chief at some points I'm sure activated that along with cortanas help in the older games in some cases to run probably around that speed..
it was much faster than that they were already running at that speed before the safety precautions were turned off...Kelly before the safety was removed topped 55mph. it was closer to 70mph during a training exercise when john tore his tendon.
How is this clear to you? Obviously he didn't take him seriously when they were talking, but in the fight it looked like chief was fighting his best... He wouldn't "toy" with him, what purpose does that serve? Getting his visor cracked?
Probably the worst choreographed fight in a video game, anyone that knows about martial arts and boxing would know how many openings they leave between each other no wonder chief got hit in the face that hard
Dr. DeadPool you should listen to the first season of “Hunt the Truth”. It’s the story of a reporter hired my ONI to write an inspiring article about the chief and he’s “History” but starts digging into the true history of the Spartans and the atrocities ONI had done to create them. It’s a good listen that starts to set up an interesting story with ONI as the antagonist that ends on a cliff hanger.....then season 2 came out and they were like “yeah, none of that has anything to do with the story of halo 5! Quick, write out all the crap season 1 was setting up and throw together something that will tie into the game.” Personally I would have preferred the much more human story Hunt the Truth season one was setting up versus another save the universe story. John 117 is a character that has walked through hell and back since he was a child all for the purpose of safeguarding UNSC interests and stopping a civil war to eventually defending all of humanity against the covenant. To top it all off he loses he’s most trusted companion at the end of Halo 4. The story was ripe for chief to go all Jason Bourne on ONI. That would have been a story worth telling. Finally justice for the spartan 2s and 3s.
imagine playing as a solo Chief on the run from the entirety of the UNSC and a new breed of spartan with new gadgets and limited resources and few morals.
Chief has the same level of armor based strength amplification as Locke at that point and slightly superior augmentations (which includes faster reaction times, greater muscle density, sharper eyesight, and extremely tough bones). On top of the sheer power side, Chief has about 30 years of frontline combat experience with 25 of those years in the covenant war and the rest against the insurgency along with the incredibly difficult training and in-depth tactics education he received for nearly 10 years as a child. Locke is a desk jockey in comparison. If we had a realistic fight, it would look like a MMA fighter in the ring with a thug. Sure the thug has some hand to hand combat experience, but the MMA fighter is gonna make that man look like a child playing at being a fighter in the ring. If Locke made Chief start sweating, I would still be a little iffy about the realism of this fight. Instead, the fight made it look like Locke actually has a chance of winning which is absurdly unrealistic even if chief was trying not to hurt Locke.
@@Reblwitoutacause I'd imagine for Chief he barely put anything into that punch. Plus, tbf to Locke, Keyes wasn't wearing armor and might've been physically degraded by Flood torture.
Doing a quick count for myself here, I'm going to count strikes landed by each party here. (Ie, strikes not blocked, parried or dodged.) Chief: 8 Locke: 5 Some can say this is to close, and it might be, but I honestly feel chief wasn't take taking this fight very seriously until his visor was cracked as Locke didn't land a real strike after that point and Chief just made mince meat of him.
they exaggerated the rivalry between chief and Locke, the trailer's made it look like they hated each other and had a big rivalry thing going on, but they only fought once only because Locke was ordered to go after the chief and that's it and became allies at the end of the game
Rodger Brown they did well on the campaign in 4, not so well on multiplayer. then they did near perfect with halo 5 multiplayer and not so well on the story.
Sebastian Rodriguez the suits weigh half a ton but they actually make the spartans 5 times faster, stated in the books. Halo 5 is heinously guilty of including things from the books without warning or explanation, so we know it considers them canon. In said books, the Spartan IIs could run so fast automated turrets could not target them properly. Now multiply that speed even faster, and you get an idea of how terrifying the Spartan soldiers really were. And how ridiculously terrible this fight is for being so slow and clunky, especially after the opening cutscene where they were moving around like actual Spartans
Locke didn’t understand that Chief was furious when he said that Cortana is “our responsibility now”. Chiefs missions was to protect Cortana no matter the cost and he feels guilt and responsibility for letting things escalate
