The lack of seating in Disney Parks is a HUGE issue. They keep removing benches for “guest flow”. I’m glad they are finally creating seating areas, but it really impacts the experience to not have places to pause throughout the parks. Where there are no areas to just relax and take things in, you don’t appreciate or enjoy the parks as much.
They don't want you to relax. If you want to relax go to a different park.
I've said that for 20 years. They need benches, umbrellas and more seating for the festivals. There's nothing more irritating than buying food at the festivals and no place to eat in the shade. I have been done with Disney for a few years now. They don't care about the guest experience (like they used to) it's now all about $$$$$$$$$
The videos of all the flies on the food at the restaurants on the island is so disgusting. Really hope they figure that issue out.
Honestly I am somewhat shocked the opened the food venues on that situation-almost seems it might have been better had they just said the dining venues weren’t ready. I cannot unsee the flies - it was an interesting PR choice.
That's the biggest problem I have with the new CommuniCore..the murals.. I'm like don't remind me what we lost! 😡🤬
Yes, Just like a lot of the merchandise at Disneyland, they still promote long lost attractions like the Peoplemover!

💯Agree with the murals in the meet and greet. Seriously that’s exactly what I thought. Insulting to try to appease EPCOT fans with depictions of the amazing things that were created and destroyed rather than give us new amazing attractions. I don’t understand what direction they are heading in.
Like GOTG coaster having the reference to Horizons in the queue. That felt like big middle finger to the fans.
I will be optimistic and think it means they are heading in a more classic Epcot direction when it comes to new stuff. Moana has some edutainment and Test Track moving to a WoM theme.
@@CobraKai63 Moana is destined to be a classic Epcot attraction I think. It's quintessential Epcot.
@@RoastBeefSandwich yeah, I just wish they had done the same with GotG. They could have easily put some real science in the queue and had the same ride. You can do IP and edutainment.
I still miss old Epcot. But I agree a new overhaul may come down the line in some years. Just give us back Dreamfinder. Many folks will feel a bit better.
DAK 1000% needs a nighttime show. Even as AP's who we frequent the park on a weekly bases rarely go to DAK, like maybe 2x in the last year and half because they close so early. The few times a year they're open past 6 or 7 is great. I love how they hyped Pandora as a land that comes alive at night and you never get to see it because the park closes before the sun goes down. As locals I would love AK to stay open later to help spread the crowds out among the other . I think your way off base thinking DAK doesn't need anything at night.
Right?! Rivers of light was cool! I really liked it. They could even do a drone show at AK.
The Encanto show honestly just sounds like the kind of event a local Parks and Rec department would throw during the summer, just with more talented performers.
lol, while you're talking about how old EPCOT wasn't popular with kids... apparently I'm a major exception and not the rule because EPCOT was my favorite park as a kid. I loved learning about all the different subjects covered at the park during the late 80s to mid 90s.

Epcot Needs Horizons.
They could gut the old Wonders Of Life building, & make that a modern version of Horizons. Believe it or not, I still prefer Body Wars over the current Star Tours.
We got evacuated from the closed in portion of the Incredicoaster in May. That was awesome!!
Every single thing they open up at Disney is now something something something adventure can they not come up with anything else?
DAK was literally built to be seen at night- the tree of life projections, Pandora's bio life that glows, etc. also a lot of the animals are nocturnal so you get to see them in a new way

So Connections Cafe is awful (in my opinion) Bland...beige... in spite of the AC we would much rather go and sit in the Land Pavilion. Shout out to Animal Kingdom for keeping their street performers that elevate that park to greatness!

The one place Disneyland has a leg up on MK when it comes to seating is in the actual hub, which I love at DL... it makes you feel like you're in an actual "park."
I hope Disney one day realizes that a garden/ shaded area with benches should return to the hub at MK. Screw projection visibility, that tech is old and no longer impressive, they rely on it too much imo.
In the same amount of build time-Tokyo got Fantasy Springs and we got a cafeteria hall without the lunch ladies and a karaoke stage

There are so many Disney movies that are using animals or about animals. They don’t need to go far to bring more of Disney animal IP in AK.
Except that AK is supposed to focus on *real* animals and nature, not animals just standing in for humans (ie: Zootopia).
@vespista1971 Ah, the original mission statement of AK was based on animals both real AND imagined. That's why there were supposed to be dragons and unicorns. 🙄
The last two times we did Epcot we “band hopped” and just spent the day enjoying the live entertainment - it was amazing
Poor Tom looks so tired. That pier looked like a long walk. I wasn't able to watch this live because I was watching the honest review of TBA.
I can't believe he's gone back and forth from Japan for all these things. Once he was there, I thought he was going to just stay there for a few months, I would have. I've been, and that's a long flight to Japan.

I 100% thought Trixie singing Try Everything, was going to be her surrounded by cakes, pies, and other food because she was "trying everything". It makes total sense.
Eons ago in December 1998 I ended up in Epcot the night they opened Test Track to guests. I remember sitting outside for hours wondering if it was really going to open. It wasn’t guaranteed. Once it did, I was in total awe. I have a lot of Disney parks memories, but that one is really special because I was part of the first few guests to ride! Sometimes it’s worth doing the crazy thing.
Perhaps the new Country Bear show will be the Harmonious of Country Bear shows "inspiring" audiences to demand changes soon after launch.

Man I totally agree, I want the full experience at food and wine with a place to sit and enjoy what it is they are offering me.
Tom, I've never understood the shade you throw at the original HM facade🤣...Despite it being clean, I still found the building very creepy as a kid, because of the way it looms over the queue and that area. Also because you cannot see plantation architecture anywhere in the West Coast!
That unique architecture will forever = haunted house to me, and I suspect that's the case for millions of Californians who first associated that look with spookiness lol.
Since plantation architecture is common in the south, that's obviously why they went with the brick style at WDW, but really, that mansion is not "rundown," it's just FAR AWAY🤣. I don't like the entrance at WDW as much since you never actually go into the Mansion directly. The mansion does not pull off forced perspective as well as a result imo.
Epcot’s old Future World was a place that caused impact in the visitors, even with one outdated look. Now is something charmless and with nothing special to offer.
The "DAK is too real / gritty, not fantasy enough" argument is kinda true, but it's a tough argument to make since that land (sub saharan) "Africa" is mostly poor and if you're theming it to that location it'd be questionable to make it much nicer than it already is relative to real life lol.🤔
Also, New Orleans Square is pretty darn realistic considering it's supposed to be a recreation of Turn of the Century NOS French Quarter, which was quite prosperous and clean as compared to the poor New Orleans of today. It's not really a fantasy take, it's definitely the most realistic land they've ever done imo, it's just that the place they chose to recreate was already incredibly charming, ornate and beautiful... when it came to do the poorer areas represented by Adventureland, that's when they went fantasy.😅
The lookout cay media event was an interesting PR choice. They clearly were not ready for it. I love the natural environmentally friendly approach, but I almost think MSC Ocean Cay Marine Reserve is more appealing and the beaches are just as lovely. They should have at least put a few shaded benches on the pier and just been honest about the flies and said food service was not ready to go. The beach is beautiful, but there are many beautiful beaches. All it did was convince me that a Nassau and Lookout Cay itinerary is going to be a stay on the ship itinerary. I have not been there so reserving judgement, but it doesn’t look that amazing.
The 1 land I want in animal kingdom is lion king. I want full sized pride rock. Lion king e-ticket
It took several YEARS to build this fn wedding venue called communicore hall. What a fn joke the old building was just as good.
I could get that area built in 6 months no problem.
It seems like it took them several years just to build the same thing.
I like it when form follows function, but at Disney parks it should follow a little closer behind.
I loved kite tales and was so happy that my vacation lined up with seeing it. And i dont need night time show there i just want good atmospheric entertainment through out my day there. Very sad I'll never see zootopia i was so ready to have disney take more of my money to be at DAK for that.

32:54 as an architect I understand when you say function over form but also as an architect that is unacceptable. One of the ways they teach you how to think in school is form follows function. That is how you design. That is how Imagineers design. So in my experience when I hear they built a big grey box I can bet anything it was not the thought process of function over form but money over form.
Lari the armadillo is definitely sanitized. In his character bio they added that he eventually gives back the stuff he steals. I understand they can’t have a character talking about hanging and skinning another character, but like, just have Lari steal stuff. Just a tiny bit of conflict, please, even if it’s in the D storyline.
When did we start calling Animal Kingdom “DAK”?

To loosely quote Dewey from Malcolm in the Middle: "i have low expectations and I'm still disappointed...." Everything theyve been doing the past few years has been a miss. Its like there's no soul in anything anymore.
I agree with Tom, I think Zootopia land would be great addition for DAK! It definitely needs another land besides just redoing Dinoland.

Disney can’t seem to get a solid win on anything these days. Cosmic rewind and Adventureland treehouse - that’s about it. Tron is wayyyy too short of a ride.
And so while we all sit here observing the decline of Walt Disney World, Epic Universe is a gleam of a bright and beautiful tomorrow…….and I tell you Epic Universe will have a bigger chance of earning my business in the very near future.
Let’s keep saying the quiet part OUTLOUD. Life’s too short and Americans work very hard in saving their hard earned money to vacation in our country with their families.
Bob Iger and his company has abandoned its ability to appeal to the American masses. Universal has learned in real time from Disneys BIG STUPID MISTAKES. And I am sure that Universal whole heartily invited former Walt Disney Imagineers with open arms!

Yes all of these quotes are correct. Do be careful not to forget that Walt was a father and he made a product for himself, a family man. He didn’t make products for childless, self absorbed consumers.
I believe Tom always gives us his honest reviews and his true opinions wether he’s on any list or not👍
I think that he believes what he says, but there has been a huge difference in the way he covers Disney, since being included. It used to be brutal honesty now it is giving digging opinions on things that people don’t care about, only. On Disney’s very public endeavors, Tom has become an apologist.

The Disney Cuddle/pillow plush line is by far my favorite. I have Figment and he’s better than any squishmellow I’ve ever had. Would love to see them expand that line to include some overseas original characters! (🐯🐵🐻)