Everyone here talking about how Chief shoulda destroyed Locke. I'm sitting thinking that Blue team should all be atleast a foot taller than Orsiris because Osiris were fully grown adults when they got their spartan juice. The Spartan IIs got it during puberty so they literally towered over other shoulders and even moreso in the armor.
SuperAlphamale13 lol its funny how everyone thinks chief was really giving it his all. He didn't start trying till this point and at this point you could see Locke was clearly outmatched. Didn't land a single hit.
I know technically they’re both wearing armor but honestly props to Locke for taking a Mjölnir powered knee right near the liver and not collapsing shits like an off switch usually
Yea that’s actually not a good thing. People are angry cause if this scene was lore accurate chief should destroy with that move cause Spartan 2/3 I forgot what one chief was but there miles stronger than the 4 there also faster . Essentially enter in every way but amour
@@Noah-bb9dg They're literally both wearing Mjolnir armour, Locke's is probably more modern and therefore tougher than the Chief's, despite their individual strengths...
@LittleDrowskie if the team interfere the only way they could win without one of them getting injured is using the armor lock if locke already got armor locked then no use in interfering
y'all remember in the bungie era when master chief, along with his elite best friend ended a war that spanned 20 years, and stopped a inter-galactic, eldritch abomination from infecting a majority of the galaxy and in 343 era home boy gets his ass kicked by this 1 note, flat, boring ass character in a cutscene
To be fair, John isn't a much better character, with regards to personality or motivation. He's essentially a blank slate with all the emotional range of a block of wood. However, he is an ACCOMPLISHED blank slate.
@@masterchiefpettyofficerspa3646 I wasn't aware they were canon. Funny enough, I was going to ask. In that case, I rescind that statement. I wasn't aware that he was a fully fledged character in the novels, as. I've never read them. Thanks for the heads up.
RedPandaZ¿ that, and he understands that locke is the stupid kid of the bunch. he lets locke be proud of himself for a brief moment before kicking his ass. hell, he probally got bored and decided he needed a reason to beat locke down, so let him smash his visor.
This scene just shows how much potential locke had in terms of charcter development. Having being humilated like this, but then later on gaining the respect nd autorithy he may have deserved could have acrually been pretty awsome to watch...
This continues to annoy me years later. A SII trained from childhood to be the perfect soldier and having far more combat experience both in and out of a suit than Locke.... yet Lock can fight with him 1 on 1? Ha? When John was a kid still he completely WRECKED a group of ODSTs without a suit or a weapon... ODSTs being the bad ass spec ops of the UNSC. Bah.
Jax Endsleigh I’m pretty sure you’re underestimating Locke dude. Everything you said about Chief is true but Locke is obviously an extremely skilled spartan
Jax Endsleigh Chief is holding back here friend. He knows Locke is just following orders. It is all he's known as well throughout his life. Probably didn't want to kill the guy.
That's a possibility. Personally I wanted to see Locke get trounced like he was a rookie compared to the Chief, but that isn't where they went. Willis Locke may be a skilled soldier in terms of the story, but the Chief has far more experience if you have read the novels. Again you're comparing someone that has been in a power suit since they were a teenager to someone that only just got a suit, and comparing a augmented super soldier from childhood to someone that was not. Strength wise and reflexes they might be similar, but the Chief experience wise should have walked over Locke like he was a child. Again the ODSTs... th-cam.com/video/qGdonBIS3c4/w-d-xo.html
You're seriously underestimating Locke. He's an Ex-ONI assassin/hunter so he's probably analyzed a little bit of the Spartan-2's fighting techniques before he became a Spartan.
Chief: "Oh? You're approaching me? Instead of running away, you're coming right to me? Locke: " I can't beat the shit out of you without getting closer." Chief: "Oh ho! Then come as close as you like."
I remember playing it when I was 11 thinking Locke was a goat Bc he stood a true chance against cheifs which made me hype about it but 5 years later I now realize chief is and will always be the best
Locke is a spartan 4 and has not enough physical training to beat chief hand on hand combat without his suit. Spartan 4 have nothing just armour advantage over spartan 2s/3s which most are dead and the last remaining didn't take any armour upgrades, take that out Chief would have killed him just like he killed the rest two of his senior 2 ODSTs teams out of 5 (where locke comes from) when chief was just young as fuck without any surgeries in training :0
Buck:"So this is Master Chief Petty Officer John 117? *THE* Master Chief?" Tanaka:"Yep, that's him" Buck:"Like, the most legendary soldier in the entire universe, the living nightmare of the Covenant, who they call The Demon?" Tanaka:"Yes,why?" Buck:"Should we maybe help Locke contain him or something?" Tanaka:"Nah, let's just sit by, watch and be useless." Buck:"Sigh, fine. Y'all want some popcorn?"
1. Chief is a very large man, he should easily be bigger than Locke even in full spartan armor, the look to be the same size in this, 2. Chief should kick his ass, he was trained to be a spartan since he was six, Locke became a spartan as an adult, 3. why is this fight so slow?
I wonder the same thing. Spartan IIs are superhumans without armor, never mind wearing the MJOLNIR systems which amplies their power X5 factor. So when Lock is fighting Chief, one punch should send him flying across the screen. The fight should look more like Mortal Kombat like something out of the avengers or severely watered down Dragon Ball Z No two drunks fighting
In the books it's shown that when Spartans spar they move so fast it's a blur. This fight does not conform to Halo lore at all. The Spartan IIs would win against a IV any day.
SecretSkull John has a history of accidentally killing UNSC personnel while sparring with them (ODST units included) he knew Locke was not his enemy so he simply went easy on him... until Locke broke his visor... then the fight went 100% in his favor.
at best, he probably just knew chief wouldn’t kill him, thus would hold back (which he obviously did, given how Chief effortlessly caught his fist and then tossed him). Still though... very underwhelming, and lazy fight on 343’s part.
God I hate this scene. “Spartans have lightning fast reflexes.” *Takes three seconds to throw a single punch* “Spartans are strong enough to lift over a thousand pounds at 14.” *Kinda cracks a visor a little bit and that’s literally it.*
You forget that chief is wearing the Mjölnir armor, it's strong enough to withstand a direct hit from a brute's war hammer at full swing. The last thing to crack that visor was a collision with a planet. And neither one is trying to kill the other, just immobilize the other. And a punch is slower than dodging.
@@Bornstellar071 2x speed is still too slow for how fast a Spartan II can be. If we were to witness this fight in person, if you were to blink at the first punch your eyes will open to Locke being frozen with his pistol out.
If 343 was loyal to spartan 2s story this fight would have been more like: "Oh so u wanna fight?" "I'll go easy on u then" *insert avengers scene where hulk destroys loki* "Pfft puny spartan 4s"
Ivannes09 it would’ve probably been master chief vs all of fire team Osiris at once, and he would still been on top, but to add suspense they could’ve made the fight somewhat close since Spartans 4 have more tech but Spartans 2 are far superior
343 totally botched the Chief vs. Locke thing. Not only with the fact that Halo 5 wasn't even about that, but also with the fact that they decided to pitch at the wrong time. For people who stayed behind because they cared about Halo, you'd think they'd realize that everyone's gonna side with Chief cause no one knows or even cares about Locke. What they could have done was just introduce and develop Locke in Halo 5 so that we'd actually like him and care about him, and then start building a little tension between him and Chief and THEN maybe pitch the Chief vs. Locke thing. But, 343 completely mishandled it.
Guy on the Internet yeah hopefully 343 can pull their heads out of their asses and actually make some solid character development and decent story. I absolutely hate what they've done to chief on their own; downplaying ability, role, even his fucking looks. But if it hasn't come to their realization that through a span of 3 games that a protagonist with no face, hardly any dialogue, and a backstory that didn't even come right off the bat can build a following worldwide, there is simply no fucking replacing that. Not this cookie cutter cool guy Locke, hell not even the arbiter and he was extremely bad ass in his own right. 343 has tremendously fucked this series.
Guy on the Internet No matter how long they try to build up another character. there is a thing called loyalty. and a majority of the people in halo are going to remain loyal to people such as chief and arbiter. to be honest I have always preferred arbiter over master chief. because I love arbiters story. master chief is the main character that we have built an attachment to for god knows how long lol. my entire life time? (17years).
Guy on the Internet agreed Locke should have been built up in halo 4 tho ! They have their big fight and battle in 5 then possibly work together in 6 the final instalment .
Iblis the trailers literally was what halo 5 should have been. They changed it because of backlash over Cortana and painting chief negative. All the marketing was most likely made already but I think I read Microsoft got their hands on the game. After halo 4 they had such a platform to build off of but they throw it away. Halo 6 is in an interesting spot tho, I still have faith.

I mean master chief is a Spartan 2 sooo
UwUTSF [Mew2] yes?

And Locke is wearing Gen 2 while Chief is wearing Gen 3. As a Spartan-IV, Locke needs Gen 2 MJOLNIR to match a Spartan-II wearing Gen 1 Mark VI. Sooo...sucks for Locke.

If Fireteam Osiris used 100% of their strength and Blue team used 50%, Blue team would still win with barely a scratch on any of their suits.
Slick!
The only other Spartan(outside of Spartan 2s) I can see doing this is Noble 6, but Locke shouldn’t even be able to last 5 seconds
It never made sense that the UNSC literally wouldn't listen to the strongest and best asset they've ever had.
Lol, Chief's coolness has nothing to do with rules of military subordination

im still relatively new to the halo universe so i may be incorrect
@@joyoobility9176 bros a spartan II with insane amounts of strength has the best suit Mjolnir the augmentations and Mjolnir combined makes Spartan II’s stronger than any other spartan that came after wards

Quick, write out all the crap season 1 was setting up and throw together something that will tie into the game.”
Personally I would have preferred the much more human story Hunt the Truth season one was setting up versus another save the universe story.
John 117 is a character that has walked through hell and back since he was a child all for the purpose of safeguarding UNSC interests and stopping a civil war to eventually defending all of humanity against the covenant. Finally justice for the spartan 2s and 3s.

Locke's a Spartan too and he's a pretty decent fighter. Sure, Chief could have won quicker than that but he's not the Hulk.
Lmaoo
Pffft puny spartan 4s- Master Chief
Locke: *Breaks Chiefs Visor*

True but the suits weigh half a ton sooooo
Sebastian Rodriguez the suits weigh half a ton but they actually make the spartans 5 times faster, stated in the books. Halo 5 is heinously guilty of including things from the books without warning or explanation, so we know it considers them canon.
In said books, the Spartan IIs could run so fast automated turrets could not target them properly. Now multiply that speed even faster, and you get an idea of how terrifying the Spartan soldiers really were. And how ridiculously terrible this fight is for being so slow and clunky, especially after the opening cutscene where they were moving around like actual Spartans

that, and he understands that locke is the stupid kid of the bunch. he lets locke be proud of himself for a brief moment before kicking his ass. hell, he probally got bored and decided he needed a reason to beat locke down, so let him smash his visor.
I believe he didn't go all out because he didn't want to become a threat to Infinity, or seen as an enemy of the UNSC.
The didact is dead, boiiii. Know your logic.
It's because since he killed the 4 ODSTs who where threatening him (in one of the Halo books), he decided not to harm a human anymore
This scene just shows how much potential locke had in terms of charcter development. Having being humilated like this, but then later on gaining the respect nd autorithy he may have deserved could have acrually been pretty awsome to watch...
Locke: „117 stand down“
Blue Team in their minds: „chief boutta WOOOOP your ass 🙌“
This continues to annoy me years later. A SII trained from childhood to be the perfect soldier and having far more combat experience both in and out of a suit than Locke.... yet Lock can fight with him 1 on 1? Ha? When John was a kid still he completely WRECKED a group of ODSTs without a suit or a weapon... ODSTs being the bad ass spec ops of the UNSC.
Bah.
Important thing. Don't lie on the polygraph as it's what they are looking for when you take it.
Locke: " I can't beat the shit out of you without getting closer."

Bobby Page It should be accurate to the rest of the lore
I wonder the same thing. Spartan IIs are superhumans without armor, never mind wearing the MJOLNIR systems which amplies their power X5 factor. So when Lock is fighting Chief, one punch should send him flying across the screen.
The fight should look more like Mortal Kombat like something out of the avengers or severely watered down Dragon Ball Z
No two drunks fighting
In the books it's shown that when Spartans spar they move so fast it's a blur. This fight does not conform to Halo lore at all. The Spartan IIs would win against a IV any day.
DAMNIT 343! YOU DONE FUCKED IT UP!
SecretSkull John has a history of accidentally killing UNSC personnel while sparring with them (ODST units included) he knew Locke was not his enemy so he simply went easy on him... until Locke broke his visor... then the fight went 100% in his favor.
admire Locke for at least addressing Master Chief as “Sir”, giving him due respect despite him being his objective to capture
not to mention that technically in military parlance, "sir" is reserved for officers and chief is an enlisted man
It's adorable that Locke even thought that he would stand a chance again chief.
at best, he probably just knew chief wouldn’t kill him, thus would hold back (which he obviously did, given how Chief effortlessly caught his fist and then tossed him). Still though... very underwhelming, and lazy fight on 343’s part.

*Kinda cracks a visor a little bit and that’s literally it.*
You forget that chief is wearing the Mjölnir armor, it's strong enough to withstand a direct hit from a brute's war hammer at full swing. Noble 6 would even squash Locke. Remember 6 was the only other Spartan to be labeled "Hyper-Lethal" other than Chief
